INTJ, what makes you YOU? What makes the INTJ personality tick? What are the building blocks of the INTJ personality type? In this video I'll explain the INTJ personality type inside and out - from their cognitive functions Introverted Intuition, Extraverted Thinking, Introverted Feeling, and Extraverted Sensing to their strengths, weaknesses, and unique gift to the world.
INtJ Cognitive Functions:
1. Introverted Intuition (Ni)
2. Extraverted Thinking (Te)
3. Introverted Feeling (Fi)
4. Extraverted Sensing (Se)
5. Extraverted Intuition (Ne)
6. Introverted Thinking (Ti)
7. Extraverted Feeling (Fe)
8. Introverted Sensing (Si)

FAQ:
Have you heard of the 8-function model?
Yes, I was introduced to the 8-function model in approx. 2015/16, and I have been working on Ti in my personal life which is not in my top 4. My "Inside Out" series touches on it, and I plan to dive deeper in a future series.
Have you heard of socionics, enneagram, tritype, vultology, 4 sides of the mind, interaction styles, OPS, or CPT?
Yes to all. I have a couple collabs and videos on my channel about enneagram and socionics. The other systems I've heard of and studied on a surface-level, and own/have read books on many of the above topics. For one reason or another, none of these topics have interested me enough to discuss regularly on the channel.
Stereotyping:
Any time I say a behavioral example of how a type shows up like "I tend to notice a lot of ISTJs with fitbits" this is to ground the theoretical concept for viewers who have repeatedly asked me to give behavioral examples and to make content less abstract and confusing. However, any time I stray from motives and transfer to behavior, it will lose universal application. Any time I give an example like this, it is not an absolute, it is not a rule, that behavior is not exclusive to that type, that behavior is not the exclusive manifestation of a type's motives, not everyone or even most of the type might do that thing; but it is simply a one-time example of how the motivations that ISTJs share could manifest - not how they must manifest.
In addition, different motivations aside from Si-Te motivations could also prompt someone to get a fitbit, so this behavior alone cannot be used to type someone. In my day to day life, I do not see people with a fitbit and therefore declare them an ISTJ. Any example I give did not come from inductive reasoning which gets applied universally like "I saw 3 ISTJs who wear fitbits therefore all ISTJs have fitbits." In addition these examples can be backed up deductively with Carl Jung's and Van Der Hoop's writing like "Si is finely attuned to sense organs"; "Te likes outcomes and metrics" "therefore an example could be, but is not limited to, ISTJs wearing fitbits, especially when used to measure sense organs."
I have been working on Ti and thus curbing misunderstandings on this front, but in case I say something contrary to this belief, it was due to sloppy Te langauge (or it was a non-serious joke) and not because I believe differently.

The funny this is that INTJs are so self analyzing that we dont need to watch videos like this because we already know all of these things about ourselves. But our deep thirst for knowledge has us watching these videos nonstop because it helps us self analyze even deeper. Its such a contradiction lol.

Bodybuilding/gym culture is underrated for INTJs... Allows you to build a system and routinely engage with SE + it's a passive show of aesthetics after a certain point where you don't have to consciously put on a performance. Of course, there's a balance. I've been stuck in Ni and Fi most of my life, with a surprising amount of SE - at the expense of almost entirely avoiding TE outside of work.

