Helmie Ashiblie founded Alpha One Niner in 2013. He was previously in the military as a commander of a Recon Unit, and his callsign was Alpha One Niner. In 2014 he launched A19's first product on Kickstarter, an iPad caddy. His products continue to (sometimes) be crowdsourced and user feedback is a high value. Adam interviews Helmie about Alpha One Niner, his experience in the industry, and new products he's working on.

Helm’s customer service sets the bar high. Had a problem with my Evade 2.0 and he will take care of you. That’s how you earn lifetime customers.

Helmie was one of the officers mentoring the platoon when I was an officer cadet back in Singapore in '85, IOCC 2/85. I recently got in touch with that batch of cadets & instructors. He was firm but kind, most of all he was inspiring and exemplary , looking out for our welfare and how we would turn out as officers.

Awesome interview, great to hear directly from Helmie! Can't wait to see the Pathfinder come out. I have the Evade 2.0, 1.5 Lite, and Chio, all in diamond ripstop back. Will order a Pathfinder as soon as it comes out. Would be awesome to get a 2.0 Lite as well if such a thing ever materializes :)

wow great interview! so interesting to hear his thoughts. amazed to hear he is an "amatuer" packer. By the way, do you know whats the "CHIO" stands for for the Chio sling?

Thanks! We've got another company owner interview coming soon... I don't know what CHIO stands for, but suspect it might not stand for anything as he's also written it without all caps like Chio.
