@@DbrosVmaker Hi there, it can be up to $1000 and is basically stock of IBKR since they are stock listed, you can then just keep it or if you prefer sell it and cash out, your choice. Cheers

@@DbrosVmaker it gives you 1 bucks per 100 you put in, it is connected to a affiliate link and if you put in ,,, i think it was 2000 bucks and dont lose it or take it out for a year you support the channel with 200 bucks. i would like to see how to daytrade and not use the TWS as this was just to hard for me to understand. i found the portal also a bit puzzling as im not sure if its doing strange things or if im just doing things wrong. im afraid its not the latter as i cant seem to find information explaining the more detailed buy and selling at a fast pase with IB. you can change the currency at will and only decides the accounts displaying. you can switch when ever. and converting the money in to a usd wallet only charges conversion ones allowing you to trade in dollars without fx costs for the active trader, or just changing investment positions.

Great video. I’ve just started using IB. Could you do a video or explain the color coding / status colour when placing an order (pending etc). I know there’s descriptions for the status but would be great to have you go through them. Currently using paper trading getting my feet wet.

Hi Simone👋 Thanks a lot. Indeed, it is not the most user-friendly platform but once you get used to it, is very powerful and trustworthy👌 You could also try Trading 212 which offers commission-free trading and now also allows transfer of shares in and out of the brokers which is great. I always buy market order to be honest, as I invest long-term I am not too bothered if it goes up or down 2-3%, I just buy every week and want to add stocks to my portfolio so it starts growing my dividend income🚀 Cheers

@@SmartMoneywithKai is the best option buying etf there or interactive broker, because we can’t transfer to other brokerage in Lightyear ? Currently I don’t have other stocks since I have 15% discount on Tesla shares as an employee so basically my only stock holding is Tesla! 😀

Hard to say though I saw on Interactive Brokers the option of selecting Lightyear to transfer stocks so that looks positive and Lightyear said they will allow this soon, so might already be possible if they've listed that. I will continue with both. Lightyear also pays nice interest on your cash sitting in your account if you don't invest it plus commission free vs commission on IBKR. Lightyear protects up to €20K, IBKR up to €100K so I'll use both going forward. Congrats on Tesla discount, that's very handy. I am also not too keen on stock picking anymore, but S&P500 weekly buys set it and forget, you can't go wrong with that👌

Thanks for the video. Quite helpful. One quick question, Do you recommend buying the Stocks in Dollars or Eur? I was under the impression that Eur might work better since there is no conversion fee involved (currently reside in Germany) but I think you mentioned that you convert Eur to Dollars in Revolut and then invest in Dollars. What is your thought on this?

Thanks a lot and great question! When living in Germany, investing in Euros can save you the conversion fees, which is smart and cost-effective. However, converting Euros to Dollars via platforms like Revolut allows direct access to U.S. stocks, which could potentially offer better returns given the expansive and dynamic U.S. market. 🇺🇸💰 The minor fee for currency conversion is often overshadowed by the broader range of investment opportunities in the U.S. market. Yet, the preference between investing in Euros or Dollars boils down to personal choice, risk tolerance, and your long-term financial goals. Very helpful video. One thing I can't figure out which was not addressed. What does the Dividends figure shown on the home page refer to? Is it future dividends due or maybe dividends received over a period?

Not sure I fully understand your question, seems you are quite the advanced trader:) They do have stop loss orders in place, if you can draw them on the chart not sure to be honest as I never do that, usually that place a market order since I am long-term buy and hold type of investor:) Cheers

@@SmartMoneywithKai great thanks! yeah i put in months of heavy ICT practice now and can bang around on a nasdaq 5 second chart with a high level of accuracy but i am flat broke and going to sell my boat to fund a trading account and i want to make sure i put it in a broker that i can get good discount futures contracts with and i opened an ironbeam account and through tradingview they do not give you the brokers $500 margin contracts but 25% of exchange margin ($4800 for nq). i wanna be able to throw 5k in and be off to the races. thanks again! IB lists their futures margin contracts at $50 so can get real rich or real broke real fast!!! cheers

