Musical instruments and painting are not Haram in Islam It is only their use to worship other than God that is Haram, and also their use in disobedience is Haram, but other than that is permissible For evidence, I refer you to the fatwas of the scholar Yusuf al-Qaradawi, may God have mercy on him
