Introducing Goliath, a Q - (minus) 1 live steam loco

Жыл бұрынThis is my first attempt at scratch building a loco body based on Oliver Bullied Q1 austerity WW2 locomotive. 'Goliath' is based on a Roundhouse Engineering 'Lady Anne' and tender and runs beautifully, even though not yet fully run in.
The made up story to fit my WW1 themed garden railway is that, M.I.5 1/2 contacted an aspiring engineer, Oliver Bullied to build a powerful loco capable of hauling heavy loads form the Channel Ports to the Western front. The result, a Q minus 1.
Thanks to my friends in Canada who suggested the name and type classification for my latest live steam loco.

I absolutely love this... A gorgeous little thing with a character all it's own! You've inspired me to do something I have put off for years and build some garden railway locos!! working back through your videos now🙂

I think 'Radiator' would be a good nickname for this locomotive.

Yeah, can see how that would fit. I'm working on another project at the moment and was thinking of calling it Norman, but Radiator might suit better. cheers.

Finally!! After watching you build this engine for many weeks it’s alive! I’ve said that the Q1 is my favourite loco. I love the fiction that this is along the same lines but for narrow gauge industrial. You know, this is now my favourite model live steam loco! Well done! 👍
