When you first started taking interior design classes, did you have a drafting (by hand) class and did you have a knack for it, or did you have some difficulty? I have an F in my class right now and trying to salvage my grade somehow. Thanks for all the advice and tips they've been really helpful!

aww don't give up! It for sure takes some time and little patience to get through it. I had my struggles with it at first and then grew to love it. Just keep practicing and you got this! 💪

Hi Sandra, thank you so much fo your videos! You inspired me to go to school, and I'm almost done with my online certificate, just 2 more classes to go! I was wondering, so I am obsessed with Sketchup now, I absolutely love it and I feel like I'm really passionate about building a space in 3D, and really working this medium. But I often wonder if the transition from working solely in 3D to working in an actual space will be more than I can handle? What was your experience like transitioning from school where you are developing concepts solely on the computer, to real life work where you are working with actual physical space, contractors, plumbers, etc...like actually knocking down and building walls and such? I get scared thinking i won't be able to handle the reality of it, but I also pray I actually get to that next phase where I'm actually working IRL. Would love to know your thoughts!

Oh that is amazing to hear! Do you mind sharing what online certificate you applied to and how you found it useful? Would love to share that info with everyone else =) or you can dm me that dets. The transition from 3D to real life is not at all a tough transition! I think it gives you a clearer picture and idea when you go from 3D modeling to visiting the actual space. It's actually a really exciting process and it helps transform your way of thinking. Instead of being in concept mode when 3D modeling you start envision that 3D model as the real space. You absolutely got this and I hope that made sense!

@@SandraJessicaChavez That is so encouraging, thank you so much! I wanted to add that although I am a creative designer, I was never much of say a DIY-er or someone who is continually updating my space, so when I see online all these fantastic DIY-ers on youtube (LoneFox, Mr. Kate etc) I tend to have a little bit of imposter syndrome when it comes to interior design. But I love when you said that visiting an actual space will transform my way of thinking, I'm super excited about that part!!! The certificate program I am in is the Interior Design Certificate at Parsons New School in NYC. It's 6 required classes and 2 electives, I started late Jan, and should be done by mid-Fall. I found it useful because by taking the course it holds me accountable for getting projects done. For example , I never would have been able to learn Sketchup by watching youtube videos alone, I really needed a structure and assignments and feedback from a teacher to really get the information in. It is also a great opportunity to see that there are people of stages in the program, from completely brand new, to architects who want more exposure to interior design, so it make some feel like I'm in actual community and like I'm moving in teh right direction, rather than just by myself. Thank you again for all the support you give to everyone! I'm feeling like more and more the transition from Sketchup/concept to real life won't be too scary!
