The Armenian language belongs to the Indo-European family of languages and stands out in it in a special branch. Armenian writing is considered one of the oldest. The unique Armenian alphabet was created by Mesrop Mashtots in 405-406 AD. According to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2015, the Armenian language entered the fifty most influential world languages (48th place).
