Just incase anyone can't get into a store - For sizing as someone who works for the company, we tend to recommend women sizing down in anything unisex, so a classic 1460, 1461, 2976 (the Chelsea boot) or a 101. You can tell if a shoe is unisex based on the size range - if it goes beyond a size 9 UK, it will be unisex. Pascal and Polly are a women's fit shoe so are more likely to be 'true to size'. If you're between sizes we normally recommend going for the smaller size as we only do UK 6.5 and 9.5, leather tends to stretch quite dramatically if needed so you'll get much longer out of your shoes if you allow the time to break them in. Just make sure you have enough room at the front, they'll get wider, not longer. Wearing shoes that are too big will just cause the leather to dry out and crack as it's being over worked and creased far too aggressively. The Vegan range as a whole should be pretty true to size, as they're made from a man-made polymer they don't have the flexibility that leather has. They also won't stretch anywhere near as much so don't aim for a tighter shoe if you're opting for the vegan collection. (Amazing video btw :) )

Hi, do u have any advice for Jadon Hi‘s? Mine rub my heel & I’ve had them for half a year now. Every time I wear them I have either blisters or a heel covered in blood. Thick socks rub in too :(

Helin‘s Suga ok really cheap way of dealing with blisters and how to avoid them... Take 2 cotton rounds... Yes hear me out lol TAPE THEM on the exact spot where u get blisters lolol ik bear with me Then just wear your socks and it'll be fine! I'm so glad this works out for me my feet were suffering

I'm UK 3 and I ordered 1461 SEX PISTOLS LEATHER PRINTED OXFORD SHOES and a Voss sandals. This will be my first ever docs shoes. I ordered my exact size and I don't know if it will fit. We don't have any Dr. Martens physical store here in my place. 😭😭😭😭

my biggest tip was integrating what members in the military do(if they still wear steal toed leather boots) is making sure the ball of your foot fits nicely in the shoe for sizing, and lacing up your boots so the string at the top is under the side flaps to ensure tight lacing. my first time wearing my boots i wore them to walk around candy cane lane-which is going to a neighborhood that has christmas lights here in the states- and i was surprised my feet didn't hurt at all. the more i wear them, the more i'm able to wear thicker socks for winter

I’ve just got my first pair. I walked a mile in them yesterday with thick socks on but they probably weren’t thick enough. And no blister plasters. I have a huge big ouch on my foot now.

Oh no!! Make sure if they are thick socks that they also are socks that don’t move around too much too or else maybe you’ll get a blister too.

When I get new shoes I walk around the house for an hour or two to wear them out a bit so that I won’t get any blisters. Works every time

Sadly docs are pretty hard to break in and it might take 5+ wears to get there. But once broken in are so comfortable! It’s eventually worth all the pain. I’ve actually bled through socks breaking in docs but would do it again lol

I got a pair when I was 13 and I’ve been wearing them for 6 years, they’re worn in but still look great. I’ve never found another pair of shoes that could work with my style as a preteen and then now as an adult 😂 Classic docs just work, I’m so happy I own these shoes

@@inthewanderyears and you actually wore them out? I have a pair...they are...hell...1980s. I love the Unknown Pleasure version.. and I take umbrunce to hear about fake. They have a label ..and it is pretty much the standard...I don't know how you can get fooled...the soles are not the same because. The ...no...no...I don't agree.. but you do you...I see a lot of things I don't think I agree with. I'm much older than you. And my boots are also.. so you can get socks for breaking in...and polish...I mean.. you need to go and read the site ..no...

Two Tips for breaking in boots (in general) from my family and a nice lady at the shoes store: -if you feel a heat of sorts in a certain area (probably at the heel or outside of the foot) it’s from friction and you’re probably getting a lister or going to get one there -a lot of shoe stores sells these really really thick socks. Mine are from the Wolverine brand, they’re gray wool I think. Fricking lifesavers.

@@momin9739 i own a pair of dr martens (the sinclair platform) that are a little big as well and I CANT WEAR THEM LONGER THAN 30 MINS!!! Such a pain in the a** but you see, the loose fit is exactly the problem, mine will always turn my heel into a bloody hell, i'm so sad :( There are those things, i dont know how to call them in english, but you're supposed to glue them inside your shoe somewhere around the heel area to prevent your foot/heel from slipping up and down inside the shoe. these things helped me a lot but i still can't where this pair of docs longer than 1-2 hours..

For everyone who isn’t able to break theirs in just put a bag of water in them and put them in the freezer overnight I did this on all of my docs and it worked every time :)

Tip for stretching them out heat up the leather first with a hair dryer (but don't order heat them just a nice warming) to open the pores then pack as many socks as possible into them. They also make shoe stretchers that you can use.

