We only put on reduction starters now when replacing starters. On the mold diesels you're probably gain the ability to start the tractor another 5 maybe 10 degrees colder than before. So if before you had to give the tractor a little assist at 35 degrees now it's going to be able to start at 25 degrees!

Good day Jon Stevens Maple Grove Farms. I have 574, I live in Ont. Canada. These tractors are known to be hard starters in cold. Many yrs ago,we were filling silo,2 tractors would not start, 574 & neighbors 724 both with 239 motors. I was interested in video when he said gear reduction. Thanks

Looks like the one on my power stroke. Seems odd to me that it just hangs right out in the weather. No guards or anything over.

Do you know what application this starter is for? Broke the solenoid on mine today trying to put a new cable on. Gear reduction would be a good upgrade while I'm at it.

Good day My 574 should have solenoid or starter replaced. Because I use my alot in winter, they are a harder starter in winter. Someone told me they only have about 15-5 to one compression ratio, & that is why they have smoke when idling? I don't know. What did this starter cost you? & about liking. Thanks

The first one was like a 100 bucks on eBay. Then I picked up a gear reduction starter for it. It spins it a lot faster. Which will help it start faster.

@@GerraldFarms Boy I talk to Mennonite neighbour who fixes starters & he said about $450.00 cdn. Thanks for now.
