Intimate Landscape Photography in the Lake District. I this video I capture simple minimalistic landscapes in the Lake District National Park
On Wednesday I set off to shoot a part of the Lakes I have never been too. This is always an exciting prospect! Mark Mc Neill a member of my Facebook group suggested I go there to shoot Astro Photography. The reason Mark Suggested Devoke (Pronounced "Duvuk) Water was because it is very close to Wast Water where I'm due to shoot the Milky Way this Sunday. Weather permitting of course!
Mark wasn't wrong. The place is simply stunning. There are 360-degree views which render this place brilliant for Landscape Photographers. You can grab a sunrise or sunset there. The location is simply fantastic on so many more counts too. Zero light pollution makes it an awesome spot for Astro Photography. Landscape vistas that just seem to go on and on. On top of all this, it's really easy to find. There is ample parking and the walk from the car to the lake is really easy.
I have scouted out some brilliant locations for a future video I intend to make too. I want to make a video on the creative use of "off camera flash"utilizing a model!

Hi Gary. Your enthusiasm and cheery outlook are a great pick-me-up !! Blimey you got good weather there. Love that first sunset image with the boat house and the panos are excellent. Devoke Water looks a great location, one I'd never considered before, but will definitely take a look when I'm in the Lakes in June (doubt I'd have the place to myself then though !!). Gary nice drone work as expected. My favorite was the 1st sunset pic. It just goes to show you can get great sunset pictures even though there were few or no clouds. The pics had a ethereal look; refreshing for a change of pace. Thanks for taking your time for us to enjoy.

I loved this video. It was like a minimalist-ish video about capturing some minimalist shots. Very pleasing to watch. I really loved the drone shot of the boathouse, specifically the early section... of the drone starting low and rising quickly... wonderful.

Nice intro Gary and music choice. It's only when you see someone humping all that kit around you realise how much there is to vlogging. In spite of that mist, I felt it still produced some lovely tones in your images. The first of the two blue hour shots and also your favourite at the end...gorgeous!

Cheers Simon - I'm trying to vlog using a separate DSLR to the one I'm shooting with. By that, I mean a camera that depends on a full-size tripod. It's not an easy task. I believe that's how you do it too?

I would have to concur with scotty4418 on this episode, the simplicity really worked well... That sunset ( favourite ) was a winner and the fact you DO NOT use a polarizer when shooting water continues to amaze me after looking at the results, unbelievable... Looking forward to the future " off camera flash " episode as is this is an area I really struggle with, as in forever! Thanks Gary, Bill Farr... Vermont, USA... :-)

Gary outstanding as always. Now planning a trip there for next weekend with a couple of other photographers beautifully captured in your images. Visited Wasedale recently after another one of you Vlogs. 3 hours each way but you just make that area look so good it would be rude not to go.

Gary, At first glance, Devoke Water looks about as intimate as North Dakota or Montana. But when we look and see, our vision may be manifest. These fine images suggest I need to broaden my concept of things "atmospheric." Thank-You, Mike

Some fantastic images, Gary. Especially liked the panos and the blue hour ones. Interested to see the one you picked for your favourite. I personally found the reflection of the sun in the water too overpowering. Was that how it was or enhanced in post processing? Super vlog, thank you.

Hi Alan, thank you. The boathouse was a gentle walk along a solid path that took no more than 10 minutes. A slight gradient but it's a great place to visit even if you had a slight disability or were totally unfit! Hope this answers your question.

I'd love to Mike but the conditions are never favourable. It's always cloudy during the new moon cycle :(

Minimalist landscapes..love them...Tip from me for you Gazza...Drop the drone..I found it takes over my photography with getting permission to fly the bugger and the editing is pretty crap if your a newbie like me in video editing, but each to their own.Don't get me wrong a drone is a fabulous tool in a photographers arsenal but not in my country at the moment as there's clowns flying their drones around airports in Auckland.So i have put my drone on the market for sale, reluctantly as it's just going to get harder to fly a drone here......enough waffling....Great video, and loved all your sunset images, cheers.
