Can I ask what you mean about women producing eggs? Isn’t it true that you are born with all the eggs you’ll ever have, so what do you mean exactly that women cannot produce eggs if they are underweight?
@bigred5086 ай бұрын
"producing eggs" means the eggs in a woman's ovaries will leave the ovary into the fallopian tubes in preparation for fertilization. If fertilized, moves to the womb and anchors to the wall of the womb to grow a baby. If not fertilized the lining of the womb along with the unfertilized eggs will shed (menstrual cycle)@@zombae634
@bigred5086 ай бұрын
sorry, also, if an underweight female does not produce sufficient hormones to trigger the reproductive cycle, no eggs will be released from the ovaries.

My husband started fasting last August (2020) and I decided to join with him. It was the most positive thing we’ve done together & for each other in 48 years of marriage. He’s lost almost 50 pounds and I’ve reached my goal weight. We fast from 6pm to noon the next day or eat just one meal. We switch it up. Neither of us are on any medications and we walk each day. Recently we added some squats and a few other exercises. We enjoy a variety of foods and an occasional treat but we have no overwhelming need to cheat. By eliminating unhealthy fats, sugars & grains we notice a difference in our mental health as well. We wish we would have known about this years ago because we would have saved time & money if we had ditched the three square meals a day plus snacks routine. You can do this!

What a weird comment on a video about women fasting? Hmmmm... I’m really Starting to wonder how legit is this Fung guy?
@rockprincess78643 жыл бұрын
Although women were mentioned more, the video was about hormones and fasting. Men have hormones too! It seems the hormones we "share" with men cause women difficulties at certain times during our cycle. Feeling much more sympathy for the man in my life. What's been your key for successful maintenance?
@monalisisodia3 жыл бұрын
@@Ketchup38 hi! I'd say following IF for about 5 days a week and going easy on 2 days. That way it becomes sustainable. Also, on travels not indulging much in the transit(fasting in the transit as much as possible including saying no to the free meals onboard) but wholly enjoying the local delicacies after reaching the destination is the balance that helps me stay on track despite the indulgences. What also helps is to keep a watch on my weight (2kgs + and I almost in autopilot start either cutting down on food moderately or increasing the fasting window). My understanding is that it's super tough to lose weight post 40; so am extremely vigilant in keeping a tab on it.

So now I’m back on omad since mid March but not doing it as religiously as I did back in 2020. I was very low carb back then never any sweets no sugary stuff. Today it’s different I have low carb days and some aren’t I enjoy a couple of chocolate bars after my omad on some days and some days I don’t. I’m losing weight still so it works good for me. Have every day around 12pm my omad and I drink just sparkling water 24/7. It was a life changer for me I love fasting and I’m a total believer it’s the best way ever. So another 11lbs to go and I’m at my goal weight.

Dr Fung makes me so proud to be Canadian, he's our best kept secret. The fast & processed food companies along with the pharmaceutical industry likely have his picture on their dart boards. Time for the government to step in and teach this to the kids in school so they can teach their parents. The next time you're grocery shopping or in a busy coffee shop count the percentage of overweight/ obese people and then watch what they buy and eventually will eat. Unfortunately you can only watch, they don't want help. Eventually they plug up our health care system but make the above mentioned industries wealthy with our governments blessings. Dr Fung for Prime Minister. Next checkout our politicians obesity levels!🤔😖

Sounds like your just losing water weight and then putting it back on. Try 5 day water fast. I lost 12 pound and then gained back six after an couple day of eating normally. Which is to be expected. The other pounds did not come back (true fat burn). I’m 58 and was 154 pounds pre-diabetic and year post breast cancer. Hadn’t seen under 150 in a long time. 146 and holding and want to try another water fast to get under 140. Can’t stay on keto like i could in my forties. I actually enjoyed my fasting time. Every ache and pain went away. Was at a birthday party of granddaughter and enjoyed the smell of pizza without the desire to eat. Only felt tired on day three (that was when i hit 8 pounds down), lots of energy on the other days. Only had cravings on the day I drank a little Diet Pepsi. (I made sure to stick with only water and one sugar free Gatorade a day after that.

