I mean yes. Although there would be no Cobra Kai if they did. There would be no seeking for Daniel. Daniel character is always looking for a sign just like Miyagi, but it was the people, which put them back on the right path. Kumiko character holds levels to it. She represents the innocence that the collective we all lost when we get older. The magic within their chemistry revisits that notion of purity between them. Which clearly him and his wife don't have. Not to say they don't have something but it seems very standard relationship and very americana. Not that there is nothing wrong with it. Kumiko lived her dreams, and seems happy after all these years. Daniel as we know found his dreams but was brought into turmoil and lost again. It's only through Kumiko he goes back complete again. I think the writers are indirectly slowly planting those seeds again and threading that fine needle. Another thing that was important to Pat and Tam and Nobu was representation in acting. I think that is also a huge part of what made, Karate Kid. It was ahead of its time. There wasnt many roles for asian actors in the 90's. I think Cobra Kai would give itself a disservice if it ignored the very essence of that made Karate Kid was representation and innocence. Two powerful themes. Hell, even Rocky and Ralph were Italian kids growing up in rough backgrounds. They represent a lot of kids in similar backgrounds. There is a lot of clever indirect references like the breaking of the ice at the bar references Karate kid 2, but also them, literally BREAKING THE ICE again. There is some great writing going on, but they are taking their time to get there. It's not just about closure for Daniel as it is for all the characters now in the show.

YES! They should've ended up together! Even both Tamlyn and Ralph say they have great chemistry together! Ralph also clearly didn't like that the Kumiko/Yukie relationships were dropped in kk3 w/c is what I always think about. I wish they had half Okinawan kids instead!

I think it's gonna end that way. He always had the strongest connection to her. He can still have his kids and amicable relationship with his ex wife. I think it's more true to form how life sorta ends up.

@@pahgm6222 Honestly, I think they will go back there for sure. Be great if he saved her life again too. Honestly, these guy's really understand the essence of KK and even this interview you can see how his responses are that is where he and the writers sorta would like to go. Even stating that it won't be the last time we see these characters. I think though reading that article about flipping certain meanings like he letters in the original were both horrible things for mr miyagi, here the notion has change almost making things more clear to Daniel what he has been searching for since inception. He's been lost since Miyagi died really, looking for signs, but it's the people that bring us back. Also they never really show a goodbye for kumiko and Dan, just magically fixes his Business and he's home with souvenirsBusiness and he's home with souvenirs. Such a western thing to do. There is more to Okinawa than the gold the let go to grab. What He is seeking has always been waiting for him. Same with Miyagi. Not to mention the Yukie's character played by Nobu, worked along side Tamlyn for many years outside of KK films and sadly she did pass away working on a film with Tamlynn. Which I can imagine was a tragedy. These characters were these actors first introductions into acting. I think it really again treads that needle that these actors meant the world to them outside the film or in someway were a huge part of them and their characters.

I don’t think he is over it. I think he is embracing it pretty well. And I agree with you, having an actual movie if the Wax On Fuck Off comedy would be amazing. But that’s more directed as to why he didn’t have a stable successful career (because he was always the nicest guy with the perfect family life), than blaming on TKK for not having that career.
