The climactic clash of the Hundred Days campaign wrought the end of around twenty years of continuous warfare on the continent, and with it an end to the reign of Napoleon. The Battle of Waterloo, arguably the most famous battle in all military history, provides a fitting subject for our second foray into the 'Epic' scale of wargaming. Black Powder Epic Battles: Waterloo and allows you to recreate this iconic battle!

My whole life I have avoided the mental trauma that is napoleonics. Wholly been able to justify since the amount of troop types and uniforms for this time period is overwhelming in larger scale armies. I knew when epic acw came out, that I might actually be able to manage Napoleonics if done in starters sets and in this scale. I am so EXCITED!!

This just made my whole day chaps!! The rumours were flying and some great videos on youtube about this being a reality. You never know until it's real and man alive what a release to have. I just spotted the email about half an hour ago and just digesting all the bundles from the email link. All plastic and the detail looks absolutely stunning. Thanks Warlords. Finally I'm getting into Black Powder..!!

I'm not a "War Gamer", I paint miniatures for relaxation and fun. I'm much older now and the hand isn't as steady, I'm blind in one eye...but I have the monetary resources to do pretty much what I want. I started with 15mm, then I went for 18mm and now I prefer 28mm...but these Warlord "Epic" figures look like fun...yes, they're much smaller but the models are so well molded I think I'm going to give these guys a shot.

Absolutely glorious! I’ve been waiting since the ACW sets came out, hoping napoleonics would happen. I didn’t think it was going to be this soon! Wish there was one set that had both sides in it, but minor inconvenience. Guess I have to buy both armies!

I recently decided to take the plunge into Histroicals and was going to go for Napolenics, but the amount of 28mm models needed was just too much so I preordered Bolt Action Italians instead. Now you've gone and given me an easy way to collect Napolenics at a reasonable scale too. Damn you Warlord, you're taking all my money 😂

ok guys I am in on this though I had retired from buying more. Small concerns created by the British Rifles depicted as line troops though when you show the French skirmish line correctly. One major question is flying around my head however. Are you going to do an ECW game in this scale complete with properly formatted pike and shot formations? That would be icing on the cake for me for a future purchase.

The Rifles were used as Line troops during Waterloo in several instances at desperate moments; they didn't want to, but they grit their teeth and did it admirably. It's one of the lesser known facts of their contribution, and possibly what this is meant to represent here.

Excuse me for writing this Warlord Games and forgive me for being a downer but I bought a box of WW2 Soviets today - 40 figures for £32.00 after the recent price increase! Thats become a bit steep for 40 plastic figures. I have to say my enthusiasm for doing a new period/scale of anything Warlord has been severely dented. I think I will have to have a long think about it.

Make it all plastic, and I'm in. Do like you did with the amazing looking ACW Epics and have everything after the starter be overpriced resin, and it's a hard pass. So you have one customer right here with money in hand, ready to dive in. Your move.

Should have guessed the next Epic Battles range would be Napoleonics. Certainly more interesting than ACW. What scale are these Epic Battles models if they're not 15mm? Also, any sign of ECW sometime in the future for Epic Battles? Currently playing The Kingdom Is Ours and looking for some plastic 15mm or similar ECWs

interesting choice with the Voltiguers in smaller numbers in a skirmish formation vs the rifles in line formation fixing sword bayonets. Is that a nod to the battle itself or just a design choice I wonder?

Nod to the battle. Plus they can be easily painted up as light regiments as well. Skirmishing rifles are now out as well.

Battle of Leipzig would be a great next campaign (so many nations), though I like to see Borodino or Austerlitz. You got to have the Austrians and Russians. I might be interested in Russians

A new game no but a new setting so to speak, the published material in the Epic Napoleonic Waterloo of both the French and the British boxsets are the A5 Black Powder soft back rulebook and flag sheets. There won't be a specific epic Napoleonic booklet like we did for the ACW starter set.

@@warlordgames It is the same game but with a diferent scale. Soldier miniatures are smaller so you can fill the battlefield with more soldiers.

I am scared that there will be no 2 player starter set which is affordable/such good pricing like acw epic. Because of that i clicked dislike even if I like the idea of epic Black Powder!! When there is a nice 2 player starter set I will like the vid! :)

Not much really, depends on the detail you want to give the minis. They come in stripes of 10 men so I don't recommend you put much effort on every individual. However, Citadel's contrast alike paintings go well with the scale. I, in my case, bought ACW too, and I can tell you that no human eye can tell the difference between a mini with the smallest details perfectly painted and another one with just the basic colour scheme :)

Just start saving young bloke . you have to learn to be patient anyway, I went through the same thing back in the 70's when there was no credit cards . You either had the money or didn't . And while you are painting up one army you are saving for the other

I have no interest in this scale. If it was 15mm I would have bought all sets and maybe even in multiples. But this strange scale to avoid competition is a no-no for me! Also Waterloo does not really interest me... 1812 Russian campaign would have been way more interesting!

Waterloo was won by a team effort; so don't troll. I am sure the Prussians will be along soon enough. But as with the actual battle, they'll turn up a little later.

Boring. It's always Waterloo. Christ. You could have done Auaterlitz, with three different armies. The English only know of Waterloo in the Napoleonoc wars. Absolutely boring.

No we don't. I just read a very good account of Davouts brilliant victory at Auerstadt. But I agree, Waterloo is totally overdone.

No, we don't only know of Waterloo and that's a vaguely insulting thing to suggest. But Waterloo is foremost in the popular imagination of a great many people. It's therefore a safe bet to test out the new system. A British company with a heavily British clientelle making an Austerlitz set might be a very risky move for them to start with, but I could see them doing such a thing if the demand was there.
