Congratulations on a beautiful performance! Just one thing, this is not an "unheard" piece. It's one of the most beloved and frequently played piano pieces in Latin America. For piano beginners in Latin America, it's a bit like "Fur Elise" (I'm not comparing the pieces, but just the frequency with which people learn to play this piece). And for professional pianists, this is a favorite. Ponce is considered one of the most important composers in Latin America (certainly in Mexico). His music for guitar is considered a core part of the repertoire. His violin piece "Estrellita" was a favorite of Heifetz and can be heard in concert halls world wide up to now. And his orchestra music was seminal to the Nationalist Classical Music movement in Mexico (the equivalent of what happened in Europe with Kodaly). In any case, thank you for playing it so beautifully and introducing it to many of your fans.

Wow! I heard this piece the first time a few months ago and started learning it recently. This week I was ready to hear different performances and interpretations of it so came to KZfaq and listened to everyone who posted this piece. Lots of expression and passion in performing this wonderful piece from everyone, but I was not satisfied with any performance. 😔 I felt everyone was adding things into the music (or omitting) that Ponce did not write-changing it drastically from what he would have wanted imho.
