Kept from the public eye as much as he could. Never bought into the fame game. Made some of the best music ever produced. So underrated.
@pauljamesarmitage52372 жыл бұрын
Have you ever noticed that all the most talented singers and musicians usually try to avoid being in the public eye? It’s all part of the act for The artists that crave being a celebrity and gag for publicity, they use their fame to take people’s attention away from their lack of talent. Fans want to see their concerts and buy their music because they are drawn in by the artists celebrity status and image and the fans don’t care if their concerts and their live singing is crap or if their latest song is garbage because the fans think that as the celebrity is so famous they can do whatever they want because of who they are. All the worlds best singers/musicians are usually shy and tend to shun the fame and don’t do many interviews or anything like that. Prime example....Kanye west. Absolutely crap at rapping etc but he’s built up such a massive celebrity status that his fans think he can not do anything wrong. Most modern artists are exactly like him and hide their lack of talent behind their false celebrity persona.

Such a well formulated comment but completely screwed by the last sentence. 😮💨 Either you feel the spirit in their music or you don't, wich makes you a poor bastard, simple as that. Yes the music compilation is expertly laid out. It is all basically computer generated and sequenced by sequencers. To those who say he is both underrated and under appreciated, Mr Hollis is only underrated by those who don’t appreciate both the history and progression of modern music. A multitude of Mr Hollis’s contemporary artists, as well as those who came after him, not only quote him as an inspiration but also the albums of Talk Talk as seminal recordings. Talk Talk and Mark are yet another example of just because the later album received less (no) radio time and didn’t chart highly, doesn’t mean they were ignored by genuine music lovers and critics alike. All the albums stand the test of time and Mark’s voice transcends generations and fills first time listeners with as much joy, sadness and celebration as those of us who grew up with him. RIP MH and thank you for your contribution to the music landscape and those you influenced.

I remember that "The Chart Show' on UK TV (ITV or Channel 4) on Saturdays etc that was repeated later on that same night that played music videos and then at the end they had that pop up window made on a commodore Amiga which had text info on the artists and video, this was circa 1988/89. And they played the It's My Life and Life's What You Make It videos several times and again when the singles were re-issued. So people in the 80s knew who they were and they got exposure for sure.

RIP MARK ❤️

One of the few new bands on the scene back then who could actually cut it live. Well obviously they could or they wouldn't be playing with Genesis. A musical genius. RIP!
@pilaryanez5789 Жыл бұрын
I think he was a very special person, the way he composed, the tone of his voice transported to other states, he sang with his eyes closed and felt every word, he was shy but with a great inner world that emerged through his compositions, He was self-taught but he surpassed himself over and over again, he never stopped experimenting and evolving, he never wanted to repeat a winning formula, he wanted to sing but he didn't want fame, he hated being the focus of attention and many unpleasant things that still happen today in the music industry, which ended up making him decide to retire. He wanted to make timeless music that would last over time and he more than succeeded, he was humble, he had his feet on the ground and had great sensitivity. In his short career he managed to evolve musically and personally much more than others will not achieve in a lifetime. I think that he was never really aware of everything he did and also of the great influence that he has been for many other current bands. He was not valued in his time, but today I think he enjoys the recognition he deserves, both from many of his musical peers, as well as from people who value his creativity, sensitivity and talent, as well as from new young generations who have known him in the present. He is no longer with us but fortunately, his music, his talent, his charm and these images are still here forever. Personally, his music and his voice accompany me permanently and his life is an example, although as every person had lights and shadows, I rescue, never stop being yourself, find your own path, evolve in whatever you do, have your clear priorities, be a good person, do what you love and enjoy your art for yourself.

I haveta say. This was the first time I heard Mark speak about music! He was very persisted and articulate about his music, what a brilliant song writer he was..... You will be missed!

TalkTalk song it's My Life was THE heart and soul of the '80s. If you have the time look at some of the live videos of this song, he sings it perfectly every time, a true perfectionist. Using studio musicians in addition to the original three, gives it that huge depth of sound. This was a one of the kind band, many have tried to copy, but none have duplicated.
