Man, it would be fun to hook up with so many riders from other countries. Many nice looking Wings, I like the one that was an LED Xmas tree on wheels. I just sold my Harley after going on a 1,500 mile ride to Death Valley and back. I liked the bike a lot and did many upgrades, but it's not a touring bike and I enjoyed other aspects of the ride so much I want to do more touring, but on a bike that is designed to do just that. Myself and fellow rider on the Death Valley ride came to the conclusion afterward the Goldwing would be our best option and he moved faster than I did by selling his Softail two weeks after and bought a mint 2012 Wing with only 3k miles on the ODO. He suffered more than I did riding his stock Softail and now after owning the Goldwing for about a month, he loves it. If I didn't want to take on longer touring, I would have kept my Road King, again, for day trips it was a great bike even though it sprung a leak in the primary case for the third time since buying the bike (03 model) seven years ago. The leak started in the middle of nowhere in Death Valley and fortunately is was a slow leak that I had a Harley mechanic check out on the ride back home. He assured me the bike would make it another 600 miles and it did. I can't imagine if I had not done suspension and comfort upgrades to my Road King how I probably would have felt during the ride, but installing Progressive fork inserts, frame stabilizer, Energy Suspension shocks, fork wind deflectors, Chubby handlebars that fit my reach like a glove and Saddleman seat why I faired better than my riding buddy, besides which the Road King is just a better road bike than the Softail to begin with. I'm really looking forward to getting a Goldwing, I've actually been a sport bike rider my whole life, I still own an awesome Ducati 999R, but it's time to turn the page to a new riding chapter.
