大谷の昨年の1本目は4月3日あたりからでした。で8月末までに投手やりながら44本打ちました。1ヶ月平均8本から9本です。1試合2本なんて日もありました。今年はベッツが凄すぎるだけです😅

I think Mookie's affecting Otani a bit because Otani isn't used to someone constantly on base before him. Lol. Swinging bit too hard in my opionion.

@@matrix-fh9tnI agree I feel like he’s trying too hard to match mookies hrs lol but it usually takes. Ohtani a few weeks to get going. But once he does there will be weeks he hits 7 hrs

Hitting is as much mental as physical. Not having Ippei as his assistant on daily basis and having a new wife at home, both are big changes in his life. I think he has to change his daily routine quite a bit. Because Shohei is very focused on baseball, he eats, sleeps and plays baseball. That's all he did before getting married. Any change in his daily routine possibly affected his game a little. Also, having two great hitters in front and back of him playing much better than he does. He is probably pressing too much at the plate and not getting the kind of results that he expected. If he is able to pitch again at the mound, it will certainly take his mind off hitting. And he would be to just use his natural hitting ability and not pressing too much and get better results. He is one of the best power hitters in the game.

He has been fine-tuning his right arm since returning from surgery. It's different from the spring camp where there are a lot of minor players. I think it'll take about a month

I feel Ippei translates like dubbing words in anorther language, new translater is like subtitles.

@@manseitaroI think Ippai-san used more friendly and approachable language, whereas Ohtani's responses in Japanese feel very concise and lack humor, which doesn't come across as friendly to me as a Japanese person. In that sense, perhaps Aiaton-san might be more accurate. I believe Ippai-san translated to make it more approachable.

Ippei is not supposed to change Ohtanis comments to be more “approachable”- that is not the purpose of a translator. Ohtani is always to the point. For example he states why he likes/dislikes xyz and gives a reason for that. Ippei always changes it to something like “Ohtani feels indifferent” - that’s it. Ippei always picks and chooses what he translates which is very bad. I feel the new guy is not as fluent in Japanese but is trying his best to translate everything Ohtani is saying.

This is a criticism that many fans have shared for awhile. You may think why are ppl speaking up about it more now.. and that’s cause they are just talking about baseball.. Ohtani isn’t a politician or teacher etc. we just let it go cause it’s not anything super important that they are talking about. But previously there were so many red flags in his translation.

Although not reflected in his expression, when spoken in Japanese, he seems lacking in energy, tired, and quite frustrated. The reason for his fatigue is evident, but the fact that he hasn't been able to produce consistent results in the matches suggests that if he's entrusted with the "DH" role, he needs to put in more effort. I don't find him appealing in his current state.

We've just started this new season which is quite long one compared to other sports. He knows how to handle his own conditions more than his best results so it is a bit earlier to say that he needs more effort to stand out in his position.

In this particular game, players other than Ohtani on the Dodgers performed well defensively and offensively, which naturally highlights Ohtani's less favorable performance. His role right now is not as a pitcher or outfielder but as a designated hitter (DH). If we were to use a poker analogy, he needs to be an "A" card, not a 2, 3, 4, or 5, but a strong "A" card contributing significantly to the Dodgers. However, the current "A" card for the team is Mookie Betts. It's not that I dislike Ohtani; it's frustrating. He's not a player who deserves criticism.
