Interment Ceremony of USS Arizona Survivor Estellee Birdsell

The National Park Service and the United States Navy conducted the interment of Estelle Birdsell on December 5, 2017.
Estelle and his brother, Rayon, were both assigned to the USS Arizona and on board on December 7, 1941. Estelle survived the attack; his brother did not. Now, Estelle has been reunited with his brother.
His family was there to participate in the interment of his urn into the hull of the ship. Full military burial honors were rendered to Mr. Birdsell by the United States Navy, and his interment into the ship was accomplished by the National Park Service Dive Team.

Job well done. Though we have lost our brother here on earth, Estelle is now with his former brothers and family where he wants to be. I am sure that this ceremony made him proud and is eternally wearing a wide smile. RIP

I want to thank whoever posted this elegant and moving ceremony I found by accident. It truly touched my heart and brought me to tears. May both brothers rest in eternal peace with their shipmates.

GOD BLESS you Mr. Birdsell and your brother for your HEROISM! THANK YOU, SIR, for your service to all the people of this GREAT NATION. If I may, I would like to offer a poem in memory and rememerberance of Mr. Birdsell and his brother: The sun goes down and leaves warmth upon the land. The tide recedes and leaves seashells in the sand. The music stops and echoes in sweet refrain... For all you`ve down and given through your COURAGE and conviction, only beautiful and cherished memories will forever remain. NOW you are finally reunited with your beloved brother. May both your wonderful, loving, courageous, HEROTIC souls forever rest in eternal peace in God's eternal kingdom. All of us will NEVER forget your COURAGE and the UTIMATE SACRIFICE that you and your brother made for all of us and this GREAT country so we can enjoy the FREEDOMS that we have today.Both of you will always be REMBERED with PROFOUND VENERATION and NEVER FORGOTTEN.
