Join Lance & Wyatt as they tackle the interior on the 1954 international metro, creating custom wheel tubs & raised floor. While trying to preserve the patina inside the metro, Lance recreates the faux patina paint finish to match the existing look inside the van.

I liked that you showed how you shaped the angle iron with the “Shrinker/Stretcher”. I observed though that you both were working on the floor while doing the fitting. I think that I saw a folding table in the background. When I work on my DIY projects, I try to raise my work whenever possible. That saves my back and legs.

Great job on matching in the newly fabricated sections with the existing, very artistic. Very good fabrication works with basic tooling, takes good basic skills to do that. I’d be interested to have seen how you managed the interface with the outside of the wheel tubs with the van bodywork and also how you sealed it and the seams inside (as in underneath) the wheel rubs. That looks like a nice warm dry climate you are in there, if that’s the van that’s going to Ireland then rust protection is a big issue. Any underside cracks or seams will tend to rust, I know it wouldn’t be a daily driver but even so. Very inventive guys and a nice family dynamic there, pleasant to see.

It would be interesting to ask the original manufacturer what they think about turning a basic utility vehivle into a piece of rolling artwork. Interesting videos on the channel so far. I like the step by step part of them vs shows like Gas Monkey where you go from wreack to jewel in one 45 min episode.

Carlos Quintana When I went to work in the boiler industry I encountered almost everyone groveling on the floor while taking things apart or assembling them. Personally I consider this a sign of “just get it done” mentality and sloppy work. I made a three by six table with removable legs and brought it to the job site along with a small vise. Suddenly I’m a genius and even the other trades tried to use “our” workbench! All my coworkers remarked how much easier the work table made things! But none of them would make one on their own.

Hey great show guys, keep up the good work. I think when your working on stuff like hooking up fuel lines to make the engine run you should have done that stuff off set, and had it previously setup, then rite after you tell us what your gonna do, pause then feed us something else to look at like maybe something from your sponsor, then when you come back, show us the fire up.. by the way where is the big reveal? we wanna see the customer get his metro and the effect and happiness.. come on? you gotta show us the finally.. PS I'll send you a contact, I have a Guy up here makes some really nice old school rims would look great on these metros and old school builds..

It kinda looks like you're making it up as you go along, which is fine, but I would have started with a pair of steel trailer fenders with the back plates already welded on and just modified them to fit. Would have saved a ton of work. I'd like to see how you finished up the outside of the wheel wells. Are they welded to the inside body panels? Anyway, it looks great.

Excellent work fellas. Kind of curious as to the factory interior panels. Did you have to cut them or were they already separated at that height? Also would have like to have seen you fitting those panels back in. Love the paint work you are very talented.
