One of my favorite things from the books that they left out is that at one point Fred & George Weasley enchanted snowballs to follow Qurirrel around and keep pelting him in the back of the head. So really, they were hitting Voldemort, the most feared and deadly wizard in history, in the FACE over and over with snowballs 😂😂😂

The original name is Philosopher's Stone, but it can get confusing, the USA changed it to Sorcerer's.

Ron is the 6th Weasley son to go to Hogwarts and all of his brothers were in Gryffindor. 2 have already graduated though and of course his sister is still too young to attend. 21:08 In the book the broom was in a box so they didn't know what it was for sure. They made it obvious in the movie but didn't change the dialogue. The inscription on the mirror read backwards says: I show not your face but your heart's desire. Erised is desire spelled backwards.

Actually, the love explanation is the real explanation as to why Voldemort couldn't kill Harry as a baby. When you're a magical person and you love someone enough that you're sacrificing yourself to protect them, then this creates a shield, I guess, that protects the other person from the evil that killed you, but intended to kill your loved one. Love is the oldest, purest form of magic in the Harry Potterverse, so this is absolutely strong enough to defeat someone like Voldemort. Kind of sappy, but also philosophical in my opinion😊 Dee, I'm totally with you! 😍 Hermione is my absolute favourite character, and in my opinion, she's not much of a goody-two-shoes. You've seen her break and bend many school rules and hex teachers and her friends, lie to teachers and tell her friends to enter forbidden places, so... Idk, I just see her as ruthless and scary😂😂 but at the same time she can be incredibly kind😊

Slytherin often gets a bad rap for turning out so many dark wizards. This is often because villans often carry attributes that are not necessarily evil. Slytherin attributes and adjectives are: Ambitious, Cunning, Resourceful, Self preserving. Non Hogwarts Character: Loki, Elsa, Azula Hufflepuff Attributes: Loyal, Just, Hard-worker, Modest. Non-Hogwarts Hufflepuff Characters: Atticus Finch, Samwise Gamgee, Lucy Pevensie. Ravenclaw attributes: Intelligent, Wise, Creative, Open-minded, head-in-the-clouds. Non-Hogwarts Ravenclaw Characters: Tyrion Lannister, Gandalf the Gray, Phoebe Buffay. Gryfindor Attributes: Brave, Nerve, Chivalrous, Reckless. Non-Hogwarts Gryfindor Characters: Thor Odinson, Judge Dredd, Wonder Woman. House sorting simply puts students in a group of like attributed students. The feats, accomplishments and legacies that they achieve with those attributes are ultimately are what determine whether they're a good person or not.

To keep it simple and spoiler-free, when the Potters' home got broken into by Voldemort, Lily (Harry's mother) used an ancient magic known as *sacrificial protection* in order to save her baby. As the name suggests, Lily had to sacrifice herself so that Harry can live. Voldemort, unaware of Lily's sacrifice, tried to kill Harry but it backfired on him and split his soul from his body (which was destroyed). He was able to "possess" animals, mainly snakes, before he met a wandering professor Quirrell and persuaded him to attach himself to him. At the end scene, Harry was able to burn Quirrell (who was possessed with Voldemort) thanks to the protective magic that his mother gave him when she sacrificed herself. That'd be a lot to take in for an 11yo kid, so Dumbledore gave him the simplified version which is "it was thanks to your mother's love, Harry" which is all he needed to know for now.

To get the most out of the kids acting prowess in the second film make sure it’s the deleted scenes version(extended edition) it’s quite good.

Interesting to note that in England the first book was called Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It was changed to the Sorcerer's Stone in the U.S. because it was felt that young American readers might be confused by the title. Meanwhile, it's refreshing to see someone remarking that Dumbledore reminds them of Gandalf rather than the other way around.

Harry's paternal side of the family was very (but very) wealthy. It's crazy to think that Harry lived miserably with his uncle, aunt and cousin, when he had that much gold at his disposal. In fact, if Harry has that much gold is thanks to his grandfather, a great potioneer and businessman, who was able to quadruplicate his already large fortune and then get another small fortune after he retired.

There were many schools like this especially in England. with a points system & everything. it encouraged and inspired teamwork and self reflection for anything you do may reflect badly on everyone else which inspires self reflection and awareness of others around you and how you impact the lives around you. ♥ Hogwarts is the oldest school that's in Ireland,/Scotland. doubled as a fortress long ago. Dating back to it’s founding around 990 A.D. by four of the greatest wizards and witches of the age: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. They each represented an aspect of personality that they wanted to bring out in new students. There are tons of awesome movies from the past generations that still outclass many from today! they cannot hold a candle up against such things like Harry Potter for example and it's Very British, American studios tried to make it in america but JK needed it to be brought to life in Britain etc.

I got to do the music for this movie for my freshman year marching band show. It was so cool, I was so cool, and I loved every minute of it. It’s what made me completely immersed into this world, books and movies.

The actual magic term is called a tabboo. Which Voldemort placed upon that name so anyone who says it is traceable so he or his followers can show up rather quickly to your location and deal with you accordingly.

