Henkka and Janne from Children Of Bodom talked to us on their "20 Years Down & Dirty" tour in Munich. We were given the latest information about a new album, upcoming festivals in Europe and Germany as well as the band member change concerning their guitarist. And we're not talking about Peter here (Who is that guy by the way?).

The perspective in the framing of their sound is incredible. Whereas Janne thinks Hate Crew Deathroll solidified their modern sound and everything piggy backed off that, I see something totally different. I would argue that their modern, thrash, riff based sound is anchored with Are You Dead Yet. Hate Crew Deathroll did streamline the band's sound up to that point and it was great, but that is not the band we have today. They have mostly lost that melodic edge, that neo-claisscal influence. That said, while lots of fans seem to dislike Are You Dead Yet, I like it alot. To me it still fits what the Bodom sound or timbre was, even while trying something new. The atonal, riff based transition is framed within the sound as opposed to taking over everything that sound was like it did on every album after, where everything sounds remarkably indiscernible from track to track.

I guess I'm quite lucky because I like the new Bodom and I like the old Bodom. Although my favorite albums are Hatebreeder and Follow The Reaper, I have to say that I Worship Chaos was insanely good. It's funny that all of the albums I mentioned were recorded without Roope.
