Welcome to the second part of my jaunt around Jaywick. This time at the 'Never Say Die' pub to interview some charismatic Irish Travellers.
Join me as I learn about the culture and some modern day changes in the Traveller community...and of course there's always the Traveller banter to entertain you!
Cheers

We have a lot of travelers near us, one night in the pub, there were a group at the bar, long time ago now, the two pound coin had just come out, one of the guys at the bar dropped a two pound coin, i noticed it, i picked it up and gave it back to him, he was shocked, he told hes mates, me and my wife didnt pay for a drink all night, they were so taken back by my honesty, they all baught us drinks.

Quality 😂 I never knew the fury’s were from Galway. I’m as English as they come but my great grandparents were Tinkers which are a traveller group from Galway too. The Wards. I want to know more about my heritage as I know hardly anything. He mentioned about being a traveler in the heart ? I totally understand what he means. Strangely when ever we going on a boating holiday or caravan weekend something inside me feels good and free so I think it’s that what he’s on about. 👏🏼👏🏼 love this this and what a terrific group funny as fudge 😉

I met a girl years ago in a Disco in Galway. We hit it off very well, so well in fact that she invited me back to her place for a "coffee". Anyhow, after following her directions to her house, we pulled up outside a halting site in Mervue. I turned to her and said "Hold on, I thought you said you were a Nurse ? " "No" she said, I told you "that I was a Ward Sister".

Loved this. I love Jaywick too. Sick of people running this town down. It's a haven for lots of folk. Having Irish blood though, i disagree with him calling dukkering or fortune telling bollocks. Lots of Irish and gypsy clans have powers and the second sight. It runs through our veins, the ancient Celtic ways. It's funny how some traveller men view spiritual things. I've great respect for the warrior in them. I know that theyre devout catholics too. You have to admire the way they're quick witted and mercurial. You get on in life living off quick wits. 😂😅🔮🔮really love your channel too. Good luck with it . 💜

The travelling people are just like any other community. They have good people amongst them and bad people amongst them. Take them as you will and enjoy life give the bad ones a wide birth and embrace the good.

My personal experience, grew around some scottish traveler descendants and they were brand new. But 2 years ago in turkey. Bumped into a large group of both travellers and there friends, from leeds. 4 out the 9 were brand new, the other 5 were after a fight from anyone and laid on thick how boisterous they were. Shame because the 4 were some craic and were good company. One of the high tempered ones licked my forehead 😂😂😂

Fella in flat cap - ‘There’s not a man safe in the pub once I’ve had a few pints’ Also travellers - ‘they ban us from pubs for nothing, it’s prejudice’

This is great, you approached them on the level, you were open, honest, genuine and humorous with them, and they responded to you in exactly the same way. Behind all the shouting and bravado, they are warm hearted people for sure.
