I love how demanding all the comments are. "Bring back Carlos D", "The mastering sucks.", "I want darker." "I want brighter", as if the band actually OWES you all something. They don't. You can take the new stuff or leave it, but why slag on it just because it's not what you hoped it would be? It's sad to see fans being put into position to defend their appreciation for an album, or to defend their lack of enjoyment of the same. It's music, it's subjective. If we all liked it the same way we could just listen to top 40. Anyways, here's to the 8th, I know that I'll be buying.

....Oh come on. Carlos wasn't the only one who did something in Interpol. He didn't 'make' the songs. They all had a part in making the music. He CHOSE to leave. This is still Interpol. This is what the chose to write, practice, make and release for us. Deal with it and enjoy what there three fine gentlemen WANT to show us. Sorry to rant (which I don't usually do), but it's annoying that the dislikes for this song are because of Carlos' absence. You have your reasons for not liking to song. But don't dismiss the other members that still make awesome music for us for one who didn't care.

The first time I heard this song it didn't seem bad to me, neither good enough, but I know Interpol enough to say their songs are not worth only for its first impressions. Once you listen them over and over again, you discover the breathtaking charm of their music.

@KevFL2610 жыл бұрын
People are def entitled to their opinions but complaining about reverb seems to be a stretch since theyve been heavy users of it since TOTBL. That being said in regards to this song itself you have to remember Interpol are an ALBUM band so in the context of the ALBUM this song will probably fit into the tone of El Pintor when listening to the albums sequencing. I dont think theyre pitching this as a single or anything just like a ton of their songs are also not meant to be singles. Not Even Jail is my personal favorite but it definitely makes more sense when listening to Antics beginning to end. More than most bands i can think of, i feel like ppl try very hard to nitpick Interpol to death when they are one of the most consistently great bands out there. They have nothing to prove and I never look for their music to be "better" than things theyve released before but rather I just look for it to be consistent and here they prove they still know what theyre doin...

When I heard El Pintor for the first time I mist say this was my least favourite. But it has grown on me, I've learned that all Interpol tracks are like good wine, hard to take in at first but when they grown on you they get better with time
@PlayinWithGhosts7 жыл бұрын
This is actually one of my favorite tracks on the entire album. They nailed the background swirls and the drumming is fucking on point imho.
@malcolmk28787 жыл бұрын
What happened to the Red Hot Chili Peppers when they lost John Frusciante is what happened to Interpol when they lost Carlos Dengler. Both are still good bands. But they lost that divine greatness and chemistry and dynamic they had when the band was... the band. I personally feel that when you lose such an essential member, you either call it quits or you change your name to something else. They are no longer RHCP without John, they are no longer Interpol without Carlos. That doesn't mean they aren't capable of still writing really good music, as is the case with El Pintor. Just my opinion...

So fucking TRUE man. The song is just perfect, some people need to stop seeking a reason to hate.
@aviewtokill0810 жыл бұрын
LeRoiDechu no one's "looking for a reason to hate." If you read the comments you should be able to tell these are genuine Interpol fans. And I, too, agree. This sounds a bit messy. I love Interpol because I used to be able to just submerge myself into their sound. A break fro. The chaos of life. This is just adding to the mess. I can't knock them for trying something different. And I personally have loved all the four others for different reasons. But I think it's unrealistic to expect another Antics album. It just isn't going to happen. I hope everyone buys this album and let's it grow on the like all the others.

I love this song its my favorite of the album right next to All the Rage Back Home but I am really bummed I cant find a single live version of it. I guess its going to go down as one of those songs Interpol refuse to play live like another underrated fave of mine by them "Who Do You Think?"
@robertgreally8 жыл бұрын
+James Fox they played Who Do You Think like once... I think the reason this song hasn't been played live is that they don't think it will sound good live due to the reverb
@michaelg25028 жыл бұрын
+robertgreally Blasphemy, TOTBL had 10x as much reverb! Overall this song is over compressed but My Bloody Valentine made a fortune blasting a similar sound out live
