Get to know IsarL and what their plans are for their game and possibly future projects! This was easily the best Backrooms game I have ever played!

I so much can't wait for the sequel!!!!! After playing the first one, the sequel pretty much jumped in my top 3 list of most awaited games for the close future!

This guy has such a unique set of skills perfectly suited to making this! Also imagining a harsh camera flash with realistic reflections would be insane, and that's before imagining better sound design, and increasing... Interactions

I agree with you there 100%. You should check out their free tech demo they made where they recreated the Found Footage 2 map from Kane Pixels’ series! It’s absolutely incredible what they have been able to make so far. It gives us a glimpse as to what to expect for Expedition. Here’s the link! gamejolt.com/games/foundfootage2/761296

Thanks man! I'll check that out tomorrow for sure! Edit: Couldn't wait, tried it out. 5700XT & Ryzen 7 3700X Do not love it, but it's not a slide show either. If there's one take away this has over the complex, it's terrifying, even when nothing happens! It steps up the horror for sure.

The complex is truly a great game in artistic terms, it does exactly what it supposed to do and transport you to the Backrooms like not other game has achieved so far because it captures the eerie and wildly different sensations that the liminal spaces makes you feel, that can go from unease to calm, from fascination to dread. The way that the game achieve the effect of being observed and stalked is just brilliant. IsarL are you planning to expand the reach of the story telling that encompasses the exploration experience of the game? I think a cooperative system that could work very well in this game is something like the concept on Death Stranding where you don't see the other players but you can interact with them by left out objects and messages written in walls, etc. It could be hidden or locked areas that are very difficult to access and only by a community effort they can be unlocked. Or someone could figured out how to avoid or face and entity and can leave you clues or messages. Keep up with the great work, I'm feeling this game is going to be huge in reception even more than it was The Complex 1 Found Footage.

Thank you both for this interesting interview! Good questions - good amount of information. I´m really looking forward to the expedition, for I am more of an adventurer rather than a survival horror fan, all the more when it comes to the fascinating world of liminal spaces. I deeply hope that there won´t be any puzzles to solve, because I think it doesn´t fit the overall atmosphere and vibe that this kind of game should transmit, but I have absolute faith in IsarL, since he already created an awe-inspiring game. Take your time and keep up the good work!

@@annal3870 No worries! That’s me being careful around the use of the word “possible”. If you go to their discord they have mentioned one time but again this is something they want to explore after they go live with the game. You know, after all the stuff that needs to be worked out, are worked out. If that is still their aim, not sure and you would have to ultimately check with them for the latest. Hope that makes more sense! :)

@@DesolarTV Also I had a cool idea if they ever did vr for it. When you are in the game, one of your vr controllers is the camera, and you can press record etc, and it will save that footage in the game for later. And have it be part of the story like youre the camera guy, etc. And it would allow you to make authentic looking found footage videos because when the camera would move when you run or whatever if you know what i mean. Edit: cause the only thing that makes this game look unrealistic is how its using a mouse that moves like its on a rail really unnaturally. Edit 2: it could even be part of the story where you have to film a creature and bring it back to the lab so people believe you or something.

Great interview, I like how different this is compared to something like escape the backrooms. The graphics are just superb too, I like that the graphics cant be adjusted i.e. turning off the vhs effect as I think that would detract from the original "feel" of the game. I still want to see more poolrooms than there is in the current game, that is my most favourite area of the backrooms. I also like that he is talking about adding different modes to the game like a mode where you are completely safe and one where you are not... It would also be nice to see the player return to the research facility able to "tune" the machine into a newly discovered area so you can return to previously explored areas, and share the research with the other researchers, possibly unlocking am item system? it would have to be no UI on that though as I found with escape the backrooms it does take away form the experience when you have menus popping up. I am really looking forward to the new updates as they come and just more content in general.

Funny how everyone mentions Kane Pixels . . but the backrooms videos from 2019-2020 (two years before Kane) seem to get "memory holed" for whatever reason. 🤔 Not to mention the "endless hallway" screensavers from way back when. And let's not forget the whole "backrooms look" comes from the 2019 anonymous post and description (photo of an actual place which has never been identified . . certainly this is the Holy Grail of backrooms). Hey Desolar - Maybe a video on "Origins of the Backrooms" would be informative.😀 Also, literary influences . . Thanks.

Some stuff in The Complex Found Footage literally stole DIRECTLY from Kane Pixels' videos. I didn't realise until I went back to watch Kane's videos. Even Kane himself commented about how similar it is to his creations. At least IsarL should have had the balls to describe the game as "inspired by Kane Pixels creation" in the official page, and not just saying it casually in some interview that not many people are going to see.

You really need to try the first one thats on Steam! Hands down the most authentic backrooms found footage experience you can play. You will not be disappointed!

Is that unreal engine 5? The lights in the game working like ray tracing. But there is no setting rt, probably it is lumen if it is UE5, am i wrong?

Not at the moment but he is mainly focusing on bug fixes and refinements before anything else I think! I’m sure he has a link to his discord in his community tab and you can check there for the latest!

Honestly I think it may be static! I just have a wonder ability to get lost. LMAO The new game that got released does seem static and there is a linear way from what we experienced in the stream! I have only played it once so I will play it again to see if it is random in some parts. I love it though.

@@DesolarTV I love it too! Especially how something as simple as empty or dark environments or slightly off inanimate objects seem to raise instinctual red flags despite no actual danger in the game. I would LOVE to see a map or behind the scenes video of the game.

Did you play it straight off the default os or within the steamdeck’s OS? I haven’t tried it myself so I’ll definitely give it a try!
