Interslavic is a pan-Slavic auxiliary language. Its purpose is to facilitate communication between speakers of various Slavic languages, as well as to allow people who do not speak a Slavic language to communicate with Slavic speakers by being mutually intelligible with most, if not all, Slavic languages. For Slavs and non-Slavs, it can fulfill an educational role as well.

My native language is Russian, my father is Ukrainian, I understand Ukrainian language. I live in Czech republic. I speak Czech and understand Slovak language and some Polish. I understand 100% this video.😊

Hello everyone, As you know, the recording of these voices are from me, this is 100% my voice. Yeah, I do admit, my pronunciation is quite rubbish tbh. So I do have a little story, I am a Pole-Belarusian born in Poland, 3 years later after birth, me and my parents migrated to the UK (where I still live) and because of shift in language, my English was and still is better than my Polish however I am still maintaining the enthusiasm of learning languages, traditions and culture particularly in Slavic languages and culture.

@@tribaounidadedonstania it depends which Slavic country you are from If you’re from the Catholic Slavic countries in the west, we write Latin, but if it's from the orthodox Slavic countries in the east, Cyrillic However in Bosnia, Serbia and (possibly) Belarus the writing systems can be both Cyrillic and Latin Does that answer your question?

Of course it shouldn’t! This “language” is a sloppy assembly of various words into an incoherent mass. Constructed languages DON’T work! No one speaks Esperanto, most people speak at least one second language, but a real language.

I don't want to learn this artifical nonsense, I don't understand half of it, so it's pointless, it's better just to switch to English. Everyone born after 1985 already had English in school, so after some time, most of people should speak at least some English, so why learning some interslavic? It's wasting of time.

As a native Polish speaker it sounds like a unique Polish dialect with heavy South Slavic influence. I could understand 90% of this language easily. TY 😊

Również jestem z Polski. Gdy wymieniali poszczególne słowa, to w większości przypadków brzmiały jak Polski ze specyficznym akcentem, przypomniało mi to jak Ukraińcy mówią po polsku i łatwo mogłem zgadnąć znaczenie danych słów. Lecz, gdy nastąpił etap pełnych zdań, nic a nic nie zrozumiałem, może poszczególne słowa, lecz nie mogłem je połączyć w całość i zrozumieć kontekst danego zdania. Oczywiście nie oczekuje, że będzie to 100% jak Polski, bo to jest inny język, który miałby być językiem, który by ułatwił komunikację między nami i byłby łatwy do nauki. I'm from Poland as well. While they were pronouncing single words, in the most cases, it sounded like Polish language with a distinguished kind of accent for me, It reminded me of Ukrainians speaking in Polish and I could easily catch the definition of these words. However, as they started with full sentences, I couldn't understand anything, barely I caught some words which I was more familiar with, still I couldn't attach them to the rest of words in sentences and this made me impossible to understand the whole sentences. Obviously, I don't expect It'll be like Polish in 100%, because It's a different language, which is about to make us easy to understand each other and make us easy to learn it.

stosunkowo łatwo zrozumieć pojedyncze słowa, bo większość albo jest bardzo podobne do polskich odpowiedników (w końcu to słowiański) albo też były używane dawniej w polszczyźnie bądź naszych regionalnych dialektach . Np. ukrasić, czyli upięknić, ozdobić. Albo "koźa" czyli skóra a nie zwierzęcie rogate ;) stąd też nazwa "kozik", czyli mały nożyk, kiedyś używany do skórowania upolowanego zwierzęcia. Że nie wspomnę o licu, czyli policzku (gładolica kobieta...;). Oczywiście młode osoby w większości nie znają już niestety tych starych określeń. Poza tym jednak ten język jest jednak niemal jak rosyjski w bałkańskim wydaniu, w końcu w większości oparto go na starocerkiewnosłowiańskim. Osoby z terenów wschodniosłowiańskich zrozumieją go raczej w całości. Nam już tak łatwo nie pójdzie. Gdy wymawiane są pojedyncze słowa i powoli to spokojnie z 80% pojmiemy. Jednak zwykłą rozmowę już trudniej.

