I know coach Charles from the 90's, he was our teams head coach, he took us to Biloxi to win the Gulf states championships, we had a great team with lots of memories. I also had the pleasure to take my son with him, and trained with him. We are from Houston, so I drove to Austin to get a workout and do that regularly.

Ezzard Charles died at 53 in 1975 from Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS-amnyotrophic lateral sclerosis, if I spelled it right). His record was 95wins, 15losses, & 1draw. This video is apparently bullshit. I met him (wheel chair bound) in Jan.1974. I say this is some phony post being shown.

There are so many historical inconsistencies in this video. Marciano beat Joe Walcott for the title not Charles, he did defend his title against Charles though twice. He fought Charles in 1954 I think not the 60s, Marciano retired in 1956 and Charles and Charles retired in either 1958 or 59. Neither of them fought in the 1960s

Ok, I see this is a "new" Ezzard Charles,not the real one. This guy says he fought at lightweight or Jr welterweight. The REAL Ezzard Charles fought at light heavy& heavyweight.... This guy isn't the one the world knows.

His full ring name is Ezzard Charles Adams and he was no champion, unlike his namesake. boxrec.com/en/boxer/2823 35 total 16W 18L (1 Draw) He did however, fight Frankie Randal and Edwin Rosario, adding some legitimacy to his career as a fighting man; however this was an incredibly dishonest interview. Selling a journeyman as a champion through name association is duplicitous to say the least, I wouldn’t trust these guys to pump gas.
