Great work! I often come across car cinematics on Unreal, but many of them look weak or with significant imperfections. This one looks very cool, just like Unreal's cool car cinematics should look. 2 questions: 1. How long did it take approximately to create it? 2. How did you separate the scenes? Did you make each new location on a new level?
@postprocessed
@postprocessed 11 ай бұрын
thank you so much! Yes I had same feeling that most of UE car cinematics are mostly either static, or look really weak (except few of them including Alpha romeo). Answering your questions: 1. About couple weeks working on evenings/weekends. I would say 5 days in total if I worked 9-5 2. Yes I separated scenes by creating separate Level for each environment

Once again fantastic work. Do you nanite your mesh's? Or just optimize them enough to run decedent enough in the viewport?

No nanites for this mesh, it is fairly low poly and size of it is about 100mb, so not needed for nanite. Runs in real time pretty fine though

Great job. Very impressive. How did you do the effect at 0:17 where the car glitched? Did the guys editing do that in post? Also a couple minor things I noticed: the back lighting in the beginning could have been brighter with a slight glow (similar to the original+looks better imo), at 0:06 where the car flies into the sun careful with over saturating the brights it looks a lil off imo, the original a really nice halation and a softer overall look which i really like (raw renders tend to be a bit unnaturally sharp, i like to blur in post), the headlights look a bit too flat and unreastic (you can either project a real image of a headlight onto the model or model the light bar inside of a piece of surrounding glass to make it look a bit more real), the original had this too but at 0:39 i think a more harsh sunlight with a slight volumetric would have looked better. These are minor tho obv given the time constraints you did an exceptional job.
@postprocessed
@postprocessed 10 ай бұрын
Hey mate! Thanks for your opinion! 0:17 did the guys in post, I found some pngs of car drivetrain and they added it with screen/multiply effect in post. In my breakdown I mentioned that it is free car model and it’s not very high poly :( so yeah, headlights don’t look really well imo too. But I really didn’t have more free time to spend it for such details which I also find a bit off. I also liked original Color grading, but wanted to make something more personal, more contrast look. But I get what you are talking about! Thanks for your opinion it’s very informative and feels experienced)

I can not disagree with you on sound design, this edit was not done by me, as I felt really exhausted after doing all these locations and camera moves, color grading so I outsourced the edit. @@postprocessed That's ok, i understand. I working alone too and Unreal Engine can be really annoying) Few days ago when i start working for remade of "Feel for Yourself", i choose the City Sample for environment and in stock it have a lot of unnecessary stuff (e.g. AI system, auto-load a buldings that i dont need, wrong game mode). And just 2 or 3 days i spended to fix it all and finally render the scenes properly. Ok, I won't interrupt any more, bye!
@postprocessed

@@RRGB107 no, dude you don't interrupt I like chatting with fellow UE artist in the comments. :) And yea, I agree on City Sample project. It's kind of annoying as hell. There are so many dependencies and settings you need to tweak and remove for finally making a render. Tough stuff

@@postprocessed Oh that's cool), and i almost forgot. I want to ask you about camera rig rail. I'm shoting car on the bridge with your rig technique. Bridge have a vertical slope and Is there any option for the rig rail to be flat on the surface of the bridge? Just in my way i add a lot of spline point to rig rail and set for each one - bridge as floor("snap to floor" option in spline point settings) and takes a pretty long time. Is there an easy way?
@postprocessed
@postprocessed 10 ай бұрын
if the car drives just forward you can use chaos vehicle. My rig shown in the video actually is suitable and fully prepared for chaos vehicle setup, so you can use this skeleton and controls for Chaos vehicle and drive straight forward no prob like in a game :) recording it with take recorder. And for some drifting/extreme stuff you can switch back to skeletal mesh in other level sequence and use control rig. Hope that helps!

Renders are awesome, but i also your camera work and composition. Its like watching cool motion designer showreel - fast paced, interesting, never repeat itself. And lens flares, changing focal, light reflections in cold level contrast with sun beams warm level on the bridge. Usually i bored with videos like this. Your work was interesting, complicated and fast. Envy your skills :)

Not sure if you noticed but there seems to be a lot of stutter, which takes away from the realism a little (not saying can I do any better at all, just offering constructive criticism) other than that it looks great!
@postprocessed
@postprocessed 11 ай бұрын
I think some edits are not cut by the certain frame. I believe I could made render where camera finished movement before shot end and that gives that stutter feeling, as camera stopped and shot is kept for 1-2 frames, ruining the "flow".

Actually, this behavior is a bit like telling the original author that their work is worthless because you achieved the same effect in a very short time. However, you should know that to professionals, the model is still very grid-like, the lighting is dead white, without the feeling of diffuse blue light. The texture and lighting of the headlights were not handled well, and the work was too lazy, with only one fixed light. Compared to the original video of the 765LT, the details feel incomparable, as only the headlights are visible, while the original work had changes in light and shadow for every line and color gradation. This is also evident from Audi's concept.

Hey man, I think you have misinterpreted the message. It is an inspired “replica”, it is a good compliment to the team. Actually director of this film contacted me in instagram, he happened to be my subscriber and learned some useful car rigging stuff from my videos. There was no negative energy in this communication. You can watch my breakdown where I explain why there are some issues with car lights as it’s free low poly model. But haters gonna hate anyway 🤷‍♂️

@@postprocessed Many of your actions may make some people think that advertising is a simple process to complete. In fact, the reality is that there are many different thresholds and requirements involved. Such behavior can mislead many people into wasting time doing the wrong things. Just as you are unable to handle concepts, models, materials, scenes, lighting, and other issues, others do not know how to deal with them either. It's like some of the key settings and adjustments in your tutorials are not clearly explained, and some things you only reveal at the end, such as using the best 3090 or having to handle dozens of material spheres on the car body. From the perspective of concepts, technology, and hardware that cannot be easily achieved, this is not something worth recommending.The entire work and process are fine, but it is wrong to mislead others with incorrect communication. Instead, I admire those on KZfaq who can create high-quality works using low-end graphics cards. That way, others can see what is possible.work is just an imitation of others' works, but the quality is not as good as theirs. Do you know that applying Audi RS advertisement to McLaren will diminish the brand value of McLaren?"

@@liangmarcus284 this comment is just another “somebody is wrong in the internet” type of discussion and I am not falling for it. If you would like to provide people with the process you find correct, I encourage you to do so, create your video and explain things in more details, that will bring more value and you have all my support on that, it will be much more effective than just arguing in comments. Cheers!