I showered in my 1460’s and it broke them in In one day! There’s virtually no glue in them so it doesn’t hurt them and they form to your feet. If you don’t believe me look up leather stretching! It works wonders to stretch and break them in

as an ex dancer my biggest tip for filling out docs that are too big is to use lambs wool and pointe shoe toe pads at the front to fill that extra space! extra cushiony and the toe pads can be washed if they start getting gross :)

I've got the blaire sandals, and since my foot is a half size, the sandals fit slightly larger for me. What I do is I buckle it to the 1st or 2nd hole so that my foot is in the middle of the sandal, and it usually works for me but you're right about the sizes for the sandals. I would have gotten a smaller size if I was buying it brand new but I got mine second hand (and in good condition) and it's pretty fine for me. :)

I've had my jadons for almost 2 years and wore them for a year straight basically, and they still squeak soooo much. the bottom sole is what squeaks, not the lace up bit. I don't know how to fix that... it's really annoying, especially when I wear them to work and I'm walking around the office and making more noise just by walking than everyone talking combined lol

That’s annoying! Yeah they can sometimes be squeaky shoes. Hopefully those other people’s tips help! I find mine squeak on certain surfaces and I just rock it :P

i remember with my pascals i packed them with moist newspaper-paper and left them overnight, for me that did the trick! ive always had trouble finding cool shoes that go with my high arches, but this worked for me. also, the vegan docs are basically plastic (vegan leather bby) so theyre really tough to break in. id suggest just sizing up amd wearing some thick socks with them i guess. i also suggest conditioning them (with vegan leather conditioner obviously) to soften them up a bit, softening them enough should make them a bit more stretchy (:

Hey! I have a really thin ankle and I’m also flat-footed and I really struggle finding shoes that accommodate for this! I’ve never bought Dr Marten shoes, but what can I do to accommodate for these issues and where can I buy orthotics and/or other things to help me out with this issue? Jenn do you have any insight about if doc Martens fit differently when manufactured from different parts of the world, or even just in different colors? I have the white 2976 quad Chelseas (made in China) and I LOVE them, they were comfy and roomy on me right out of the box, I hardly had to do any breaking in. I recently just got the same exact shoes but in black from depop (made in Vietnam), and they feel much more stiff and narrow and are pretty painful to wear. I'm at a loss since they are the same exact shoe but feel so different?

I just got my second pair yesterday for Christmas (iced pink 1461s, I love my 1461 shoes lol) and I was surprised to find the label on the back, as my 1461 black monos don't have them. I did buy the monos in store so I'm wondering if that's just the style?

A good way of breaking in dr martens is to warm them up, coat them in mink oil, let it sit for 10-30 minutes, wipe them down, and then wear them. You can break them in in a day.I saw it on a KZfaq video and tried it myself it works great. I believe the KZfaqr is called anvil rose. It also makes the leather look much better in my opinion.

Only use mink oil if you dont care about getting the boots shiny. It will also dakren the leather. I'd recommend red wing classic mink oil tbh

Just got my first pair i am size 4.5 and the shop lady said to go for size 4 as the size 5 looked a bit bulky and way too long. the size 4 fit great everywerhe other than the top of my foot over the top where the laces end and toe box start, ive walked in them and so cnnot return and really hoping its possble to stretch this area :( any tips/experience with tightness in this area??

I love that you're still responding to comments to this very day. I know that must take a lot of effort :) Also, question... My Jadons that I bought about a week ago are really shredding my heels/achilles tendons. How long did it take you to fully break your Jadons in, especially the heel area?

Of course!! They did the same to me in the beginning. Took about a week or so but just wear them for short periods and they should be okay! If you get crazy blisters etc, wait until they are healed to wear them again!

Hi! Can u give advice to people with Jadon Hi‘s? They are a tiny bit loose & rub my heel awfully. When I walk my heel is like hitting the hard leather?? I’ve had them for half a year & I still can’t wear them without plasters. Idk what to do :(

Helin‘s Suga did you get them true to size or did you size down? they sound like they may be too big for you! Consider an insole or some thick doc socks! I would also purchase dubbin to put inside the shoe to help break it in. If this fails, try and sell them on Depop and get the size down maybe. I am a UK size 6 and I wear a UK size 5 in all my docs

Rebecca Rose I have a problem with sizing most of the time...I am a European 39/40. 40 is too big most of the time 39 always too small too. I really hate it...the docs are pretty loose on my feet but when I try to wear thick socks the heel rubs worse, so maybe insoles are a better solution but I fear my foot will get heightened & my heel will get closer to the rubbing point (tighter). Maybe I should try at least.

Hi Jenn, thanks for the video, it was really helpul. I have a doubt. I bought a pair of Clarissa Quad sandals, the size below mine as all the reviews suggest. The size is ok and the foot fits just right, but I feel like it would be better if the skin widened a bit. Does the material tend to stretch with use? I'm afraid I'll change up a size and it will be too big because I don't like to see sandals that are too big either. What do you suggest? Thanks a lot :)

i my second pair of docs 2 weeks ago and i’m usually a 6 1/2 or a 7 and i went up to an 8 and they fit like a glove and i have had almost no pain breaking them in (only as much as a normal shoe)

Jadons are the best right!! The quads are definitely amazing so maybe try them. So easy to put on and off too! Sinclair’s are also cool but very close to Jadons. Hope you figure out a cool new pair!!

