In this Tailgate Series video we showcase some of the power of utilizing Integrated Surveying with your Trimble Robotic Total Station and your Trimble GNSS. Both the GNSS and conventional surveys can be controlled simultaneously with Trimble Access. This streamlines the setup and workflow and also makes the GPS Search very fast and accurate.

I started using integrated surveying last fall, mainly because I use an SX 12 (total station & scanner in one instrument) and it doesn’t track very well especially when you walk behind objects, traffic, etc. Being able to hit the search button and have it lock on nearly instantaneously, it is such a timesaver. It is also great when you get into an area where you have a lot of obstructions but you only need a few shots to get it done so you can toggle to GNSS mode and continue surveying. I highly recommend it. It greatly increases efficiency. Thanks for the video, Wes!

Excellent videos, I just subscribed. Do you have a video on how to use Access in the office without actually setting up equipment? For testing/learning purposes? Thank you

Ryan, Trimble does allow anyone to have Trimble Access loaded on a computer which has a GNSS emlulaor to use as a training tool or to support. It has a 50 point limitaton. Just ring into one of our Frontier Precision Offices and talk to a Geospatial Expert. Wes is the best. Lots of tricks and Tips in this video.

I know this is a bit of an old video, but since the R12i includes TIP and tilt compensation, is it possible to apply tilt compensation to shots taken with the total station while doing integrated surveying?

As of now, it isn't possible. But it is something that has been asked for so you never know, we might see it down the road.

So the TPS and GNSS data is all scaled to be either plane or grid, based on the job settings?

Assuming the project was set up state plane grid. What do you have to do to get grid coordinates when using the total station? Also how does that work if not integrated and using the gps for setting control then setting up over it?

@@billhelmick9721 Hi Bill, In the Cogo Settings of Access (Under your Job Properties) you will want to make sure the Sea Level Correction box is checked on. Then your grid and ground data should match up. A good test would be to measure in a few points with both methods and inverse between them. You can then use the same project to set control and run total station data in. When doing testing with customers I will occasionally use the old method of setting control in one job(with State Plane for example), then start a new job as a Scale Factor1 and link to the first job. This would be another good test to check the control and make sure it matches with the initial job. I hope this helps. Thanks, Wes.