Thanks for talking about fasting for women - I would really love to hear more about this. The only person I found who works with a different approach for women when it comes to fasting and LC is Mindy Pelz. It would be great to have more in depth information about this all from you.
@jessie96533 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree, Dr. Mindy seems a bit all over the place for me. I eat just one meal a day and if I did what she wanted I would be mixing all different fasting from day to day. Just to much for me. I'm a simple person 😆
@Morticia1473 жыл бұрын
@@jessie9653 Ok, it's not that chaotic but I know what you mean. To me it sounds reasonable that women should fast differently than men, because of our massive monthly hormonal shift. And I have a massive problem with mine, they are pretty much done. But the only resource I have on that topic is one person. I have a very high opinion of Jason Fung, so I would love to hear his view of things.

I'd like to know about this too. One thing I do know: I can do a 16:8 fast w/o too much discomfort, but more than 16 hours on a regular basis would drive me nuts. I also am very wakeful if I'm hungry at night. It's a real balancing act!

@@Careless932 GREAT! I do have to watch for hypoglycemia (which has more to do with WHAT I eat than when in my case) and insomnia. I woke last night with that 'wide awake and rumbly tum' thing that aggravates me so. I drank some water with a splash of pink grapefruit (powders I get from True Citrus) and was able to go back to sleep after about 1/2 hour.

as I watch this video what I contemplate is how much physical weight I have to release: (75.2 Lbs to be precisely exact!) for the sake of my health and for my well-being. the thing is though... I realize that I desperately also hold on to all the excess weight: for safety and for comfort. dear God, please please please, help the weight dissolve off of me, and please help me to no longer have the need to hold on to any of it, for the illusion of safety and protection. I am ready to be permanently, forever released from these shackles...

I fast, not for weight loss but for the health benefits 😍...all my adult life I have weighted between 125 to 130 lbs and I’m 5’5”. I started fasting about 2 years ago on and off, but about 1 month ago I decided to stick to it for life. I only eat 1 big meal per day: dinner, and none, 1, or 2 snacks depending on how I feel. I can’t eat more than 1 big meal per day because I feel too full. I love all the info you provide Dr. Fung 😍....Thank you 🌸

I know your comment was a year ago and I hope you're still doing well with your fasting. I was wondering what your eating window is. I'm your height and would like to get down to about 125. I have 25 lbs. to go. Im eating OMAD and use an eating window of around 2 hrs. Thank you in advance.

You don't know how bad I needed this video, thanks sooo much, it was extremely helpful. I get so frustrated when people tell me it's not healthy for me to eat one meal a day 😠. I feel better than I've felt in years. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2013. My husband found out about fasting in 2017. I started out with 16/8 then 20/4 Now OMAD. I do not take any meds for RA and I feel amazing and lost almost 35lb. Losing the weight was just a bonus, I was doing for the benefits for the RA 😁 Oh and my husband does OMAD as well. It's great that we can do it together ☺️

@Sio's world ...to avoid rebounding you should consider a sustainable diet. Chicken, broccoli and asparagus as a meal is not sustainable in my opinion. If you can eat that for the rest of your life then fine. The calories also sound super low which means that your body will adapt and your BMR will reduce. Maybe consider adding some coconut oil to your meal as well as some rice or any other carbohydrate that you like. This will not create a huge insulin spike if you are worried about that because fats and fibre when eaten with carbs will prevent this huge spike. You would also still lose weight but at least you would have a bit of all the macronutrients in the one meal that you are having per day.

Thank you so much for the info Dr. Fung, I have a question/comment- I heard completely opposing information regarding information on when to fast when a woman is on her cycle- on this video, Megan shared its better to fast on weeks 1 and 2 because estrogen is an appetite suppressant- but I’ve heard the complete opposite, that women should NOT fast on those weeks because it alters the hormones- I’m just confused with the different information. Thanks in advance for the work you do!
