Following the concepts of lighting an exterior scene we are now lighting the interior scene. The techniques are pretty similar, the method of using portals to focus the diffuse samples is new. This way we can reduce the amount of noice in the rendering.

Thank you so much Sir ! Your teaching method is just awesome I have learnt so much from a single video the most important part is that whatever you teach , gets registered in our brains and that's fantastic ! God bless you with good health 🙏

you need to rotate the skydome light and you can fine-tune the HDRI position interactively :)

You bring your HDRI into the Material editor before you use it in your skydome. because now you can rotate the hdri in the material editor.

Great video, you explain everything , its so easy to follow. I am just beginning in 3ds and Arnold and although I've seen many videos , you explain it the best. I'm having a problem when placing the quad light my render is almost black. what am i doing wrong? cant figure it out .

To fix that there is a lot of possible solutions. Make the exposure value really small and check again. Increase the intensity of the light 10 times and check again. Check if the light is not inside a wall. Check if the camera is inside a wall.

I had this same problem and I figured that it happened because of the downloaded scene. The scene was too big, so I scaled it down are readjusted the camera and lights, and it worked.

hmm ..is it not wise to material all the scene first my dude, with gray mat all look ok but what'll happen when its materialed ? second : is it wise to use 2 light outside interior ? i meant i know what you want to do , but imho maybe 1 light + background is enough tho..3. is arnold still haven't feature like light mix in vray or corona? its very useful to lighting the interior scene.

Every face (triangular element) has a front side that is visible and a backside tha is invisible. So maybe something that looks like itbis not there is just flipped.

Extremely difficult to place texture and maps to a model with Arnold ... Hope I can find a clear video for that

Placing materials with textures on objects works the same way in every renderengine. I have tried to show a few ways in 2 videos. (UVW Map modifier, Unwrap UVW)

Excuse,How to use arnold lights exclude objects in max?
@AFTutorials
@AFTutorials 2 жыл бұрын
With Arnold Lights you do not exclude objects from the light itself, but you tell the object not to receive certain rays of light or shodows or anything like that. Select the object and apply the "Arnold Properties" modifier. Here you can select or deselect whatever you need. Good luck.

Hi. I really liked your exterior lighting video, but when I used my model for the interior lighting, even though I see some light in the shaded viewport (with scene lights) when i render everything is black. I dont know what i am doing wrong. I have to say that my scene is an autocad 3d scene linked to 3ds max in meters. I have glass windows (solid) but I also have the front door open. I see the light but nothing gets rendered. Can you think of something ? *edit* Don` t bother, I feel so stupid. I used the camera controls to adjust the view and "somehow" the camera was the problem. it was in the wall. what i cant understand is why I could see it in viewport. I moved camera, problem solved.

Hi, there are several things you wantvto check: materials: give everything in your model a material that is compatible with Arnold and render again. EV: use am extremely low exposure value (2) in you camera and render again. Select the glass and hide it temporarily, maybe its blocking the light. Scale: check if the size of the model fits the units defined under customize-units setup. Sounds funny, but is thereba chance that either the camera or the light is inside of an object? Wall, floor ... Those are the most likely reasons.

You can't see maps in the viewport using arnold it's 2022 not 1985.

Arnold's dome light and physical sky are super noisy on interior renders, so if you were hoping for clean interiors using them yes, render times would be stupid. Instead you have to use the distant light for the sun and light the interior with quads. Avoid lighting through glass (i.e. window) as that increases noise but if you have a backlit room like in this example you can have a quad just outside and light link it so it only affects the glass and not the rest of the interior. It's also super easy to over sample with Arnold particularly if you increase the diffuse rays trying to clean up the GI. Using Arnold's adaptive sampling and changing the threshold (the default is too much) helps clean noise a lot. Also using the newer Global Light sampling feature can also shave off render time. Lastly using Arnold's Noice de-noiser will clean up the image nicely. Ultimately it just depends on what you prefer. Corona is super easy and and good out of the box, just add a sun and sky and you're good to go. If you want to be a bit more hands on then Arnold works to.