Agreed. I don't like the stigma that INTJs don't care about health or nutrition... we believe efficiency reigns Supreme above all. And staying alive longer is the most important thing you could do. I’m INFP, and my wife and best man are both INTJ’s (interesting that I’m drawn to and have made my closest connections with a type that on paper seems at odds with INFP’s, but we really connect on Ni/Ne driven conversations centered on possibility/possibilities with our introverted/extraverted flavors and perspectives keeping the beachball in the air, so to speak). Anyway, I was watching the section on Se, and one thing I’ve noticed with both of them is that in certain situations or under the right circumstances they will show uncharacteristic enthusiasm and will really dive into something, and even more ready and willing than I am (I’m usually reserved, seek that kind of Si safety or conservation of energy). For example, when my wife and I go to Disneyland she is all about the rides, nothing scares her, and she’ll go on the most exciting ride (usually California Screaming) multiple times in a row, she’s just completely game for it. Meanwhile, I (afraid of heights and have never and probably *will never* go on a ride with a loop) am drawn more to walking around, exploring (Ne), and really appreciating the various locales in the park (I really love the detail in areas like Cars Land and the French Quarter), and I just like to soak in the atmosphere that’s been meticulously created; I might go on a ride or two (Space Mountain is a must for me, and I enjoy the Indiana Jones ride), but I like engaging in wanderlust and seeing if I’ll stumble up an area or a detail I’ve never seen before. And then for my best man, I remember this impromptu dance party that sprang up at a church event, and he was game to just jump in and dance to whatever popular song was playing and throw himself into the action. And, once again, I was much more reserved and self-conscious and it took me awhile to warm up to it, but still never quite warmed up to the discomfort. I don’t know how much of that is flashes of Se coming to the surface or if there’s an element of Te driving the action, but it’s just funny because on any given day they both tend to be more settled, usually with a book or some other interest. They also are usually the first to know about some new trend and I’m the last to learn about it, and they’re very enthusiastic to tell me about it.

Love how organized you are making these videos. And like you said that INTJ´s have a little ESFP inside them, I definetly agree as an INTJ myself. And acourding to people such as C.S.Joseph there is a thing called the subcouncious which is when you flip your type upside down. You get in it through your Se-grip or you aspire to it. I like and agree to all of the information you said but, I would like if you talked more of how funtion 3 and 4 can be positive and vice versa for 1 and 2. And it would be extra helpfull if you talked a little about the unconcious (ENTP shadow). So the 5-8 funtions. Anyways love your content, keep up the good work!

Thank you! After several years of experimenting with the 4 sides theory, I ascribe to a few parts, but not the whole thing... this prompts me that maybe I should make a video about it! I get asked about this theory a lot so I have a FAQ section in my description box, but it may warrant a full video as to why I don't go into that type of thing (based on its conflict with Jung's writing, Beebe saying that the theory has been taken too far, and also my anecdotal experience of its results, or lack thereof). A pros/cons video could be interesting

I often hear high Te people indeed taking systems from others. Like, let's say they want to be successful (since a lot them are interested in doing that) ..then they typically gravitate towards sort of copying from the people they see as being successful. "oh what you believe works? Then I'll adapt that thinking style". "oh what action you take, then I'll copy that". Also, I find they can sometimes (too) easily respect people higher than them and can look down on those lower, since they can be prone to seek some mentor like person. If the higher people say stuff, they more easily believe it and if the lower people say something they very easily reject it. It's so different from my own Ti thinking which both makes it fascinating as a phenomenon, yet at the same time it can annoy me. It's often indeed effective short term, but does not look like an effective long term solution. ? However, it seems like especially Te dominant are so interested in what works now and gets the boat moving. Also, they can be (or appear) super confident till right before whatever they do stops working. Then there is Ti being super careful and serious about such matters, and trying to prevent any mistake and then there's them just using system pre made system and then often get somewhere, even if it's just with trial and error.

100% love your practical and empowering levers of Jung, led by Te parenting of systems, projects, results, grit, solutions and outcomes over Fi's internal sabotage. So easy to choose the moody, critical, insecure excuses and defiant arrogance of the Fi child at great opportunity cost to Te. Also as you say, others see Se's external image blindspot as boring, conceited, withdrawn unappreciative and rigid with poor communication, social cues and relationships.

