This isn't a music video - this is Rock Opera which is both the video and the song which are composed and produced to go together. You can listen to the tune on the radio or streaming app, but you lose half of the production value. Rock Opera is a unique genre that combines writing, composition, and stage production and Meat Loaf is the man that brought it into the mainstream

The song opens with how he would go TO HELL AND BACK. That is why he looks like a demon/vampire, he literally went to hell to find his love. Anyway Meatloaf is a "Stage Performer" not a musician. A performer does not just play music, they put on a show so they are also like stage actors. His concerts had SETS with him changing outfits between songs. This song was called a "Rock Opera".

The really tragic thing is not even knowing who Meat Loaf is. He was in so much. I think he was in the 70's musical "Hair" on stage and both the stage musical and the film of The Rocky Horror Picture show. His Bat Out of Hell album is one of the biggest selling albums of all time, he was in a bunch of films including playing Bob in Fight Club and child Jack Black's angry father in Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny. He was a legendary rocker, and now nothing. Sad how quickly the past is forgotten these days.

Meat Loaf is the singer, his band is The Neverland Express, Some of his songs were written by Jim Steinman and were played on MTV, BBC Top of the Pops and National/Local Radio (in the UK not sure about other country's). His songs were all inspired by Jim's and his own experiences growing up and some of the Music Video's were quite Fantacy and Motorbike related in nature

I saw Meat Loaf play in a bar in Buffalo, NY, in the late '80s. They were playing on an outdoor stage in a courtyard behind the bar. It was standing only, on a sandy volleyball court. Best concert ever! The sound of his voice live was incredible. My best friend still has the guitar pick they threw from the stage and got caught in her hair. We had a lot of hair in the '80s. 😆

Remember there's a sequel to this video called I'd Die for You (And That's the Truth). The songs written by Diane Warren, not Jim Steinman but it's still just as epic. Meatloaf began on Broadway, did a couple of albums before releasing his debut album Bat Out of Hell where he began a long relationship with Jim Steinman where most of his best songs come from. This video played on rotation for MTV and VH1 when they actually played videos and unlike many videos in the 2000's told stories usually based on the song (no song about having no money while a girl twerks for no reason). Meatloaf was very theatrical and along with Jim many songs were about love, heartbreak, depression and reflection/regrets. Objects in the Rearview Mirror is another great song about reflection of the past, the affect life gives you and your memories

The video is a modern re-imagining of Dracula, the novel by Bram Stoker. The twist at the end is how Dracula gets a Beauty and the Beast ending, driving into the sunset with Mina. In the original novel, Dracula attempts to turn Mina into a vampire by drinking her blood and having her drink his blood, but Mina uses her psychic connection to Dracula to help vampire hunter, Van Helsing, hunt down and kill Dracula. The guy chasing them into the castle with the police would have been Van Helsing. And the three women in the bed were the women from Dracula's castle that attempted to seduce Jonathan Harker in the original book (and, yes, movie). There are several classic rock songs from the 60s through the 90s that pull from classic literature.

I will be 70 on Tues. my NHL hockey husband would listen to this 50 years ago before he’d leave to go to the rink before a hockey game. It was played all the way up to 10 on the biggest speakers that shook our beach house. I loved it too. So great to see it thru a 20 year olds eyes for the first time. Meatloaf was in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” and a goofy 80’s movie called “Americathon,” where he kills a Camaro like a bullfight. He’s been in other movies as well. We were so happy in the 80’s!

This was a song from 'Bat out of Hell II', as a conclusion of the 'Bat out of Hell' album which was released in 1977. Back in the day when you used to listen to whole albums it needed to be heard in the whole as its like a rock opera. If you listened to the first and then the 2nd album it would all make sense.
