Interview with the original Hanoi Rocks drummer Gyp Casino / 22.09.2022

Gyp Casino is a Swedish rock drummer, best known as the original drummer of the Finnish glam/hard rock band Hanoi Rocks. Casino appeared on the first three Hanoi albums, BANGKOK SHOCKS, SAIGON SHAKES, HANOI ROCKS, ORIENTAL BEAT, and SELF-DESTRUCTION BLUES. In 1982, he was replaced by Nicholas ”Razzle” Dingley. Later, Casino recorded and played with bands like Pelle Almgren, Rolene, Roadrats, and Andy McCoy’s Live Ammo. Two weeks ago, the original Hanoi Rocks held a press conference in Helsinki and announced that the band would reunite and plays a show on the 23’rd of September of 2022. We met a good-humored Gyp in Helsinki one day before the historic concert.

@@HansVonNachtnebel Metastasised prostate cancer - but not sure what part of the body that it spread to. Obviously, once it escapes it's incurable. Had heavy treatment early last year but by the summer had responded well. No idea how he's doing now.

Razzle threatened to break his legs if they dont hire him instead - and Hanoi guys were impressed by that kinda enthuasim. Dont quote me on this but thats how I recall

Gyp had a very very young girlfriend and he refused to leave her and the other guys used that as a way to kick him out plus the band were on the verge of breaking up anyway lack of enthusiasm until Razzle got them excited about being in the band again

Razzle's surname was Dingley, not Dingle. The first album was "Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi RockS" - great interview though. Thank you.

He seems like a nice person. I was so young I only knew Hanoi with Razzle so this is weird and sad to me. No offense ment to no one. I'm 48 and only knew it one way. I miss Razzle

Who is the real James Bond? Joking. Both he and Razzle were superb. Terry Chimes, on the other hand, was not good either with Hanoi or with The Clash. He's still a good drummer, though
