Heck, there are literally free programs that game devs use to randomly generate passable placeholder text. And this is a launch title for which they have printed thousands of "physical products" for. The excuse "no fair, it's not finished' is just an indictment of their development capabilities. Maybe when Tommy said "Whenever I'm around Miyamoto, I'm taking notes" this is what he meant. Since (in Tommy's mind), Miyamoto is his mentor, Tommy thought it was okay to plagiarize one his games.

I was gonna give the Intellivision Amico a chance but because of Tommy's unprofessional behavior I'm not supporting the Intellivision Amico.

Someone pointed out that in the Boomer video that the guy (the 30-something guy Pat alludes to) who talks the most and says the most obviously scripted things is from Octane- that marketing place Tommy bought that "Consumer Product Innovation" award from.

It is hilarious how many of these positive accounts of the events and console hit on exactly the talking points Intellivision/Tommy have laid out and especially how many of them harp on Tommy. At some point people stopped trying to sell the Amico console and started trying to sell the Amico brand and all the Tommy that implies. Even if you like this system any account that claims it 'blew them away', 'was incredible', 'will change gaming' or that it's something that never existed before is, at best, wildly hyperbolic and deeply suspicious. In fact if we're being real any adult who picks up a wii-style controller and plays arcade games and comes away with a positive perception stronger than 'pretty cool' or 'I had fun' should be taken with a huge grain of salt. Even if it's a really _really_ good console (and it isn't) there's literally nothing in the experience that should or could be revelatory.

Amico is right. They aren't competiting with Nintendo or Sony or Microsoft. Mainly cause you can't compete in the console market if you got no console. 😐

Honestly, this is what you get when someone who thinks he knows how to make video games tries to make video games. Tallarico has worked on lots of video games in his career, this is true, but he's been in the sound department. He's been a sound designer and music composer. This aspect of game development is actually kinda disconnected from the rest of the process, often happening in a completely different studio to where development is happening. He's done a lot of work that's featured in video games, but he's never *MADE* a video game, and certainly not a video game console. He's in over his head, and he doesn't want to admit it.

Someone at the Lehi event who made a fairly neutral post (that the Tommy acolytes are pretending was a "rave review") about the event casually mentioned that the controllers didn't have rumble. So either they still can't get that basic functionality working OR the feature drains the battery quickly and they wouldn't last through the four hour event if enabled. Either way, it doesn't bode well for the controllers being "finished".

The assembling in the US thing is a publicity stunt to say that they are "Proudly assembled in the USA!" I'm sure that holds value for some people.

Just an observation but the space he showed wasn't very big and I only counted about 15 workstations and 2 offices. I work in commercial furniture and spaces like these are the cheapest way to have some sort of office space to get workers together without being responsible for any of the networking resources or furniture, the only thing it looks like he owns is the laptops, folding tables and the cheap branding that's just outside the front door. He's not heavily invested in this space and will probably not be there in a year. It's a poor man's operation right now so he probably really needs money from investors.

Games and accessories have been sold before a console comes out before. Difference is that Sony, MS and Nintendo had the street dates for the consoles out in advance of that happening. I bought Condemned: Criminal Origins a week before the Xbox 360 came out, for example.

I've been to the Intellivision office in Salt Lake. The building complex they are in is a nice rehabbed place, but the area around it is a dump. They literally have hundreds of homeless living around them in a tent city two blocks away.

Amico could very well be the best argument against "physical media" in history. I mean, it's one thing to purchase a game on other platforms and be stuck with an unpatched copy once patch servers go down, but imagine buying a "physical" copy of a game that's completely unusable because the game isn't even on it AND the system it's supposed to play on somehow ends up not even launching.

I'll admit I've been very wrong with some consoles in how much I believed they'd fail, and the Wii definitely tops that list, yet I'm still totally confident the Amico will fail hard.

I wounder how bad this is really gonna be? They are dragging out any information that would make this system credible at all. Ill be amazed if it actually even comes out. hmmmmm....the would may never know.

I really want to buy a PS5 or XBOX Series X but I can’t get the consoles in the stores but lots of physical games stocked on the shelves and no one buys them. But yes I got your point with the Amico. I actually was excited about that console when it was announced 3 years ago. Now I hope it wont get released because it has nothing exciting to offer.

I wonder if assembling and shipping in the US could be a way to just get something in the hands of some investors as a potential endgame? If they can't afford to put together a complete order of 10,000 units(or whatever number) in China then maybe assembling 200 units and refunding the rest could be a way out.
