Jimmy Rosenberg played in Poppodium VOLT in Sittard. With Martin Heffels, Harold Collaris, Kristian Severens and Melanie Meydam we were allowed to follow him that day. After the gig we had an open conversation. Jimmy wants to get clean and this was a 'final' gig before he would go to the clinic. The provided transcription is very crude and lacking in nuance.

No, there is just one thing people can learn from this video: don't do drugs.
@DanielWeltlinger
@DanielWeltlinger 3 жыл бұрын
@@MartinMaat NO. You can learn how to be a good human being. It's not so hard. Sometimes people end up on drugs because of all the bullshit from other people around them, and there's no shortage of that. Been well aware for a long time of a lot of stuff going on, am close to many of these families. No chance with me with such a poor excuse for an argument.

Amazing for Jimmy to be wearing his heart on his sleeve. There's no doubt he's seen the darkest shit that can happen in one's life but still has the strength and courage to try and get past that. An amazing musician and human being. Thanks for producing the interview, and good luck to Jimmy on his road to recovery.

Coming from a 40+ year guitar player myself, his playing on Made For Wesley, is some of the greatest soloing in the history of not just guitar, but from any instrumentalist. It's not about the notes, it's about the emotions Jimmy exudes from his playing, taking you to places you never expected throughout the whole recording. Every time I listen to that performance the emotions start to take over and make me forget everything. Which is what pure music should be about but is rarely achieved. I truly hope Jimmy can conquer his demons. He's been struggling with them for such a long time. And I hope he and Jon Larsen can get back together, work things out and get back to the deep friendship they both had and obviously both miss. My best to you Jimmy.

Listening to Jimmy in person here is NOTHING like listening to Jimmy on recordings. There is no flash in this man! I would love to hear original music from Jimmy that matches his persona - subdued, from the heart, humble, sweet and honest. I never really though of him as an original artist, and to me he has always been kind of like a circus act - a speedy virtuoso with an amazing talent and blow away technique. To be honest his fast playing is also very messy here, and IMHO he could do to go for a slower cleaner and warmer tone to match the person inside. After all he's making a comeback, and cleaning his act up - so I hope he re-invents the music too.

Like Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Hank Mobley, Wes Montgomery, Oscar Peterson, Joe Pass, Dizzy Gillespie, Chick Corea, Jean Luc Ponty, Charlie Christian, John Coltrane, Micheal Brecker, Jimi Hendrix, George Duke, John Mcglaughlin, Frank Zappa, Charles Mingus, Sabicus, Paco De Lucia, Wynton Marsalis, Art Tatum and of course Django Reinhardt. And pretty much anyone who sees all of the above as family, are my brothers and sisters also. It's a good family to be apart of.
