An ex bandmate can say something critical about VV if he wants. It wasn't even that bad of a comment. We all need to look in the mirror at times. You guys don't even know what really went on behind closed doors. Maybe VV was being an egotist and he was just done with being controlled by HIM. He explained his heart wasn't in it anymore. Bands grow apart just like marriages and friendships. I know it would be amazing to see them together but they both have great projects going and are happy with that. Listen to the old albums and be content with what they gave us so far. Many lead singers can really grow big heads. And we know its hard for a bunch of male egos to function in a single room.

I will always think HIM as my favorite band and that all the members were masters on their craft. I haven't heard anyone similar to each one of them. I understand why some people might be bothered with what Gas said but I don't think he hates his career with HIM or anything like that. He did praise the band and Ville but it is obvious that through the 20 years they spend together something happened that made them grow apart to the point of no longer talking. Ville on his own has said that he did treat some situations in a way that he regrets and that now he knows he would have done things differently and he too doesn't regret the HIM years. Obviously his sound live will be different with a new band but that doesn't mean that his live shows are not good, quite the opposite they are really good. I do too wish for a reunion 100% and I know that the fanbase would love that and make the tickets disappear faster than we think. But for that to happen, these relationships need to mend. And that will only happen when they decide to. It is sad to think of a lost friendship that went through so many different things together (20 years almost and touring is a lot) but I don't think there is a deep hatred between them as many thing. They are both happy to what they do and that is important. Great interview! Hopefully we will see more HIM member there

As much as I love Ville Valo as an artist I do think we need to remember that he’s capable of making mistakes just like everyone else, even he himself admits as much. I don’t understand why some fans are so overly protective in situations where they don’t even know what happened or what was said. It’s better to remain neutral and let Ville and Gas sort out whatever problems they have on their own rather than speculating and adding more fuel to the fire. Anyways, great interview. I’m glad that Gas is still able to do what he’s passionate about so many years after HIM disbanded.

Gas always awesome. After Venus Doom, I lost track of the band entirely. I was a fan since the 90s, however, I have only had a chance of seeing them live in the farewell tour. Unfortunately, by that time, their prime was gone, the spark had long been gone as well. The music went into a direction that did not resonate with me, at all. Valo's vocals also started to sound more and more strained. Glad to see all of them are doing well these days. Doing their own thing. I do have to say one thing, listening to VV solo album, you can immediately tell, whether you enjoy the music or not, that the band was so much more than Ville... All of the band members had such a major role in making the music sound the way it did.

Ville is a visionary for sure, but on his last album you can notice for sure the professionalism HIM members did to the music. The VV album is the purest example to show some people that HIM wasnt HIM only because of Ville Valo, but because of these other guys too.

So, I have a different take, and it involves the people discussing the interviews on other platforms. It's sad to see that people are ruthless on both ends - Ville's solo project and why HIM disbanded. It's almost like those people cannot accept the fact that certain life events changed them, and the choices they make do not harm anyone, unless it's intentional. There's this unnecessary hyperfixation and hyperanalysis about why Ville is the way he is now, where all the other band members are, and all that other craziness that just gets disgusting at times, because it's more or less breaching those people's personal lives to a point where they start living through them just to discover something hidden. Why do that? There's already enough said out there, why dig for more; plus, those people need to learn that even the biggest bands in the industry out there have scandals, misunderstandings, and disagreements. It's all about compromising, and it's perfectly fine when a band disbands if they cannot compromise entirely. I couldn't be more proud of everyone's choice of path after HIM. It's pretty commendable, especially after they've been doing it for so long before it happened. I want to see them all do their thing and be happy.

Unfortunately, people behind the scene can occupy a very different persona than what they put on in front of a cam. Therefore I'd stay away from judging whether someone is down to earth or ego maniac or greedy or occupies some other negative feature, just based on a tiny sample batch of a few appearances in public here and there. In general, everyone has an undesired side, it just needs the right triggers for it to manifest.

Ville is a toxic narcissist) perhaps like all creative people who are focused on their ego and do not care about the feelings of others. He himself often spoke about this in his interviews. And now after this interview with Gas I can understand it clearly. I suppose that because Ville was idolized by fans, at some point he developed a god complex who can control everything and set only his own rules. I suspect the guys were pressed a lot.

I doubt thats an intentional thing on Gas's part. He might be tired or something. Hes always seemed like an awesome dude. Who knows!

@@LickeyWebster yeah but the nice thing to do is to apologise at least once for that yawning, because people may think you are bored or uninterested… also the chewing of snus… could have been done after the interview..

I wasn’t offended by Gas at all. He uses tobacco and that’s no issue for me. Also for context, I’m in the states and Gas is 8 hours ahead in Finland, so it was late night for him.

He seems a bit bitter? Maybe it’s just charisma he’s lacking. Ville oozes charisma and charm and brooding sexuality. Sigh…
