Thank you for these videos, I'm learning a lot. I'm tired of being unable to repair my own vehicles & I have the worst luck with them so I'm ready to learn all I can to teach myself how to do so.

A good thing to do with a torque wrench is at the end of every day just set it all the way back down to 0.

One of the best starter tools videos I’ve seen on you tube very accurate . Lube tech asked me the other day what tools I think he needed to buy and being a smart ass without knowing it I said what do you borrow or think u need or will make you more productive

I love that snap-on 1/2" air impact, I have the same exact impact. I work on medium/heavy duty diesel and it will zip lug nuts off semi trucks all day long and they torque 450-500 ft lbs. Its powerful enough I dont have the drag out the big air hose and a 3/4'" or 1" impact, saves me so much times

If you want an impact that is just as good as that air impact, check out the Miluwakee Fuel brushless 1/2" impact. That thing is a beast!

Pen and notebook is also good for writing down further maintenance needed or up sales that the customer isn’t aware of while servicing their vehicle.

Tekton 3/8 & 1/4 socket set + Bauer 1/4 impact driver=most of what you're gonna need for engine bay inspection for a curiosity check. Carlyle tools from Napa are good above HF quality. If you can bump up to tool truck Cornwell Blue Power tools are also a good step up to it. Capri is also reasonably a good consideration. Most tire tech guys are gonna need a plastic dead blow hammer-good way of not scuffing rims. For electric impact wrenches that aren't Milwaukee and DeWalt. I recommend Kobalt 24 volt brushless. The current discontinued model is on sale for $199.99 at Lowe's. Keep the original receipt because the tool has a manufacturer's 5yr warranty with a 3yr warranty on the charger and battery. You would need to contact Kobalt first with the receipt get a Return Authorization (RA) for the warranty to be honored. If you don't want that and something with more umph in power without breaking the bank. Kobalt just released the 24v XTR. It's just a Blue Milwaukee for half the price of an actual Milwaukee itself.

Awesome video.. Some shops & dealerships also want you doing tire rotations, checking tire pressure as well as antifreeze testers.. If your going to work for a dealership.. The dealerships I've worked for are pretty much greedy & don't allow you to help mechanics work on cars.. So your pretty much screwed to being stuck doing oil changes.. Private second hand smaller shops ((non car dealerships)) actually allow you to venture out & learn new things unlike big car dealerships which is very uniformed.... The best wayto go starting out in my opinion as every one has there own opinions isif your truly passionate & want to learn about cars is to goto smaller mechanic shops... You can learn hands on much more faster.. Put in a few years turning a wrench & learning.. Once your confident enough then take on a bigger dealership to get the job you desire to have!

The impact sockets,don't have to buy the tool truck brands.Two brands to look at to buy for impact sockets are Grey Pnuematic and sunex which hold up with a lifetime warranty.

So my harbor freight impact sockets from 1.5 years ago are completely different from the ones they now sell which are similar to gearwrench and matco with that optitorque edges.

@@CaptainRon1 hello, I wonder if i should buy a snap-on Verus Pro if i get it cheap like 1200$ maybe less.. im a intermediate scope user and diy'er thats wants to evolve.. and i dont own a good scantool or scope just a small basic unit... i want to do all makes and models including vag.. benz.. and bmw... will it be any additional costs and fees using the Verus pro? THANKS ALOT!!!! CHEERZ FROM NORWAY!

It's a really nice 2 channel scope. Ut just like any other snap on tool, you pay to make it do what you want it to, plus you'll have to pay for updates and such. If you can get it for a really good price, I'd say it's worth it. If not I would hunt for another alternative.

Thanks for your advice, but with the tools you mentioned and a box what would be the average price for everything???
@CaptainRon1
@CaptainRon1 5 жыл бұрын
I dont know the exact amount it would cost, that would vary by store and region, however, I would think that you could get a beginner set of tools for about 300-500. again, it would depend on exactly what tools you need and what tools your shop would provide (for example, my shop provides the torque wrenches, so you wouldn't necessarily have to purchase those)

Im a complete noob, im starting a kit for repairing the familys cars, we have 2 siennas and a taurus. Any modifications to this list with those specifications? I have nothing so its a blank slate here 🤣. Really want an impact wrench, but not to pay 300$ for it either. Any advice or a list if your bored would be hugely beneficial regarding the home mechanic. Subbed, good video

Like I mentioned in my video, you dont have to go wild with buying tools. If you have a harbor freight close, that's where I would start as that would be your cheapest option for tools if you dont want to spend a lot of money. If you're looking for an overall good impact to get, I would suggest the 3/8" stubby Milwaukee fuel. Rustbelt has one and he's actually been able to take lugnuts off of cars with it, however I would really suggest a 1/2" impact for that.

Where is the best place to start lube trch?
@CaptainRon1
@CaptainRon1 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, if you have either dealerships or independant shops in your area, you could try and get hired on with them as an intern. As long as you are knowlegable and have a good eye for detail, you should be able to get in and work with them. If not and you have a quick stop lube place in your town or close, apply there, but if you are wanting to expand your knowlege and experience, being around techs that have been doing it for years and do more than just oil changes is the place to be.
