LECA is a great medium for those wishing to try something new in their plant game. Going soil free has many upsides, but some downsides too. I go through all of those and how to convert plants from soil to LECA in this video. I hope you enjoy!

I have used leca for about 3-4 months and love it! One thing I would add is that the clay dust can clog up your pipes so be careful with rinsing directly in the sink! I usually do it in the sink but put a big bucket under it and dump the water outside.

Mia: instead of putting rocks or any other type of air opener to the bottom pots, use the leca balls. They are made with clay as well and will allow the rootsbon any plant to breath. Just be careful with the water you use. Good Luck!!

@@Mia.Lou. just wanted to help! Leca is the way to go if needed. It will save many plants as I have live around the rain forest and Africa for many years studying plants and how to train them to except our invironment. I'm afraid and hope they will except our ways. I am on on way to Australia in 3 more weeks to see their greenery as well!. Good Luck!

This is for everyone concern about Leca Balls. Leca Balls are a mixture of red clay and minerals found in the ground. When a group of us go to the rain forest or jungle, we spread out Leca Balls on the ground. We know for fact the rain forest has a lot of protein and minerals and more but it lacs many opening to its ground when there is no rain and only moisture in the air. The Laca balls breaker up the ground when moisture is high and allows them to make openings in the ground. This allows for new growth, for new life, for new plants to be brought forth to us and us as teachers, to teach our loving plants that we bought to learn our ways of our knowing nature and hope they will understand our way to give them better love and understanding as needed. Good Luck!!

This is great!! Remember the key is also the water you use. Do not fertilize your plants until spring. Slit of people don't understand this but the new dirt that is put into your plant has 3 months of fertilizer in it. Remember leca balls go on the bottom of your pots. Make sure your pots have a hole in it or you still can use the nursery pots if you wish until the plant out grows it. It is your preference. Good Luck!!

i had bad luck with leca. But Pon is my go to substrate. I had 100% success with SH and SP, the cuttings rooted in 2 days, the older strings hidreted in a day. Thank you for the video!

I use fish 💩 water from my aquariums and my plants growing in water ❤️ it I'm about to switch a few plants over to Leca and Pon I'm sure it's going to be very similar the only difference I can see is not having to change the water.

Hi Emma hi have a question about my chain of hearts plant , I just got it 2 days ago from Etsy. But it just doesn’t look right it has long vines and full but it’s pink and purple looking like it just looks sad. I watered it and trimmed it a little bit, put it under my grow light a little more each day to get it acclimated to my home . What can I do to get it healthy ? Please help , scared I’m gonna lose it

The main reason there is little chance of rot in semi hyrdo is because there is no soil that quickly becomes anaerobic (no oxygen) which is what causes rot. This is why water prop works so well. Roots mainly just need water and oxygen to grow, and water itself is just hydrogen and oxygen. You then add more oxygen through a porous medium like leca or pon.

I haven't done pH balancing for leca myself but when I do I can totally talk about it. As for fertiliser, use as recommended for the fertiliser you have

I have a few imported plants with no roots (because the root rot 🙄) . Can I put them in the leca or I have to grow some roots in the water or sphagnum moss? I have never used leca before. I just placed a big order for everything I need to grow my philodendrons and anthuriums in leca. I am scared 😟
@GoodGrowing

Oh no! Root rot is the worst! I'd personally root the plants before going into leca. Fortunately the transition from water propagation to leca is a smooth one! Good luck!
