@@mr._wattzon oh, sorry. I apologize, I don't believe it was Conor. At 17:03 I thought you were talking about the guy literally in front of the camera, but he was in team Miami and you were talking about the rider on the right side. Sorry Conor.

One of the most common complaints I see about videos covering races is giving the winner name in the title Edit: I meant foregone conclusion, reason nobody showed up

The concept is not new, it was tried in the 90's with a cycling league that last only a couple of years.

Really was a great race to watch from a fan perspective too. Any idea whether the prizes have been paid? I'm hearing that has yet to happen.

Great coverage. I think races like this are going to put the "old" races on notice. For a new race to offer this kind of money on the first one is insane. This may kill stage races altogether. I hope they keep USA Cycling out of it and they do their thing independentaly.

What is the benefit of not involving USAC?
@RedNeckBiker1092 жыл бұрын
@@thhorwitz1 not even sure where to start with this one, I have just seen too much disorganization on the officiating side to want to keep them involved. I understand you need cycling rules etc but do your own thing.
@thhorwitz12 жыл бұрын
@@RedNeckBiker109 I've certainly seen officials make mistakes from time to time, but nothing more than what an official in a football game might do. I've also seen riders try to get officials to bend the rules. But when it comes to the organization of a race, all USAC is doing is bringing medical and liability insurance for each racer. That's a good thing isn't it?
@3mtech2 жыл бұрын
@@thhorwitz1 Unsanctioned, unregulated, million dollars up for grabs, what could go wrong?
@thhorwitz12 жыл бұрын
@@3mtech a lot. First having USAC involved in a race means that all riders are covered in case of injury. If you work at a bike shop and are uninsured and racing and crash, USAC will cover a lot of those medical bills. That doesn't happen in an unsanctioned race unless the promotor seeks that insurance in some other way. Second, with the prize money one thing that usacrits got right was they reduced the prize money a bit and ensured that teams had entry fee, travel and housing/hotels taken care of. Having those expenses covered before the race is far better than a big prize purse imo. In this case, teams like Empire came from NY, spent all kinds of money on flights, hotels and entry fee and came away with nothing. If you had a nationwide series with that kind of pre-race expense, it wont be sustainable for teams and they will stop showing up. The Empire team (Good Guys of NYC) is pretty low budget, so don't expect a NYC team to represent at these Legion races for very long without that stuff covered.
