Why cant movies and tv use historical armours as inspiration, they look so awsome and they had a real functionality. All the crap armours hollywood show us look like shit compared tho this

Hey guys! So, the reason, Bob wasn't wearing the helmet for a few reasons: the helmet is a big pain to put on. Has to attach the aventail separately and align the cheek pieces correctly (huge pain). Also, Bob wearing hearing aids and can't wear them with the helmet on, so the interview would included a lot of shouting 🤣. Sadly, his knees were giving him some issues that day, so he didn't take part in the deed. Hope this clears some things up and we'll see about making a video covering a more in depth about the helmet in the future. -Reece

Bob has such a nice harness. I saw him fight at Red Knight in 2015 when I was first getting into Harnischfechten and wondered how anyone ever got a hit on him, since he has so few openings. I since got one of Oleg Yanchuk's S18 armets and I can see why some people have issues with them. But holy crap is that helmet tanky. And for a historical visor, the visibility is pretty good.

That helmet is definitely an interesting one. We are lucky to have that fresco. In general it was really interesting to go through all the features of that armour, and their functional use.

Is that the same Bob Charrette who wrote the first Shadowrun Novels? I used to playtest Shadowrun back in the 90s and used to hang out with a lot of the writers of various RPG's and video games back then while copious amounts of coffee. Good times. Back then I had a bbs and we'd use BlueWave email and rack up expensive phone bills. At least the technical writing and editing part paid once in a while. Sadly the gaming industry wasn't good at paying people back in those days! Sometimes we'd actually mail disks back and forth when working on games or playtesting video games on my BBS like LOD or VGA Planets. Good times. Got distracted by the tangent. Beautiful armor and looks extremely functional. I didn't know about the lance rest/arret being such a multiplier of effectiveness! His gauntlet looks great. Be nice to have that kind of flexibility for blossfechten and reminds me of those old comfort fencing gauntlets that broke all the time but looked cool.

Nice. Would be cool to see him on the field in action. I love how you cut in shots of manuels or live training.

*Relevant and Supportive Comment* (I'm curious if you guys have noticed any increase in viewership recently, as I have been sharing you guys in various locations that I lurk in. Sorry if this comes off as me intruding on your business, you don't have to share such information if you do not want to.)

This was another very interesting video and the interview really covered his armour well. I'm looking forward to your video that gives more details about his helmet. I also like hearing how different Knights have learned, like Bob, by comparing their harnesses against the training books of the same time period.

I have similar pauldrons, and I often find that moving my arms across the chest horizontally can make the top of the pauldrons press against the throat. Is there a solution for that? Maybe mounting them differently on the arming doublet would work. It seems like Bob does not have that issue as much, which is good.

Like he had stated in the video, it's a real pain. I'll try to film him next time and maybe have a more in depth discussion on the helmet itself. -Reece

Since you've added chainmail to your kit, do you still wear a black swan arming doublet under it or what are you using for an undergarmet?
@pursuingtheknightlyarts6841
@pursuingtheknightlyarts6841 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, still wear the same arming doublet. Due for a new one, as it's gotten torn since I didn't have mail for so many years. -Reece

@@BoogeMinion, yes. There was an issue with the mail feeling too tight and I thought I would need to invest into another arm harness, but we found out it wasn't in the correct position for the elbow and it fits well now. Glad you've enjoyed the channel 🙂-Reece

The lecture video is coming. I've got it all edited and ready to go. All that is needed is for the rest of the museums to give us permission to use their material and not have it be flagged for copyright infringement. Still waiting for others to respond back, so It's out of my hands at the moment. When we get all the permissions you'll know, as the video will be posted. Thanks for your patience. -Reece

PursuingThe KnightlyArts Hopefully they are intelligent enough to work with you guys, as it would be free advertising for the respective museums. After all, as nice as a good recording can be, it's not quite the same as being there right next to the exhibits.
