Doris Wanjiru Munyingi has just become the youngest ILC Council co-chair in our history! It's a proud moment for the ILC in “walking the talk” when it comes to young leadership.
Ms. Doris Munyingi, a dynamic 25-year-old young lady from Kenya, is renowned for her expertise in advocacy, movement building, and outstanding leadership. For the past 5 years, she has thrived while working at GROOTS Kenya and she currently serves as a Programs Manager for GROOTS Kenya and is mentored by the esteemed outgoing Co-Chair, Ms. Fridah Githuku. Within GROOTS Kenya, Doris has demonstrated transformative leadership, excelling in governance, land rights advocacy, gender justice, and building the resilience of grassroots women and girls in the face of climate change challenges locally, regionally and internationally. Her impact extends beyond organizational boundaries: she is committed to driving societal change.
Globally, Ms. Munyingi is part of the ILC Young Leaders Fellowship Cohort of 2023 to 2024. Regionally, she also serves as Eastern Africa's representative for the GIMAC (Gender Is My Agenda Campaign) Young Women Network where she diligently oversees the implementation of the African Union's Solemn Declaration on Gender Equality in Africa (SDGEA), fostering progress through collaborative efforts.
