The trap wish isnt bugged, more testing needed for you I think ;) Also, I wish for sanity does something else, which you didn't notice, maybe we should rename it though.

Even though "i wish to leave" makes you slow, it could be used far from the door to save a friend, for instance.

The monkey's paw was something I thought about for a cursed possession back when they first added them to the game, but they did it WAY better than I imagined.

I cant wait to wish for the ghost to be trapped when the whole team is in the ghost room. 😈

I can imagine some goofy pranks when playing with friends using this :P like locking the ghost in the ghost room while a friend is in there using the spirit box or something

The monkey paw is definitely the most diverse cursed possession, from changing the weather to literally locking the ghost to being able to leave the building during a hunt :D

4:30 - little correction there: Only the hunts directly caused by a cursed possession are considered cursed hunts with the 1 second grace period. Every hunt after that are still normal hunts with the difficulty specific grace period, but just 20 seconds longer. Just tested it yesterday, because i've seen some contrary statements about that^^

I was looking forward to Insym's take on this cursed possession since I found out about it.

i told the shameful story on psycho's video, i'll tell it here i used "i wish for knowledge" first thing, not knowing a damn thing, but i was smart and hid in a closet to use it. i was very, very confused... and then even more confused when i died... turns out it was a deogen. i didn't even live long enough to see the benefit; i thought the question just... killed me.

the monkey paw has a really interesting story and play for it, spoiler if anyone wants to read for themselves! what happens is a woman is gifted the paw by someone(cant remember been 4 years since last saw) and the family starts off by making a small wish like I wish her son gets the job and suddenly he gets called saying he made the job, and slowly they ask for more and more till they ask the monkey paw for a lot of money to pay off there debt and they get a call saying there son died at the factory his body torn apart in a grinder and the company give them the money they wished for, at the cost of there sons life and when they wish to bring there son back from the dead it does just it doesn't fix the body and son is just a mashed up mess of flesh and bone. they end up wishing that all there wishes never existed and all returns to normal, expect the son is still dead and they have the money still because the paw just made events occur that would make a wish come true not just give them it.

If the "i wish to be safe" works for multiple people, you and your temate can go on opposite sides of the map and just use items after each other to make the gost go between 2 hiding spots

I hope the "I wish the ghost was trapped" can be used on the hunt like Deogen trapping in during a hunt in front of you.

The front door closing on the trap wish was probably cause you used up the last wish on the hand. Most of the cursed objects trigger a cursed hunt when you use them to their limit so it'd make sense if this one did too.

We can confirm that the I Wish For Life for the Monkey's Paw doesn't always kill the person who asks for their friend's revival, as we had 1 match where one of us survived making the wish to bring back our other buddy. Another one is that you absolutely cannot make the same kind of wish twice even if another player does it, even if it's a wish for sunny weather after wishing for snow for example.

I mean, the safety one is a downside for sure but its really not the end of the world, it just means the ghost can detect equipment from infinite range, so be extra cautious not to flip through inventory while hiding and make extra sure to turn them off before hiding in a room

I like the -evidence. Some are hard to find depending on the ghost in multiplayer and if it removes ghost writing that makes it much easier. Besides the person who used it can unload stuff for the team after and check for orbs

I have a question (or a special case to be exact). If you do the "trap the ghost" wish while you are inside the ghost room, will you get trapped too? And if so (and I mostly think so lol), will the "I want to leave" wish unlock the locked ghost room too so you can leave the room? My prediction is I think it will since it unlocked more than one doors in the Sunny Meadow map. But if I do so and it works, will the ghost stay trapped inside of the room too? The door was already unlocked by the other wish after all. Next is for the "I want to leave" wish again. In a multiplayer case, if player A asks for the "I want to leave" wish, will the door be unlocked only when A is the one who opens the door or the door will be unlocked for everyone? If it works like a remote control lock that will just unlock the door(s), then anyone can open the locked door after the wish. And if so, then it will be really good. People can just assign someone to stay close to a safe hiding spot with the monkey paw. When the hunt starts, that one person can just wish to leave, unlock the door for other players remotely, and hide using the hiding spot safely.

I feel like the safe one isn't actually too bad. I always shut up and turn off equipment immediately when a hunt starts, and the try to get a hiding spot a few rooms over or loop the ghost for funsies. Maybe I'm just an outlier in how I play though haha

editor insym is always fun

I just though finding the ghost room right away is sorta nice. So using the trap one before you know on a larger map like school can let you rule out a whole wing just with a single wish. Activity doesn't tell you where the room is and could be a pain in the ass.

