it's really good to see when people understands lestat's nature as a vampire while louis still fights his, lestat fell in love with louis and saw in him someone who would easily let go of his humanity and embrace vampirism, after all, humanity has always failed him, and they would live happily ever after hunting people.... but that's not how it happened, and this will spice things up. lestat is possessive yes but also a brat, he expected louis to match his energy lol

Lestat tells Louis very little in the way of vampire limitations, rules, poetry, and history. Mainly because Lestat was told nothing on the night of his making, in the books, movie, and this series. Not that Lestat doesn't know things. At this point, when he travels to the new world (America) and meets Louis, Lestat knows quite a bit, but with Lestat, knowledge is power. Lestat's desire for Louis, wanting Louis to want and need only him, Lestat's desire to be Louis's world, makes him purposely hold back knowledge. 1.) Vampires can't drink the blood of the dead. It will make them sick and vulnerable and possibly kill them. 2.) Sunlight can kill new vampires (although the blood of an old vampire can heal a young vampire), not the older ones (Decapitation and being burned to ash in a great fire is the only sure way to kill a vampire) 3. The older a vampire is, the stronger he gets and the more gifts he develops with time. (So, in his way, Louis is pretty weak compared to the vampires out there. Still very Human, in the eyes of other stronger/older vampires.) Another one of Lestat's flaws. Making weak vampires. 4.) All vampires don't have the Cloud Gift (Flying), Telepathy, ability to see and commune with Ghost, ability to Glamor not only humans but other vampires, vampire speed, and vampire strength/durability. Hear in great distance, voices and specific heartbeats of other/older vampires. The older they get, the more their bodies turn into white marble strength. Beware! At this point with Louis, Lestat is lying to himself and playing the fraud. His behavior is due to his past, this no-care, cold, cruel attitude he's displaying... Lestat is ruthless, but a lot more "complicated" than he is letting on. He is not sharing his true soul past/history with Louis. [I won't say more. Don't want to ruin it, but if you guys have questions? Don't hesitate to ask.] Lestat does not share all the rules with Louis because Lestat is notorious for breaking most of the rules himself. If Anne Rice's son Christopher and the other producers of the show do it right, you guys will LOVE this series. Everything here in the series so far is not Book Facts, but it is entertaining.

I think its important to remember that ALL vampire lore/mythology/powers are different depending on who is writing the story. The Buffy vampires are not Anne Rice vampires are not True Blood vampires are not Vampire Diaries vampires, etc. In fact, there are quite a few tv-only powers that were given to these versions of Anne Rice vampires, they were changed from the books. Like, they can't smoke or drink or stay away awake during the day in the books.

It's sad that Louis sees himself as broken as a vampire, but then again he clearly felt that way even as a human.😔 And if you've seen the movie that definitely will tell you some things that will happen, though others will still very much be a surprise, not only because the show covers far more books/content than the movie did, but also because both the movie and show adapt certain things slightly differently from the books. 🙂

I love me some vampires, across the board, I love 'em all! I'm gonna say 1 thing, the older the vampire is, the stronger he gets. So they're not really equals in the vamp sense. Love Louis so much, Lestat is so controlling, always has been. I do love it tho when he speaks another language.....my my!

The focus is on Louis becoming, but it's also really about Lestat trying to fill his own void of loneliness and boredom in someone he thinks he can control like everyone else. Louis was out there delusionally explaining to Molloy how he and Lestat were equals, and Molloy is like, boy please, you just found yourself another master and didn't realize it because you finally had 2oz of power in the racist south being a vampire, but when Louis doesn't play by Lestat rules, he's always triggered and yelling and stomping around, and worse, killing.

The “banjo band” comment was definitely shade. It was probably seen as too country and not refined back then 😂