@@kromek_jga Dziękuję za ten komentarz. Dowiedziałem się wiele ciekawych rzeczy. Jakiś czas temu napotkałem blog, w którym autor opowiadał o różnych dialektach języka polskiego, co pamiętam ze szkoły, to uczyli o nich, lecz zazwyczaj było to traktowane jak zwykła ciekawostka. Mieszkam na zachodzie Polski, czyli według autora mój język polski wchodzi w skład "nowe dialekty mieszane". Co kojarzę, że osoby, które mówią w innych dialektach, mogą być bardziej zaznajomione ze staropolskim. Również wspomnę o jednej rzeczy, rozmawiałem z Ukraińcami po polsku i największy problem sprawiał mi ich akcent, nasz akcent jest bardzo prosty, co kojarzę, że w języku rosyjskim akcent jest bardzo ważny i kluczowy, aby zrozumieli nas osoby, których język rosyjski jest ojczystym.

@@mersin1179 Dziś najczystszym językiem polskim może się pochwalić właśnie zachód Polski. Jest to niemalże idealnie język literacki. Jednak szkoda, że w wyniku zawirowań związanych z IIWŚ dziś nie ma już praktycznie gwar i dialektów naszego języka poza podhalańskim i śląskim, który to jednak niektórzy językoznawcy uważają za osobny język (ale co ciekawe pochodzący ze Śląska prof.Miodek nie zgadza się z tym i uważa go za dialekt polskiego). Osobiście znam dość dużo słów powiedzmy "staroświeckich", moja babcia była jeszcze "przedwojenna" i dzięki niej przyswoiłem wiele z nich ;) A co do "koży" czyli skóry, to przypomniał mi się jeszcze przecież nadal obecnie używany wyraz "kożuch".

I know Russian and Czech and this would take me about 2 weeks to learn. It is heavily weighted to western and southern Slavic sources.

I think its because even though russian has the most speakers, it kinda differs the most from other slavic languages. for russian you can only say that ukrainian and belarusian are similar, but for other slavic languages there are more languages that are similar to them

@@user-co1gi7yd2r Not really. The division into south, west and east slavic languages are mostly based on grammar and ethymology. And therefore many non russian speakers believe that Russian, Belarussian and Ukrainian are very mutually intelligeble. In fact only Ukrainian and Belarussian share a high degree of mutual intellgibility, whereas Russian in lexical similarities is closer to Bulgarian. A Russian speaking person with no other slavic language can easily read Bulgarian and get the most of it but not Ukrainian. If he on the other hand would study the languages, then perhaps Ukrainian would be easier due to the shared south-slavic grammar and many shared expressions and constructions which would be much harder in Bulgarian.

I may be wrong, but I think that Russian differs from other Slavic languages because for the last few centuries Russia was a great power, when globalization was taking place in the World, starting with ships that had better sails, thus moving faster and further, and up until the invention of internet. For that time Russia was taking loanwords from other languages, primarily English and French.

I’m fluent in Russian and Ukrainian. To me, this sounds like a mix of Old Russian with some Polish/Southern Slavic words thrown in. I understood 100%. From what I’ve previously read, this never took off because western Slavs said it sounded too much like old Russian.

I speak Polish and aside pronouncing vowels it has little to do with Polish. I have hard time understanding some things because they sound very Czech.

It seems quite strange that you use Lithuanian letter “ų” instead of “ǫ”(used in OCS & Proto-Slavic transcription) or “ą”(used in Polish language). Ⱘ/Ѫ was actually nasal “o” sound, despite of it became non-nasal “u” in some modern Slavic languages.

@@user-zw7sq5kf1sit's official ortography Bacause, as you said, this sound is now mostly pronounced u so the letter looks like u. This is actually one of 2 official ortographies for interslavic called the scientific one and it's created in such way that if someone can't read it they can just ignore the diacritics (in this case the ogonek). For example in default ortography "thank you" is spelled "dekujem" and in the scientific one it's "dękujem"

As someone who is fluent in both russian and polish, I can understand almost everything clearly! I think Interslavic is a great idea for all of us and we should definitely spread it, so communication would be even easier. Maybe someday we could even have it as a subject in schools.

To me as a Russian 🇷🇺 it sounds absolutely pleasant, natural and harmonious. I can understand almost everything. Even if the words aren’t completely the same I can quickly grasp the concept of them and get the meaning. For example: In Russian we have the word “pol” as “floor” but the Interslavic word “podloga” also exists in Russian as “podlozhka” literally meaning underlay, mat. In Russian we have the word “vinograd” as grapes but the Interslavic word for grapes “grozdja” also exists in Russian and it’s also connected to grapes and other berries, it means “clusters”, “bunches”.