Hi 👋 Thanks for watching and glad you found the video informative. Let’s break down the main order types in simple terms: Market Order: This is the quickest way to buy or sell a stock. You tell your broker to buy or sell immediately at the current price. Limit Order: With this order, you set the price you want to buy or sell at. The trade will only happen if the stock reaches that price. For example, if you want to buy a stock for $50, but it’s currently $55, the trade will only go through if the price drops to $50 or less. Stop Order (Stop-Loss Order): This helps protect you from big losses. You set a price lower than the current price. If the stock drops to that price, it will automatically sell at the best available price. Stop-Limit Order: This combines a stop order and a limit order. You set a stop price and a limit price. If the stock hits the stop price, it turns into a limit order, meaning it will only sell at your limit price or better. Trailing Stop Order: This is a smart way to lock in profits. You set a trailing amount, either a percentage or a dollar amount, below the stock’s current price. If the stock price goes up, the trailing stop moves up with it. If the stock then drops by that trailing amount, it will sell automatically. I hope this makes it clearer. Cheers, Kai

Thanks for this video. You said you “did it with Revolut”, talking about portfolio transfers from one broker to another. I know that Revolut doesn’t allow for portfolio transfer from Revolut to another broker. Could you please clarify what you meant? If Revolut allows it now and I don’t know it, please let me know

Hi there, great question, both IBKR (Hungary) & Revolut EU protect your funds up to €100K www.revolut.com/en-DE/legal/deposit-insurance-information/ Yes, Lightyear's €20K is a bit low, but I guess once I hit that number there, I would just have a second and third broker to be on the safe side and be fully protected. The API looks very cool and what I find is that this website unlike every other broker I have checked so far is that it doesn't have any trackers on it. The only down side I think many brokers got is that you got to sell your soul in order to make an account. They want to know everything about you before you can do anything.

@@SmartMoneywithKai KYC just depresses me because it's hard to answer it all, the info can be used against you and data breaches happen that can leak all of it. It's a guilty until proven innocent approach. You could be the most innocent of people and you'll still need to give them all of the information you got for their mass surveillance because they don't trust you. And now even though I tried to answered it all and agreed to who knows what, in the end I do have an ID but no passport so it might not even be accepted. They also made bank transfers very hard so I'd need to get the only other option that is Wise. The government wants us to trust them while they don't trust us.

Hi Ausgapore, great question. So you won't pay any US withholding tax on it and the expense ratio is already factored in. Commission when you buy and tax when you sell and on dividends will be paid by you. Hope this helps. Cheers

Thanks Kai for the great simple video. I started with IBKR a year ago as a small, long-term investor but haven't looked at it until I came across your video. One quick question: I've activated the "DRIP" in the platform and so, following the receipt of an annual gain (say, dividend, or so), I shouldn't touch it because it will automatically reinvests it, doesn't it?? Hi there, thanks a lot and that's correct. If you've enabled it, IB will automatically buy more of the same shares with it, which might be fractional shares in case it's not enough for a full share. Hi, on IB you would have to first convert it. You can either do it on the platform or exchange before and already send it as USD, which is what I do with my Revolut account and then wire it to IB. Cheers

Hi Erik, that's correct, but pretty high requirements to get that. Here is what it says for EU investors: Accounts with a Net Asset Value (NAV) of USD 100,000 (or equivalent) or more are paid yield at the full rate for which they are eligible. Accounts with NAV of less than USD 100,000 (or equivalent) receive yield at rates proportional to the size of the account. There will be no interest paid up to USD 10,000 of cash. Hi, just pull the statements/annual reports you need and submit to your tax authority, pretty straight forward, but they do not pay the taxes for you, only withholding tax from US stocks is handled by them directly. Cheers

Hi Jack, that's strange. I would have said change your base currency, which I did as well since I faced the same challenge and after changing it worked, but if you don't have that option that's odd. Otherwise you can create a margin account which should also work, though I don't like having margin. Otherwise, definitely reach out to the support to be sure. Good luck 🤞

