To me your plan sounds great and correct way to approach this . u can also search for colleges that have masters in interiors and allow students from all spheres cause then u will have a masters degree but u will have to research for the same.

Hii Helena , Anything you are comfortable in, if you can schedule time out from your day and have a disciplined plan for learning each day for dedicated hours you can learn online for sure its no different I have learned every software by myself and some from my mentors

Hii Srishti , great yar u have good idea about these basics but then there is allot more to interiors not just thia , different materials application , details ,, standards. The things u are mentioning are just foundation of designing , details cant be produced from them...... Having said that if u feel u are ready and u need no formal training then develop your portfolio housing few hypothetical projects and then u can apply ( I will again say interiors is very wast feel not just basic design principles and cad its more than that ) application of stone on ceiling is done a certain way if u are unaware of such details any sort of mishappning can happen for end user so my advice would be to go under maybe small but formal training where u can add to you knowledge 🙃 i hope i could help ❤️🌼