@@xoutsideraspakavinatigo2650 We can all understand each other anyway if every Slav uses old words and removes borrowings from the language. I can give an example from my own: In Russian, "eye" is written and read as "glaz" or in the plural "glaza", for conditional Poles we will say the word "stone"/"głaz", but this is not the only word for "eye", we have an outdated word "oko" (in plural "ochi") and then "Slavic language magic" happens, it immediately became clear what we were talking about. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

@@rus.imperialist3502 Oko is not outdated, it is from Latin oculus, simply a different origin. Every language has taken something from Greek and Latin. Even something as Russian sounding as Dimitri comes from Demeter, Greek Goddess of the harvest

no it doesnt, well, polish and russian have 38% same vocabulary....There is a video on yt were slavic language speakers try to understand interslavic and poles and russians understand it at the same level, the worst results got south slavs especially bulgarians

So, we have Interlingua for Romance languages and Interslavic for Slavic languages. Is there anything similar for Germanic languages?

It's unfortunately a very common mistake, but Interlingua is actually not a Pan-Romance language in the same way Interslavic is clearly Pan-Slavic. While Interlingua superficially appear Romance because the majority of its vocabulary is Romance and Latin (meaning, Classical Latin words), Interlingua is actually more comparable to Esperanto because Interlingua was designed as an auxiliary language for speakers of *European languages in general* , not only speakers of Romance languages. English is one of the primary control languages and is a strong reason why Interlingua has a simplified grammar compared to Romance languages. German and Russian are secondary control languages that had a lesser effect on the selection of vocabulary. If a grammatical trait was absent in even one of the primary control languages, then it was excluded. Interlingua's lack of key Romance features (noun & adjective agreement, differentiation between imperfect past and preterite past, and the subjunctive) among other smaller features make it so that Interlingua cannot meaningfully be considered properly Pan-Romance just because it has many Romance words. That would be kind of like calling Esperanto Pan-Romance because it has some Romance and Classical Latin derived words, but in the end, the grammar of Interlingua and its goal and methodology is actually quite different from Interslavic. The good news is that there already is an "official" Romance language counterpart to Interslavic and it's called "Romance Neolatino" (or just "Neolatin"). Neolatin is a zonal auxiliary language based *only* on modern Romance languages (both larger and smaller ones), and no other language, so no English. Therefore, the grammar and traits of Neolatin in general are much closer to modern Romance languages the point where it is theoretically far less adjustment to speak it for a Romance language speaker. To illustrate the connection between Neolatin and Interslavic, Jan van Steenbergen of the Interslavic project even attended the first Neolatin Congress. As for Pan-Germanic languages, I honestly think they're not that popular from what I've seen. The problem is these Pan-Germanic language projects are very scattered and their communities are exceedingly small or nonexistent altogether. Case in point: Folkspraak exists but also has at least 3 different derivatives (Middelsprake, Sprak, and Frenkisch). I honestly think speakers of Germanic languages just aren't really interested in such a concept enough like Slavic speakers are interested in Interslavic because many speakers of Germanic languages already speak their own version of English well if they want to communicate. There are other zonal auxiliary language projects as well. Here are some ones I've heard of (some I already mentioned): 1. Interslavic (for Slavic languages, by far the most popular zonal auxiliary language) 2. Romance Neolatino (for Romance languages and the parallel project to Interslavic) 3. Tugwá (for Tupi-Guarani languages of South America) 4. Samboka (for Uralic languages) 5. various Pan-Germanic projects, such as Folkspraak and its derivatives (Middelsprake, Sprak, and Frenkisch); very fragmented and inactive compared to other comparable projects. There are other projects I've heard of that, as far as I gather (which is extremely little because it's only hearsay), are artistic languages, such as this supposed "Semitish" (a Semitic conlang) and Skundavisk (an artistic Germanic conlang). There's also a project called "Ortaq Türük Tili", which is supposedly an "Inter-Turkic" language, but I've found very little information on it. Wtf? It is a historical symbol for Slavs. They got nothing to do with N@zism. It is their and our culture. Slavic people and native faiths have been using kolovrat and other Slavic symbols for lots of long centuries, while the N@zis only came to power in 1933.

I would also like you to make more videos of auxlangs such as Esperantidos (languages derived from Esperanto) other zonal auxlangs (inter-Roman, inter-German, African), European or western auxlangs (gloss, western interlingual, interlingua, novial, Intal...), mixed languages, jargons, slangs and other creoles and pidgins.

