we are running critically low on topsoil and fossil water resources. My Main Point has been that those african ships hauling livestock feed out of here have been as unregulated as their heroin. farmers should not go Entirely by the market, you should understand that here by now. they should set a little more aside for forage, or just set aside. but with forage, the compaction is minimal, and the animals really do help build it up. on the politics; the folly of all humanity has been approaching subsaharans with reasoning, expecting the same results as normal people. but Every Time someone does that, they are handing the subsaharans everything they need to know to figure out another way to continue without anyone finding out about it. anyone telling them to stop just sends their minds strait into workarounds...they are not stupid, they are different intelligent...but They ARE NOT normal people.

Thanks for showing the vessels still monitoring the site of the Exxon Valdez oil spill from 35 years ago.. that's reassuring, but also a sobering reminder of the harm we can inflict on nature. Sohvi and Juho: I remember your episode, inspecting Lumi in Napa, California and thought, "my goodness, I wonder who designed this spacious 44ft sailboat"? You both have turned her into a picture of function and one of a tidy, cozy Alaskan hideaway on the water. We love the carpet Sohvi designed on the cabin floor, the diesel heat, the galley arrangement, etc.. The aft dining room area with all the seating or Sohvi's space is awesome, truly a lovely area for inviting friends or relaxing with a good book. We haven't heard from you for a while and were concerned that the Alaskan winters had taken their toll. Wishing you a safe and beautiful passage through the Northwest Passage. Before Valdez opened up the Pipeline, Exxon ran an icebreaker bow Tanker through this passage, studying the feasibility of crude oil transport. I happened to have been the Third Mate on this passage and later ran the Valdez to Long Beach run with ARCO Marine, Inc.. We can't wait for your coming episodes and want to thank you both again for making us welcome in your cozy and comfortable Home.

My fiance and I lived on a 27ft sailboat and for a while it was very cold. We would have snow on our boat and iced up portholes. We wore lots of layers, had a nice down bag to sleep in, took bucket showers, and drank instant coffee as well. Not that we did it for nearly as long as you guys have but it gave me such an appreciation for what you guys do and I find it awesome. Although I'm not a big fan of the cold myself, I find the lifestyle you guys have so fascinating and you're one of the main sailing channels I watch most frequently. ❤️

I love you little plugs for Finland, (: never knew that is where fiskar scissors originated. Also if you are enjoying instant coffee, do not try fresh ground. Like most things once you sample the better alternative, it is hard to enjoy the other and then you will have to add more items to the boat. winter toys/gear take up alot of room, no way around it.

I grew up in the USA, but further north than about 1/3 of the population of Canada. Then I moved to the Colorado mountains, so I know what is required to safely survive in the north-country. So when you were prepping the boat in California I was concerned that you simply had insufficient room to stow everything you needed in order to maintain and operate the boat in polar wintertime, as well as carry along all of your gear for your various hobbies, and of course your filming equipment, batteries, accessories and food supplies. Then there was the matter of supplies for employment, and boat parts, tools, and emergency back-ups simply because you are often far from boat supply shops. I found myself adding it all up in my head and it made me concerned that you might be forced to make some compromises that could affect your safety. However, I noted that you very carefully chose your clothing and bedding, and got only the highest quality gear, such as the HH garments. They made real sense. If you don't have room to stow a wide variety of clothing, then get the best, garments of exceptional quality materials and construction that won't fail at the first inconvenient time, and that are adjustable for a wide variety of conditions. As I watch your day to day lives I note many of the small things and careful choices you've made to be certain that you are up to the challenges of your winter sailing environment. Yes, your boat looks 'lived in', but I know you can explain why you have every single thing on your boat, why it is where it is, and the other uses it could be put to if needed. For instance, those who don't fully understand your environment probably wonder why your sleeping bags are sitting out loose, not compressed and stuffed tightly into stuff bags. As for me, if I saw they were compressed and stuffed into bags I would wonder if you really knew what you were doing. But I'm quite certain you do, and I watch the small things you do for tips that I can use in similar circumstances. Enjoy.

Great walk through. Thanks for making this video. I'm guessing the weather has been normal and kept you pretty much captive to the boat. Yet even that is some feat and only your very well considered preparations have made it possible. I would like to comment on the notion of time: Every day, all situations, the cold, the howling winds; just you two. Keeping sane is also quite some achievement.
