funny how eddie said he wished he wouldve been born earlier so he could be apart of bands in the 60s and 70s, cause i wish i was born earlier so i could see bands like pearl jam in the 90s

The 90's were so much fun! I was a freshmen in High School when Grunge broke through and I remember that I couldn't believe so many great bands could come out of the same city, being Seattle... It was a MAGICAL TIME... In my high school years, Pearl Jam was the biggest band in Rock N Roll and they couldn't have cared less about popularity.. My favorite band to this day!

It's funny how Eddie says that "I wish I was born earlier" which is exactly how I feel, but I feel that way about the time when Eddie was growing up! I wish I was this age (20) now, back in the 80's/90's.

Eddie it was incredible to see Jimmy Hendrix, the Doors, Cream, The Who, David Bowie back in the day but we just thought it was normal to listen to musicians like this. The Who were unique because of the rock opera "Tommy" and during the shows they would smash up their guitars and equipment. When it came to Jim Morrison he had the whole venue under a spell. We all lit up matches and candles which freaked out security big time. The stage sets were primitive but lights, dry ice, and smoke enhanced JM's obsession with funeral pyres.Musically it was the best because of the haunting and macabre nature but sad too because we could feel that he was going to end his life at any time. With Jimmy it was happy, electrifying and exhilerating to see because he could use his tongue to play guitar. He was as sexy as Prince in his own right. He played for the"ladies" and took over other frontmen in a blink of an eye. Having the theme song "Are You Experienced?" was a hidden way he endorsed the hippie love movement. It was always in the moment and once you had heard him play live you were hooked for life.

I think that Eddie is such a down-to-earth guy! I am so glad that he outgrew his early-to-mid 90's attitude. Granted, he's 45 years old now and of course he would have outgrown it to some extent anyway, but he has become such a damn likeable person!:-)

I like what Ed says @ the end, about how its not about the band, but about the music. To many musicians get an inflated ego of self just because they play in a "band" and some fans dig they're songs...I see it sometimes just on a local level where I live. Just this whole exclusive, hipster vibe, and who knows who, and that shit...

What a good point he makes at the end. If you can't have freedom in something that is so dreamy of a position to be in than what is the point? Is that why we don't see as many Pearl Jam vids from about 95 to '03? There's a huge hole in the documentation of the band's life as reflected on this site during that time period. Lots from the begging and from the latter part of the '00's.

I am guessing there are plenty of Pearl Jam fans tuning in to this. I ask one thing of you guys. Please do not encourage the Greek guy Demetrios who pops up on anything PJ related. He is a stalker. His obsession with the band has gotten to a very unhealthy point. He reduced himself to posting pictures of Eddie Vedder's children online which had previously not been published in teh public domain! Please do not encourage him because he is the one fan I believe would try to kill Eddie so again, please do not encourage him. The guy is dangerous.

@ThatLankyAfrican you said it man. i think the industry has lost its spark over the last 15 years. but i can envision a new underground revolution of bands who havent lost sight of the real picture and dont care about what the labels stand for ( conformity, image, and lack of adventure ) i think the real artists will realize they dont need the labels and digital filters, just their perseverance and ability to create, explore and play it raw. then the internet can be their big marketing tool.

There is always one fucking idiot who posts this comment. The band has moved one. DA is not coming back and thank fuck for that because whilst he was a great drummer he is an absolute tool of a person. There is a good reason why he was fucked out of the band.

@@johnjoe6291 exactly, every video on KZfaq won't shut up about Dave A. He was an asshole, the band didn't like him, he wasn't playing drums the way they wanted either, he disagreed with the ticket master boycott. He was running around being an asshole. They moved on but these comments just won't stop. Get over it people it was 25 years ago!
