Intelligence Officer Says Hamas Is “Wrong” If They Believe They Can Keep Hostages

IDF Intelligence Officer Yossi Alpher says Hamas Is “wrong” if they believe they can keep hostages for “an extended period of time”.
This comes after Israel called for the resignation of the United Nation's Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, slamming his “shocking” and “horrible” remarks.
Guterres said it was “important to recognise” Hamas’s attacks did not happen “in a vacuum” and that Palestinians had been subject to 56 years of “suffocating occupation”.
Yossi says: “Either Hamas and the various international mediators come up with a major hostage release - or I think the ground offensive is going to start very soon.”

Most Palestinians have never voted in any election, let alone voted for Hamas. 52.3% of Palestinians are under 18. Hamas won the election in Jan 2006 with 44% of the vote compared to Fatah's 41%. Hamas has not held any elections since then. No elections for over SEVENTEEN YEARS. According to the latest Washington Institute polling, conducted in July 2023, Hamas’s decision to break the ceasefire was not a popular move. While the majority of Gazans (65%) did think it likely that there would be “a large military conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza” this year, a similar percentage (62%) supported Hamas maintaining a ceasefire with Israel. Moreover, half (50%) agreed with the following proposal: “Hamas should stop calling for Israel’s destruction, and instead accept a permanent two-state solution based on the 1967 borders.” Moreover, across the region, Hamas has lost popularity over time among many Arab publics. This decline in popularity may have been one of the motivating factors behind the group’s decision to attack.

In breaking with the PLO and the governance of the West Bank to pursue militancy, Hamas created a divide that has made it easier for Israel to pepper the West Bank with settlements, preventing the 1967 borders being restored.

Strange,they actually pulled out of Gaza in the early 2000 which they had occupied after they had been attacked in the war of Yom Kippur.

It is not & it has never been about Palestine or land Israel has left Gaza in 2008. Their government is hamas and all what he does is terrorism against Israel and it's own population. Since then, as act of humanity, Israel has supplied water, electricity, jobs and so on. Israelis did not have to. BTW Palestine never existed, their 1st leader, 60 years ago was Egyptian, Yaser Arfat, another terrorist. So, no history.... This is not about Palestine, this is the Islam, Isis, Taliban agenda - 1st the jews and then all the other western. So, I suggest all western countries, to be very careful, you never know what your Islamic friends are preparing for you. Good luck
