Good morning Josh, Came back from hospital (6th week of radiotherapy, 7.20am appointment.) to find this waiting for me. Has cheered me up no end. Just having breakfast as I watch it. Got to get two new tyres this morning as back tyres bald. Promises to be a sunny, warm day here in rural France. Keep the vids coming. Hope to visit Aus in October having had to cancel the last two attempts (September last year and January this year) due to having to do something about this niggling cancer. Nothing too serious as have caught it in time. Been monitoring it since September 2019. You keep me grounded. Thanks mate.

Memories from my teenage years of rounding up the cattle but we used horses. I must be getting old as that was the way it was back then. I am 70 years young after all. Thanks for taking us along, Josh.

When I started working here we only used horses too but we soon saw the light and went to the blue stallions called Yamaha. They make work so much quicker and easier.

I enjoyed every minute. Great Stuff. Looking forward to more more footage of the Creeks and Gullies after the Rain. I know you have a lot of Farmland, but in the UK I sometimes see Farmers gathering a few Rocks at a time whenever they have a chance, and making small piles of them, to keep them safely in view.

We didn’t end up getting much rain from that cyclone. It was a few months ago. There isn’t actually much green grass left here any more. We need more rain again. We sometimes pick up the rocks when we get time and put them in gullies to stop further erosion

You make it look so easy Josh. Where did you get the radiator cover from ? You can also get a twist throttle conversion to make riding a little more comfortable.
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 2 ай бұрын
I made the cover out of a bit of shade cloth and some fencing wire. I much prefer using the thumb throttle on a quad than a twist one.
@shalininaicker
@shalininaicker 2 ай бұрын
@@intothenight1993 You can still use the thumb throttle as well as the twist. I thought you may have made up the front cover yourself.

I have used a quad once with a twist throttle and hated it. I couldn't get anywhere near control I could riding through the rough stuff as I can with the thumb throttle but that's just personal preference. haha I usually try and make most things I need if I can. Or at least give it a go.😂

Thanks for another mouth watering video Josh. I was just wondering if you cull your breeders based on age, temperament health status or preg testing or all of the above and if you ever supplementary feed or only grass finish? Also do you have any tick issues there? Regards Mark from Redlands.
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 2 ай бұрын
Hi Mark. Yes we just went through all our breeders and culled for age and other faults eg udders, cancer eye(we don’t get a lot of that), temperament preg testing etc. we do occasionally supplement feed them lick but because of the market we sell to we have to be careful that we don’t give them any grain based supplements or anything with rumensen in it as they class it as an antibiotic. We are in a tick free area now. 👌

Have ridden bikes without an injury for 40 plus yrs an had a freak 5klm per hr accident on my quad that nearly killed me!! Ended up with 100 stitches and a couple of titanium plates in my face/cheekbone and it happened pretty similarly to u going thru that creek bed? I had to walk a fair way back to the house for help but you have much more property so could b a long way from help if by urself and trust me u don’t heal as quick as u get older😁 Stay safe budd 🤙

How do the cattle become blind is it due to fly strike ?
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 2 ай бұрын
Yes flys carry the bacteria from one to another. But I don’t really know how it initially starts. It is always worse in a drought. But most of the time they get over it.

@@user-mb9cl4rd2u that fist mob we shifted, the paddock they were in was about 200 acres so only a small one but the one they went into is about 770 acres. We have a few small paddocks about 200 acres but most of them are around the 500-800 acres or more. Over the last few years we have been cutting a lot of our big paddocks up and putting more water points in and doing rotational grazing. It makes the cattle utilise the whole paddock and also gives other paddocks a spell and a chance to recover.