As a native Serbian speaker who speaks Russian as well, I see that the creator of this language used our letters "љ" and "њ", which can only be found in Serbian written like that. I read a lot about Pan-Slavism, it is a great idea and I fully support it. An interesting fact: Slavic languages are the most closely related of all European language families. They were separated after the migration of Slavs from their ancestral land, while Romance and Germanic languages got separated much earlier and are now less mutually intelligible than Slavic languages. Therefore this project is possible to realize in the near future, if only all our governments would be willing to support it.

My kako govoritelji tutogo jezyka praktično vsaky vikend dělajemo ms subotu, kde možno govoriti na medžuslovjanskom i učiti govoriti novakov. Sometimes I wish English was closer other Germanic languages that something like this would be feasible. I know there are some inter-Germanic projects, but they're not really intelligible coming from English.

English is kind of weird because it's clearly different from other Germanic languages, but yet it turned out to be of the most widely spoken languages on the planet. I think that besides the general fragmentation and lack of unity of these Pan-Germanic language projects that I think in spite of the differences of English, it seems that speakers of other Germanic languages don't mind that much just speaking whatever version of English is convenient to communicate. I'm basically just saying I don't think speakers of Germanic languages are speakers of Slavic languages are interested in Interslavic or Romance speakers being interested in Romance Neolatino (Neolatin). English is just too far gone to be mutually intelligible and highly retaining its "germanicness".

Is there nasal vowels in the interslavic? I often use this due to the slavic language I learn every day and often use. Most of word is close to my slavic language but some words "sorry", "bathroom" and "garden" are different. The "garden" in Interslavic is "orchard" in my slavic language.

On a second thought the Bulgarians exclusively will have to put extra effort to gain a good command as our language is analytic while Interslavic retains the original grammar cases.

I agree. I don’t find it any more useful than learning Serbian or Russian (I know Russian). I dont know if Bulgarians who haven’t studied Russian will understand it that well because of the cases and in general because of the pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar of this language, it isnt really helpful for us.

Я русский. Процентов 60 я понимаю. Но с таким же успехом я понимаю сербский, славенский, Боснийский. Конечно удобно понимать там, где традиционно используется кириллица. А вот сербски черногорский я понимаю пожалуй процентов на 80. Он более близок.

Here's a list of zonal auxiliary languages: 1. Interslavic (for Slavic languages, by far the most popular zonal auxiliary language) 2. Romance Neolatino, or just Neolatin" (for Romance languages and the parallel project to Interslavic) 3. Tugwá (for Tupi-Guarani languages of South America) 4. Samboka 5. various Pan-Germanic projects, such as Folkspraak and its derivatives (Middelsprake, Sprak, and Frenkisch); very fragmented and inactive compared to other comparable projects. There are other projects I've heard of that, as far as I gather (which is extremely little because it's only hearsay), are artistic languages, such as this supposed "Semitish" (a Semitic conlang) and Skundavisk (an artistic Germanic conlang). There's also a project called "Ortaq Türük Tili", which is supposedly an "Inter-Turkic" language, but I've found very little information on it. Manmin'o (East Asia auxiliary language) and Afrihili almost have very little information.

2:48 As a Portuguese speaker, I'm surprised that "bye" I'm interslavic is the same pronounce as the word "Tchau" these languages have some influences from latim (the language who made Portuguese) soo i see that it's easier to learn (i took much less time to learn half of the Russian alphabet, because i use references)

Portugese is a romance language, but Latin influenced every European language. There is like 15-20% words of Latin origin in every Slavic language.

@@blinski1 People of the Russian area had little direct connection to the Latin language until Peter the Great's time, when the advancements of the West were noticed. It wasn't necessarily known even to Westerners that Latin would slowly stop being used as the common language.

Ciao isn't from Latin directly, it's from Venetian. Like people used to salute by saying "I am your humble servant" in English, in Venetian they eventually shortened it to "slave!" (sclavo > schiavo > s'ciavo > s'ciao > ciao)

The only Slavic language that has “tchau/ciao” is Bulgarian, where it is a loan word from Italian, since Italy had a cultural influence in Bulgaria since the medieval period. There are other Italian loans in Bulgarian.

Ciao actually was a greeting meaning "I am your slave"(or at your service) The Venetian word for "slave", s-ciào or s-ciàvo, derives from Medieval Latin sclavus, a loanword from Medieval Greek Σκλάβος, related to the ethnic "Slavic", since most of the slaves came from the Balkans.

I am Polish Belarusian and I was the one who made the narration, my accent has some mostly of Polish influence. I even speak Belarusian with a Polish accent.