Thanks for this, really informative. Dr. Martens have been a favorite of mine for years now. I did a lot of research on the brand before I got my first 1460s and became a big fan. They're a gorgeous shoe. My favs that I have now are the Carmelita in tan. I feel really powerful in them, and they're so comfortable. I'm gonna get a nice platformed pair next.

For everyone having problems with docs (breaking them in, durability etc) I highly recommend trying solovair boots! Same look, better quality. ;) Also, I only got mine a little over a week ago and they're pretty fucking comfortable already, 0 blisters, walk all day on them

Hi Jenn!! Im so conflicted with what to do... because of covid I can't go in to try any shoes so I ordered the Jadons online. I got a size 10 because im usually a 10.5-11 and ive been told to size down. I got the shoes today and my toes are touching the ends quite a bit when I walk. Is this because I haven't broken them in? Or should I return them and order an 11? My foot is quite narrow and long so I found the width of the shoe perfect but am sceptical of the length. Please help!

Oh no that sucks! Yeah the Jadons are a little smaller. The length won’t change much when you break them in so potentially if you can return them for the bigger size! Sorry

randomly just thrifted a pair of the all white Clarissa sandals the other day for only $18 😫 i hesitated at first bc they’re an 8 and im a 9.5 but they fit perfectly. i usually only get my regular size in docs bc they usually fit perfect but I was so happy these worked out !

YES Thank you so much for making this video! I love all your Doc Marten videos. I'm definitely guilty of having the sandals that look way too big on me. It was actually weird because I'm like a US 7.5/8 and I bought a size down (size 7) and they still somehow look big on me! I will definitely try your hack of stuffing the back! ^_^ I think that will solve the issue cuz like right now my feet are practically swimming in them LOL.

They aren’t too heavy, you get used to it. Get them because you like them, the weight isnt a problem. And if price is a problem maybe get second hand!

Maybe your mum is confusing docs with some heavier combat shoes? Those with screws and the reinforced toe? Those are for sure much heavier than a sneaker. With docs, in my own experience, the weight difference isn't that big when you switch to "normal" shoes

Im on my first pair of Dr. Martens, but i would recommend waiting until your feet have stopped growing to buy them. Since they are such nice quality, last decades, and are pretty expensive, you dont want to buy a pair that fits now but in a year are too small because your feet have grown. (Unless you have the money too, then do whatever. But my mom didnt let me buy any nice and expensive shoes until my feet stopped growing)

Jadon Maxes are even taller, great for a short girl like me haha, also another tip I saw if you don’t have felt, is to put a padded sanitary towel in the back of the shoes as a cushion instead, which helped sooooo much when I was breaking in jadon hi, those gave me the worst blisters I’ve ever had (even the 1461s were easy to break in in comparison)

hey, i bought a pair of jadon doc martens. ive worn them a couple times and they are quite comfy for me. however, i fear i may have bought the wrong size as they have began to bunch up and crease at the front. i had the same problem with my polly pair that ive been wearing for about 3 years. will wearing insoles will help stop the bunching up/creasing at the front, and do you have any other suggestions for me ? thank you :)

Hello ! I recently was gifted my first, dream pair of Jadons. I’ve never owned a pair before. I was wondering if I needed to treat them with the care kit BEFORE I wear them out for the first time?? Should you do anything to them before you wear them out or should you wait until them need to be cleaned? And will the wonder balsam change the finish of a brand new boot? Thank you in advance 🤗

Personally I just wear them straight out of the box! You can condition them if they are a bit stiff but if you break them in just slowly wearing them, they should be fine! Hope you love them (im lowkey very excited for you!)

I got my doc on impulse when I was shoe shopping because I’ve always wanted them. I made the mistake of sizing up with the classics to be safe because I didn’t want to spend over one hundred dollars only for me to grow out of them. The problem is my shoe size hasn’t changed in years so I have no idea why I’d did that and they are a little big. I got a size ten and I’m a 9 1/2

Cool video :) I always heard that doc martens were waterproof, but are they really water proof ? I mean is it ok only when it rains, or even by walking ankle deep puddles (does it don't go through over the laces) :) Don't know if you're able to help me as I'm looking at other options than wellies ^^

Definitely not waterproof, you could spray some stuff on them to make them more water resistant. They are fine for rain but if you get the soaking wet say in big puddles the water will eventually seep through. And if you get them wet you want to make sure they dry completely or they may start to get moldy. There are dr marten Wellies, have a google search. They are made of rubber!

So, how do you know if your doc fits correct? As my toe seems to be in the right spot (doesn’t feel like I’m sliding around, but my heel gets hit by my boot (top part), cause I want it secure but might be too tight? I’m worried that my docs might be too big. I’m not really sure.