This is great! It is more like a college class lecture than something for entertainment. It is presented in an engaging way that makes me want to keep listening though. I like your description of NI and Te. An example of how they work together in my own life is that when I am pruning a tree or shrub because it needs to be pruned (I never prune unless it is absolutely necessary), I can imagine in my mind what the plant will look like before I even start. I see something like a vision of what the plant should look like in order to still look balanced, natural and healthy yet no longer have growth on it that is causing a problem for itself or something else. I know I'm done when I step back (I step back and walk around the plant between one cut and the next) and what I see in front of me matches that vision. Same way with arranging flowers or planting a flowerbed. I already know what it will look like before I start, even if I don't have a plan drawn out for it ahead of time. I only draw out planting plans and landscape designs for clients when I need to try to express what I'm seeing in my mind so that they can understand it. At my own house, I don't need written or drawn plans because it is in my mind. Yes, my parents say that when I was a little kid, I was an 'old soul'. I spent a lot of time sitting and just thinking about things, even when I was a toddler. I wasn't a rambunctious kid. I would sit for a long time at my little desk in my room with a blank piece of paper that I had taped to it with the roll of masking tape that my mom let me keep in my room. Then, she says, all of a sudden, I'd grab a pencil or crayon and start drawing something that doesn't seem to relate to anything in the room, or any book she's read to me, or any TV show etc. It would be something that seemed to come from out of nowhere, yet it would be packed with detail. She'd ask me what I drew and instead of just saying that it's a tree, or a car, etc. I'd tell her a whole story about it. The picture would be an illustration of a story that I'd told myself in my mind. People are part of my systems only when necessary. Most are not predictable, efficient, logical and sensible enough for me to enjoy working with them. Being around other people stresses me out. This is partly because I'm not only an INTJ, but also autistic. When my Fi is in charge, I am highly critical and dogmatic. The only positive way I can think of for using it is when I write fantasy stories or RPG campaigns. I channel all of my Fi into it so my fantasy stories are full of arch villains, idealistic heroes, battles of good vs evil, etc. My fantasy worlds are illustrations of how I feel about things. The good guys live by what I consider to be right and just while my villains embody everything that I think is wrong with society. My main characters are often clerics and paladins whose power comes from their righteous connection to their deity. Se is certainly my most underused and underdeveloped function. Both as an INTJ and as an autistic person, Se is almost like my enemy. I really struggle with sensations and the outside world. I think that gardening, decorating, painting, drawing etc. are the Se things that help me make what little I use of Se more pleasant. When I make myself focus on the sights, smells, sounds etc. of gardens and try to ignore the thoughts that are spinning in my head, it is a nice break from my Ni. Otherwise, my Se is a mess. I don't care what I look like or sound like. I avoid spending time with people as much as I can. If it wasn't for social media, I would practically be a hermit. I'd say 90% of the interactions I have with people is through typing out my thoughts and sharing them with others on Facebook, KZfaq etc. It's way too stressful to spend time with people in person while typed expressions are something I can control and carefully craft before I share it. Speaking out loud, on the other hand, is a mess. Great video! Thanks!

I have tested several times and several ways, including on line self administered to administered by a professional. INTJ, every time. Safe to say, I'm probably that? Anyway, I have struggled my entire life! I hate being around people, they are absolutely exhausting. I struggle with employment because of this, severe anxiety doesn't help. I am happiest alone, doing things, to learn new things. So last year I learned to grow tobacco, successfully. This year I built, not bought a still and ran my first batch, happily alone in the woods last weekend. I need help, I'm drowning in human disgust and introvertion.

Good question! I'm going to do a series about training each function in the future because you're not the first to ask this. In the case of Te like in this video it could be things like but is not limited to or required to be: read the book GTD mentioned in the video and put into practice, read non-fiction business books in general and then act on the pertinent information, get into leadership, get a money management system, task management system, time management system, a project/outcome/goal, measure results, get around Te-doms and try to imitate the good Te things they do. This is over the course of many years.

My critique: Don’t let it hurt your Fi😊 because I am saying this as a regular viewer of your content. The way you have sequenced and patterned this series is highly monotonous. It’s like you took a template and filled in the boxes for each of the MBTI types you’re covering. On the plus side, it makes comparisons being drawn more dissectible, but at the same time, it has also made all the videos too predictable. I can literally tell what you're going to do or say next. 😊