While they do, unfortunately, leave a lot of stuff from the books out, the movies are DEFINITELY enjoyable.

It is true that Gryffindors, like any other house, can make mistakes & do messed up things. However, the same can be said for members of any other house. The important thing is how they learn from their mistakes & grow as people. Additionally, while Gryffindors may have a reputation for being cocky or overconfident, they also have a strong sense of loyalty and bravery that drives them to do great things. As for Hufflepuff, while its members are often seen as kind and hardworking, this doesn't mean that they are without flaws or negative aspects. Hufflepuffs can sometimes be too trusting or naive, and they may struggle with assertiveness or standing up for themselves. However, these weaknesses are balanced by their loyalty and dedication to their friends and family. Slytherin is often viewed as the "bad" house, but in reality, its members are just as capable of doing good as anyone else. Slytherins are often resourceful and ambitious, and they can be very dedicated to achieving their goals. However, this can sometimes lead them to make morally questionable decisions or pursue power at any cost. But as with any other house, there is a wide range of personalities and values within Slytherin, and it is unfair to generalize all Slytherins as being evil or bad. John Cleese the legend himself was the one who played the first ghost you seen, Sir Nicholas/Nearly Headless Nick.. this series of films had a huge portion of england's greatest acting talent from across the generations all in a single place... all becoming great friends. The small amount of new students arriving with Harry this year was due to the last wizarding war from about 11 years ago... normally it'd be a larger number with a larger and longer celebration...

You two are in for an amazing journey! The love thing, it's a bit more complicated than that, but Dumbledore is telling the truth. Dumbledore's explanation sounds very wishy washy, but what he is really referring to is an ancient charm only possible through pure sacrificial love for someone. A willing sacrifice out of deep love (what Lily Potter did) can manifest an ancient long-lasting protective charm that even the most powerful curses can't break through, which is why Voldemort failed to kill him. This isn't a spoiler, it's just that the book fleshes this out quite a bit more than the movie.

Hi! The reason Harry has to stay with his aunt and uncle is because his aunt is his mother's sister. Blood relations has everything to do with it. Everything was in that letter Dumbledore left on the blanket baby Harry was wrapped in. He has to stay with them until he is seventeen years old, which means in the wizarding world he will be an adult.

It was indeed partly filmed in London, the scene you asked about was filmed in "leadenhall Market" the Ministry Of Magic was "Old Scotland Yard", gringotts was "Australia House", and the studios they used for any not on location shooting was in London (Watford) However, the school courtyard and cloisters is Durham Cathedral, which is near where i live, and the flying class was at Alnwick Castle which is about 40 mins from Durham, there are other locations in Scotland and oxford too :) x

Glad you enjoyed it! The protection of love thing is true. His mother's love is considered an extremely powerful protective spell in the story. That's the reason he survived as a baby. But i think its more than just "i love my baby therefore hes protected." I think she intentionally cast it like a spell and then died for him that made it so strong.

Because Harry was protected by his mother`s love spell, and because she sacrificed herself for Harry, Voldemort`s spell couldn`t touch baby Harry. This means that Harry indirectly "killed" Voldemort. By "stopping" Voldemort, Harry ended the brutal war between Good Wizards and Black Wizards. That`s the reason why Harry is loved by those who fought on Dumbledore`s side and hated by Voldemort`s (ex)-followers (Death Eaters). During the war, Voldemort put a spell on his name. Whenever someone mentioned his name, that someone could be tracked by his Death Eaters. That`s why, even after the war, especially the older Wizards are never using his name. In England they start secondary school at 11. Only first years use the boats to get to Hogwarts. Those 10 points Nevel got were the only points he earned all year. I think the books are even better than the movies. 7 books but 8 movies. They split the 7th book into 2 movies. Then there is a 20th-Anniversary Movies and the "Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them" movies. Anniversary

I don't know if either of you like to read but if you do I would suggest also reading the books because there are a lot of details and moments that they just completely left out and that's understandable cuz they can't put everything in the movies but there's a lot more to Harry Potter than what's in the movies

Key things to note about this first movie. The movie takes liberties with the plot that don't make sense later. There are two key differences in the book that you must know. In the book, Quirrell doesn't see himself holding the stone. What he wants is the elixir of life that the stone can be used to make, so he sees himself holding that. The reason Harry could get the stone is because he wanted to get the stone, not to use it, so he saw himself holding the stone. The other difference is that in the book Quirrell strangled Harry until Harry passed-out, then Quirrell was burned to ash from having touched Harry. This is even more important to know than the first difference, so keep it in mind moving forward. You will definitely learn why touching Harry had that effect on Quirrell and Voldimort later on in the series. If you get the explanation and it still doesn't make any sense, I will be happy to inform you about it after I watch your reaction to it.

Speaking of nice trolls. It would be amazing if you guys reacted to the Trolls movie series. My daughter and I watch it everytime she’s with me. It’s her favorite movies and now it’s mine as well. The 3rd one came out the week after her birthday so we went for her birthday and after watching it once. She already started singing the 2nd time. Half my room is filled with trolls stuff. You 2 would definitely love those movies. But for now. I will enjoy Harry Potter with you. ❤❤
