Happy first day!! This is the start of my 4th week and honestly I can't lie, it's a lot harder to meet new people. However, the intern team is working really hard to make intern events and things that you can go to in order to "meet" new people! There are also some intern group chats that you can check out and talk to people there. I'd also recommend messaging people on your broader team (that you don't necessarily work with) and ask if they want to have a coffee chat here and there! I think it's a good way to get to know people even though you can't naturally build those relationships in person.

Yes, the Fidelity internship was a fantastic experience and I felt like I learned a lot from it. I think it's more reputed for financial internships or FinTech internships, whereas Google is more reputable for strictly tech.

Yes of course, I'm glad you liked it! Honestly, I would spend the first session with your mentor just getting to know each other. My best interactions with mentors have started out more casually - asking them about what they do (both work and hobbies) and then talking a bit about yourself is good. My mentor asked me what my goals were and when I didn't know, he helped me to kind of figure them out. When I was doing STEP, one of my concerns was whether or not I wanted to do SWE or APM next - so I talked a lot with my mentor about that, and he connected me to people who could help me decide. I also typically asked questions on good classes to take, good projects to do, and tips for getting a return offer. I also had my mentor give me a mock interview and review my resume, so those can be good too! Keep in mind that your mentor isn't just there for technical advice though - she can help you figure out a solution if you feel like something is off on your team, or she can even tell you a bit about different office locations / fun things to do around them! I also feel like mentors tend to be great at giving advice for fun non-work things to do at Google, like any of the employee groups or special events Google has :) Hope this helps!

Yes!! My internship this summer is virtual :) any other summer though I'm not sure