Technically you can login to all those different apps with one account, but the desktop app is only for frequent trader and very messy, don't use it. Hi Jurij, yes, indeed not the best, that's why I don't recommend Revolut for trading and have moved my portfolio to Interactive Brokers. They do have clear commissions on each stock trade which they show you clearly before you buy, though I recommend changing from Fixed to Tiered pricing, much cheaper for lower volume. Otherwise they don't have any inactivity fees or monthly portfolio fees and they have a much better spread price, difference between bid and ask price which is important meaning you get best prices on the instrument you buy. Lastly, the dividend withholding tax you've mentioned is not because of Revolut but US tax laws, which usually comes to 30%, however, IBKR can help you prepare a form W-8 BEN to help you lower that percentage from 30% to 15% if your country allows, which majority of EU countries do. As I understand you can only DRIP full shares on IB, not fractional, though personally I always reinvest manually as I might want to use the dividends to buy cheaper stocks at the time of pay out instead of the one that paid me the dividend. Hi there, good point, you could disable different marketplaces in the settings to only buy stocks in Europe for example, then you would only see those listed in EUR. But to be honest, after a while you get used to the marketplace names, so when you see the same stock listed in different places, you will see by the abbreviation that it's listed in Frankfrutt for example so it will be in EUR and you will also see that before buying of course. It costs USD 2 per conversion so you could convert one time a big amount and then just use your USD without any fees. I exchange my EUR to USD on Revolut and then send USD to my IBKR account, cheapest way👌

Hi there, well that would not really change anything, that's why it's good to hold company stocks, if this was to happen, which might eventually, but probably still a while out, you would receive CBDC as Dividends or as proceeds once you sell a stock, no difference to buying stocks in different currencies👌That's why it's better than just keeping your cash at home or at the bank. From their website it says: IBKR generally does not offer clients the ability to participate in an IPO (Initial Public Offering) of a US company. IBKR may offer the ability for clients to participate in IPOs outside of the US. Such offerings are done on a case by case basis. In the event an IPO is open for clients, please login into Client Portal, click Trade > IPO Subscription. You will be will provided with a list of currently active IPOs. Hope this helps. Cheers

Hi Carlos, if you deposit €20 you will receive €20. If your base currency is EUR you can't exchange to USD on IB so you should either change your base currency to USD then you can deposit EUR and exchange on IB pay USD 2 in fee and get the best possible current exchange rate, otherwise, like I do, exchange EUR to USD on Revolut and deposit USD directly to IB via Revolut. @@CarlosPedroche Great. You’ll definitely get better rate on IB but if it’s a small amount the USD 2 conversion fee might eat into your total costs. But I found anything over 1K IB is much better👍

Hi there and yes, absolutely, it's called a fractional share. Most brokers allow that, you could own 0.1 of a share even, really nice especially for expensive shares it can be helpful👍

Hi there, it will show you when you click on preview, but for me it's now usually €1.25 per order which is very reasonable as you also get one of the lowest spreads across different brokers who say they are commission free but charge you more for the purchase price of your stock/ETF. Also, make sure to change to tiered instead of fixed pricing, it will be cheaper. Cheers

From what i know ETF"s in general has some taxes once per year or something like that for the service they offer to replicate a certain group of assets. I am not asking about the transaction fees per say, do oyu know something like this?

Ah, I think you are referring to the Expense ratio of an ETF, this should be as low as possible to maximise your returns. VUSA has a 0.07% annual expense ratio which is one of the lowest you can get in Europe. You won't see any of these charges, this is basically netted off on an annual basis by your broker to your total holdings, but since it's such a small amount you probably won't even notice it, we probably spend more on exchange conversion fees:) Hope this helps. This is due to the concept of 'unsettled cash,' which still allows you to trade before the funds have fully settled. So, if you sell your Amazon stock, you should be able to buy another stock right away without waiting. Hi and thanks for you kind comment. Commission change over time and you also have the option of choosing between fixed and tiered commission pricing at IB so it’s not black and white. So given my other videos comparing 10 other brokers I find $0.39 cents commission, a very low commission😉 But you are always welcome to navigate your mouse to the link of IB and check for yourself to make your own judgment. But this is my video and my opinion 😉 Cheers
