Hey friends! PLEASE READ: I'm just popping in real quick to give a brief share of what I've been up to this past few weeks. I was waiting until I had most of the details squared away here in our new home to get back into my filming schedule. Now that we are getting nice and settled in, I'm starting to film cozy fall content THIS WEEK! Yay! I can't wait! Thank you for your patience with me during this transition. As hard as it was to leave our beautiful life in California, we believe we are meant to move forward here in Tennessee, and we are loving it!!! I can't express how in love I am with the trees, the weather, the small town feels, and everything we've experienced so far. The weather is quite a departure from CA, and the rain storms and cooler weather give me LIIIFE!!! Getting our fall garden planted was definitely on our list to get done ASAP, and we are already seeing goodness pop up. I've been mostly working on administrative tasks to get everything switched over and scheduled for the upcoming months, and we're getting to the end of all of that. New license plates, drivers licenses, doctors, vets, dentists etc, and we are so thankful for the warm welcome to the south! We are getting to know our new town, and driving into Nashville every once in a while to try out some new restaurants. Now we can get started on some of our DIY projects and goals for the NEW space. I look forward to sharing this next chapter with you.

Uprooting yourself and planting yourself in a completely different environment is extremely stressful. We just did that as well. I wish you peace and joy in this new place ❤

Wow!!! You’ve never watched Gilmore Girls. My daughters and I have watched the entire series 3 times and now that it’s Autumn her in Australia I might be due for another rerun. One of my absolute favourite series. It’s like a big swarm hug!! Hope you enjoy it and Congratulations on you’re move. Aww.. 💜Thanks! I'm so excited for fall. 🍁🎃 Not sure if you watched my last video explaining the move, but to be honest (and I know this might sound weird), I really don't miss the house itself. Don't get me wrong, it was a beautiful home, and we put lots of love and energy into it. I'm very thankful for our time there, and will always have a special place in my heart for that home, but it would take a lot to explain just how much work and financial maintenance went into the upkeep. We tried to be the best stewards of that home while it was ours, but there is a sense of relief to have a lower maintenance and paid off house here in TN. The cost of living out here is night & day, and I really love a simple, peaceful lifestyle. The hardest part of leaving CA was leaving family .. =(

This is so cozy. Thanks to you, I’ve started to DIY again, put more care towards my plants. Growing fruits and vegetables. I have struggled with postpartum depression and your videos are like a light at the end of my tunnel. Thank you for giving me hope & inspiring me. Love your videos, Rachel! I get how moving to a new area/state/weather/routine.. etc.. is challenging. We did at the very peak of the pandemic (2 years ago).. we moved from AZ to FL.. We drove down in 2 days (we had our beautiful fur baby with us). My boys are much older than yours and it was challenging as they left their childhood friends and school.. My oldest was in HS and he had a very rough time (socially). We got through it though.. he is now in his senior year with a great group of friends, his girlfriend, a job, and a rigorous academic year (5APs). My youngest is a sophomore and he has a big group of friends; and 2 APs, doing great.. I have found a couple of good friends (one I walk with on a weekly basis-several miles- and another that we do coffee every 7-10 days).. I love our home and the area we live in.. we also bought a beach house in the Clearwater area..

So happy you are moving to the next chapter in your life. I think you will like Tennessee. I live in North GA. We are having a cool crisp Fall morning at 46 F. I can imagine even though it's a smaller house knowing you have lower overhead expenses is a great comfort in and of itself. Looking forward to you future videos!

Yes. It's a huge relief to have a paid off house. We are excited for the cooler weather. It was 38 F this morning when I dropped my kids off at school. Quite a departure from the 100 F in CA. I'm loving the crisp weather and gorgeous trees everywhere.

I feel the nostalgia in this video. Probably because I'm going through a similar situation and I am still heartbroken. Our family had to move due to the APR increase in our home in California.

Wow what a move!! I just discovered your channel. Glad you & your family were led to a beautiful place like that to start afresh, for whatever reasons. Your property is gorgeous. Your house already looks like a home. Getting documents switched over is no small task! I have never seen Gilmore Girls either but want to watch it badly! On what are you watching it?

If you happen to be in middle tn and have home projects in mind, you should check out Southeastern Salvage. There is one in Nashville and one in Chattanooga and we have gotten many a building material there at a great price. Welcome to TN!

I think you made a super smart and a hard move. I believe as time goes on there is going to be a continued migration of people relocating to climates that are easier to maintain life, but that may include leaving what they were accustomed to behind. Your family has a head start. I would get the animals to the vet to get them on heartworm prevention. I have a sibling that has a forest behind his property and had two dogs die because of that. You are probably aware of but just in case. From what land you have seems really great. I think you have prepared yourself for another great start. cheers

I'm Ellie and I'm from Italy. I love your videos, usually I wait to have 3-4 of them to watch during a stressfull day: you never fail to bring me peace and joy. I love this new chapter of your lives and I'm super happy for you but I was wondering about your brother and his kids...they had transferred near you, then the tragedy happened and now? are they going to be near you as soon as they can or will they stay in California? since you hade your niece and nephew over very often I'm worried about them, they must feel lonely and isolated.

Thank you!! 💜I appreciate that reminder. I struggle with that because I know if I don't "explain," people tend to fill in the blanks with their own narrative. It's a balance that I'm learning with putting my life online. Sometimes people won't always understand or know the whole story, and that's ok.

Awww.Thank you, and I understand. 💜 It was a beautiful home, and we're extremely thankful for the time we had there. 🙏 Personally, my dreams have adjusted & evolved over the years. I crave simplicity and peace, and financial freedom became a big dream of ours. We're excited for our next chapter.

There is one family, in Tennessee and on youtube as well. It's look alike yours, except not in a 'plant based' realm. I think, despite having a different opinion about food preferences, you'd - as families have a lot to exchange, farm wise, household, autumn vibes, etc. They are Dr. Ken Berry and Neisha - if you decide to search it's 'Neisha Loves It' yt channel. I feel like people are leaving CA and moving everywhere. Texas, Idaho, Florida, North and South Carolina, and TN seem to be where a lot of folks are moving.. It's sad CA is pushing so many out..
