I am on my Weight loss journey. I have been only eating lunch at 12:00(11:00 on weekends) and Dinner at 7. I started this a month ago(A long with healthier diet, and working out regularly, and drinking lemon water). I was 300.0 when I started but now when I weighed my self yesterday I was 270.6. Yup down 30 lbs in one month.

I agree totally. Fasting is very healthy. When fasting your body repairs its cells, when eating too much it just makes new cells causing cancers and such.Only eat over an 8 hr period or less. Fast as much as possible.Thank You Dr : )

When this episode first showed up a few days ago, I didn't watch it because I'm terrible at fasting. The only fasting I knew of was to go for long periods of time (1+ days) consuming nothing but water. I never could do it. Today I decided to watch and I'm so glad I did! I know I can do it now just by following your advice. How you explained the different ways to fast makes a lot more sense .. Thank you so much for these videos, I would be completely lost without your advice!

My schedule is 7 pm is my evening meal. Depending on work I may have a can of sardine's or tuna around 10 if I cannot make it to 12 or 1PM. Most days my first meal is 12-1. What has made the biggest change, I think, is eliminating snacks. I feel better maybe overeating my first meal and have a lighter second evening meal. And thanks again for your insights and teaching.

Thank you Dr. for the thorough explanation of each type of fasting method. Can you explain how would diabetics handle this kind of schedule when told to check sugars ac/hs, take their medication and follow a 3 meal, 2 snacks in our traditional approach? I’d worry about hypoglycemic events for db pts. Thanks for your answer.

You are welcome, if you are not on insulin or sulfonylurea drugs you should not expect a low during fasting, best is to consult with your endocrinologist to go over your meds while you are fasting.

Dear Dr. Ergin Thanks for another great video. Iam type 2 diabetes. I stopped taking metaformin 6 month ago... on my own.... Because it didn't help at ALL. I am on the Mediterranean diet. Love it. My sugar glucose is on control more or less... still monitoring what spikes my sugar from time to time. My question is: I Am underweight, as a result of my diet. Is fasting OK with me??? What the best way of fasting? I don't want to loose even 1 kilo any more. ... people, don't envy me, 😊 underweight is not fun THANK YOU DR. FOR ANSWERING. GOD BLESSED

But Dr....i thought you said, in a more recent video that skipping breakfast is not advisable for the sugar metabolism and those who skip breakfast have a 21% risk of developing Diabetes. I am a prediabetic with an A1C of 5.9% and i am sorry to say i am a bit confused by the rather conflicting videos. How should i intermittently fast....as i prefer the 16/8 method

Does intermittent fasting also works (Remission) on type 2 if you acquire it genetically or it runs in family? We got ours in father side.

I have the opposite problem of most people with diabetes, I lost weight with it. I need to find a way to gain weight and lower my A1c. I had been doing I.F. with keto for l month when I did my blood work. My A1c was over 11 so my doctor put me on Metformin. It calls for 1 pill in morning and 1 in evening.

Intermittent fasting is great.. Except the gastric issues that come with it.. It can severely damage the guts.. If you can come up with a way to bypass the gastric issue., it's fantastic.

Yeah I agree intermittent fasting really helps my control as a T1D. The less insulin you use, the less likely you are to go into either hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia from a miscalculation with insulin. I feel the most important thing to do (from personal experience) is to figure out your true physiological basal dose. Apparently the best formula to use is 0.2u x (kg) of body weight. Assuming low insulin resistance (ADA medical literature). Insulin resistant people tend to have to multiple their kg mass by either 0.4 to 0.6u per kg. Most people true basal dose range from 10U to 18U for a steady target between 75 to 99 mg/dl. My basal dose is 14U split in two Tresiba doses each 7U, I weigh 84kg. Intermittent fasting appears to be very beneficial to both longevity and celular health, not just fasting but caloric restriction at least in lab rats.

Dr. Ergin, could you become my endocrinologist? Mine does not really believe hat fast it's going to reverse my diabetes. My A1 C is 7 and I don't want to end up doing insulin. Metformin does not seem to be doing the trick. If you cannot become my doctor can you recomend someone in the Maryland area? Thank you in advance.

I normally weigh 178 and my height is 5'9". I was just told I was pre-diabetic A1C 5.8. Ok I work out and want to maintain muscle mass. I have been doing he 18 hour fast and then eating 2 meals within 6 hours. In 5 days I lost 9 pounds! It looks like it is all muscle loss in my legs. I don't want to look like a POW. I wasn't fat to begin with. How can I maintain muscle with this fasting?
@sandrine1025
@sandrine1025 2 жыл бұрын
Do you feel weaker when working out? Do you strength train, as in lift weights? If not, lift weights 3x a week, do compound lifts...look into a program. Are you sure you lost muscle or could it have been fluid retention from elevated glucose levels? Make sure you are eating enough food in your 6 hour window. You are not trying to cut calories. You are only trying to cut your eating window time.