I remember that it was a chapter in our class 8th in India " the monkey's paw " with the same characteristic.

If you're near the end of your investigation or your contract and you're ready to get out, and you have the still unused monkey paw item with 3 wishes, could you theoretically position yourself near the exit and: >I wish for Knowledge. >I wish to trap the ghost. >I wish to leave. All one right after the other in rapid succession with no delay in between the wishes, and just book it out the front door with even more certainty about the ghost type?

So Insym, just in case you don't know or haven't heard the story of the monkey's paw, the reason why many wishes have such a negative effect is because of how this object works in the original story it was from. The paw grants your wish, however it is also a curse and takes something in place of what it gives. In the original story (if I remember correctly, it's been awhile) for example, the family is poor and struggling, so they wish for great wealth. The paw grants the wish, however it comes at a great cost. The money they get in turn comes as compensation payment for their son who is brutally killed at the factory he works at. Anyway, I wasn't sure if you knew the background on this one, just thought you might be curious! Thanks for the information in this video, it was very helpful! Also i think with the safe one, the next hunt it will spawn super close to you (relative) no matter where the ghost room is

Dude i asked for knowledge today and the only thing i heard after that was my friend (he was also very muffeled) saying: Dude I hate you I swear to god im gonna ki- and the he stopped talking all of a sudden and i though he was just angry cuz I called a hunt but i turned on a flashlight after like 2 minutes of silence and he was there laying on a ground and i bursted out laughing hahaha really good game :D

If the safe one works on multiple people it's fucking OP, like imagine how bad you can just juggle the ghost around the map by switching equipment on and off across the map.

I was using the monkey's paw one time on a game with my friends, and I was using open mic mode. I jokingly said "Can I wish for a brain?", and it must have registered as "I wish for rain." so, make sure you're careful with your words!

If you say "show us" or "where are you?", the hand will play the same animation as when you wish something for the second time

It could be when you said I wish for the ghost to be trapped the ghost just started a hunt and that is why the front door closed I think you should test if you can Locke the ghost in the ghost room during a hunt

I got an idea. They could make one more wish, for the day. It would save you from the ghost, but it would eliminate the ghost and you wouldn't be able to collect evidence... Btw, I would like to see at least once what the street looks like in the morning, when the neighbors go to work. :D :D :D

I guess I don't quite understand what the negative downside to I wish for Safety is? I was under the assumption that all ghosts except Yokai could already determine your location via electronic equipment. So does this just make it so that there is no range? If that is the case I can't say that is a very harsh negative effect. Personally I always turn off equipment before hiding or sometimes before going into the room with hiding spot, so that wouldn't seem to be any different then normal. Again, I might just be not understanding the negative side effect properly.

safety is insanely broken, a hiding spot of your choice and complete control of the ghost is too strong. the downside is not a downside if you can play without a flashlight.

It'd be cool if whoever uses "I wish for knowledge" literally loses their eyes on their character model, maybe like the Argyro Woman Ghost model. It'd be a cool creepy little detail, and show you who is blind/deafened.

If you trap yourself inside the ghost room when you wish to trap the ghost (since it locks the door to the ghost room), would wishing to leave unlock that door too?

Could wishing for "Anything" duplicate a wish? Like, if you wished for knowledge then wished for anything, could you get knowledge twice or would knowledge be removed from the random wish pool?

Wishing for infinite wishes should make the paw flip you off.....

Monkey paw negative effects was what I originally suggested all ghost to have Randomly assigned power up not related to their type of ghost. Either by breaking a curse item or going down to zero sanity.

I’ve read The Monkey’s Paw in English last semester, it actually grant wishes but it comes with few consequences. I’m not sure if it does that in game. Ex: a guy wished for some money, their son died and gave them some money.

It would be cool if it would flip you if you demand something like "I wish for infinite wishes" or "I wish for *insert companion_name* to die" and a chance to flip you if you keep demanding the same wish.

My first experience with it was my teammate testing it and first he wished for fog. THEN HE WISHED FOR THE GHOST TO BE TRAPPED IN THE ROOM TRAPPING ME AND MY TEAMMATE (vr) then after around 30 seconds the ghost hunts and kills me (on professional) and I say “carry on for me!” And then the door unlocks and my teammate escapes and tells the others what happened then they wished for life, I was revived, I then picked up my items and tried going to the van. The ghost hunts I try running to a hiding spot but ghost gives chase on stairs I smudge it. The ghost still follows. Then catches me I then die Infront of the door. Teammates wish for life. But we are out of wishes.
