The WagonR LXI and VXI variants come with a 1.0L petrol engine mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. VXI also has the option of 5 speed AMT gearbox. Both variants also have a CNG option. The petrol version has a claimed mileage of upto 24 kmpl. The CNG version returns upto 34 km/kg.
Features on the LXI variant include:

I have been using Wagon ZXI AMT top end Model 2023 for the past 9 months and have driven 8000 kms. Superb car for city drive. Believe it or not, after 5k kilometers, even in city I am getting 16.2 km per litre of petrol on tank to tank mileage in Chennai traffic. Butter smooth engine as it's a 4 cylinder 1.2 litre petrol engine. But it's not a safe vehicle to drive above 80 kms speed especially on highways. Value for money car especially for Citi traffic.

It's very nice car for long drives also. I own zxi AGS 2023 model. I touched upto 110km/hr on straight highway. Upto that speed it's stable car. Body roll is negligible and 1.2L engine is super refined and powerful for long journeys. Overall nice family car

Wagon R is a typical city car, good to cruise in city traffic but not for regular highway riding. The wheel size in this latest model is not proportionate to the body, cost cutting can be evidenced in most of the new models.

Drove wagon r for 15k km. As you said 1 litre engine is for the city and not for the highway. We have to plan for overtaking. And also I won't get confidence when we cross 80kmph.
